On topic: funniest Craig moment: when Mathis tell his girlfriend to give Bond cheap wine and she says that's all he's got anyway. :P

Yup, lovely little scene that. Giannini and Craig certainly worked well together and never better than in that scene. Like the moment too there when Bond suggests Mathis should accompany him to Bolivia, at which the latter half-balks and the former just smiles (an expression that almost dares Mathis to accept and shows Bond pretty much knows, almost arrogantly, that the temptation is too much for Mathis to resist)...

It's moments like these that confirm QOS is a diamond in the rough.

It has its fair share of sparkling moments, I'd agree, just like most of the Bond films. And for the rest of it that doesn't quite work, I'll always maintain that it's an interesting arty experiment of a Bond movie...

I have watched CR and QOS several times, and I have not found any bits of humour in either film... Perhaps the 'That last hand... nearly killed me' can pass as humour but I find it terribly unfunny.

'ive got a little itch down there, would you mind ?'
"No! No! No! No! To the right! To the right!" (Le Chiffre whips him again)
'now the whole worlds going to know you died scratching my balls'

if you didnt find these scenes funny , then you are humourless my freind

SF: the "open the door!" in the tube. Also when he count the baddies in the Casino before the fight.
  • Humor simply doesn't work for craig - that's the bottom line

The bit where he says 'I never liked this place anyway' as Skyfall was slowly burning and utter chaos, just didn't work for example. He should stick to what he does best, that is being a good Bond that is believable and ruthless and leave the humor aside. The same goes with Dalton, they are so similar and such good Bonds

  • There are a few from CR and SF, but I really enjoyed the "teachers on sabbatical" line from QoS. Nice moment of levity for an otherwise straight laced film.

I thought Dan had it in the bag. I haven't laughed that much in any Bond film of recent memory.

Bond's face as he says "Open...the door." had me in tears, and it's probably the funniest bit during his tenure thus far. Craig was pretty funny throughout the majority of SF. Another favorite, while more of a funny, couldn't care less line, was: (Haven't seen the film in weeks, don't burn me for not memorizing the proper quote.)

"For example, I would say 'day,' and you would say..."
    "Wasted."

    And then:

    "M."
    Bond: "Bitch."

    Yeah. He was plenty funny.

There was one unintentionally funny moment in QOS where after convincing Mathis to help him, the girl asks Mathis to rub lotion on her, and it's all weird and awkward for a moment and then the next shot is of Bond downing his wine in one gulp.

@AgentDalton, I'm happy to know I wasn't the only one that noticed that. I suppose that's incredibly terrible editing in the scene, or else they were trying to convey something I completely missed out on.

And then quickly to the airplane!

It contained lines or funny moments but it wasn't much strong enough to be mentioned by heart...except for "That last hand...almost killed me.", "You noticed", "Stephanie Broadchest", his smile during his arrest at the airport, the scene after the cardiac arrest, and "Now, the whole world is gonna know you died scratching my balls !" were the funniest, even though this latest so- un-Bond. But it is in Fleming's "Casino Royal" !

The "Do I look like I give a damn" for his vodka-martini wasn't funny at all to me, so didn't "QoS" dialogues which I can't even remember at first. Maybe " I don't have any friends" was cynical... still not much fun "à la Connery".
He delivered lines, not counting "Skyfall", sometimes too cold and in-a-row that you can't notice he's joking in someway...that's Craig's problems. Even if in an interview, he told the press not to care at joking in Bond. Pity.
  • At the end of Casino Royale where Daniel Craig says to Vesper...

Craig's humour is unique because he's very rarely actually trying to make things sound funny. His humour is much more confrontational than straight forward joking, the odd exception aside.
