You had my curiosity, @Shardlake and @peter.
Now you have my attention.
................................perhaps Rami Malek is playing a rebooted version of Dr No after all. I mean, that was the rumour for a hot second. I mean we already know this film includes Jamaica and there is a science-y element to the plot. It certainly gets you thinking.
We have already had a rebooted version of Blofeld. Maybe Eon are more comfortable with rebooting characters now since Spectre. I don't hate the idea personally.
He's a little more of a junior doctor though. #NHSbantz
Also, the Russian numberplates we have seen become more interesting when you consider that scientists at Porton Down were involved in finding the source of the Novichok attacks on the Skripal family.
The RT folk have a fascinating spin on the actual interview with the CEO:
I think the Novichok scandal has inspired the Bond 25 plot. Which I think is really cool.
If it's the case it's one good thing that came out of this.
I don't think the child will be a major part of the plot. The young actress is seemingly unknown. To play a significant role, I'd think she'd need more screen credits. When the Norwegian shoot happened, the press would have then recognized her as so-and-so from this-and-that.
That is certainly the story that the Russian government are sticking too. I suppose much of it depends on how cynical you are in believing the British government would lie to it's people. Though it is suspicious that the Skripals died only 8 miles from Porton Down. There is certainly more to this story than has been publicly released.
The above video talks of criminal gangs stealing nerve agents and selling on the black market to shady government officials. Could Rami Malek be playing such a gang ringleader? Could he be working for some dodgy Russians?
With all this talk of Putin and the rise of a new Cold War, I'm really keen to see the Russians back as the villains.
Considering the film is being directed by a young American director and stars a young American as the villain, the question is how much of this will lean on the Trump/Russia fiasco. We know the CIA are involved this time, so the Americans are certainly more involved than before......it's certainly going to be interesting.
I recently watched Mr Robot's third season and it's clear Malek's character is very politicised. Check out this awesome video below.
Rami Malek gives a great performance here.
I grew up not too far from it, about 25 miles away. There was a guy I used to work with who got a job there, he dated a girl I went to school with. After he started there I never saw him again. It's like the UK's version of Area 51.
Ummmm.....sounds more suited to an Iron Man film.
Look, once you have read the below I think you will come to realise that the Madeleine-flashback theory is now officially debunked:
Exhibit 1: Sebastian Soudais
Sebastien Soudais has already confirmed he is doubling Malek
https://www.mirror.co.uk/film/bond-25-stuntman-reveals-incredible-16523203
He was photographed on set in Norway:
Exhibit 2: Polly Bennet
In the same interview above, Soudais confirms that Polly Bennett - Rami Malek's movement coach on Bohemian Rhapsody - has been working with him on Bond 25. Her website can be found here:
https://www.pollybennettmovement.com/
Soudais and Bennett are BOTH photographed together in the same picture above (top left): Here is a photo of Bennett for reference:
I noticed this at the time Norway filming was happening. By then Soudais had been posting Instagram stories and he followed Bennett soon after filming the same day that photo leaked.
Conclusion:
Rami Malek's character - the lead villain - is involved in the Norway sequence. Therefore, there is a very large likelihood that the sequences plays out in the present day and is not a flashback.
The end.
The famous make up artist Barrie Gower who is a specialist of this type of transformation ( he made the prosthetics for Meryl Streep in "the Iron Lady" for exemple) works on the movie, Malek also said in an interview that he won't be like we usually see him physically. and there are too many similitudes with this scene and the Madeleine childhood story for this not being a flashback.
But i could be wrong, all of these are just speculations so...
To be continued...
Then again, I don't think they're going for that.
Ah, then we would never have had that fantastic little kid in MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.
"You are very handsome man, forty baht."
Or maybe, not.
Malick is unsuccessful and that forces Madeleine to seek out Blofeld as he may have some info based on his underworld connections.
There is a chance that Malek is Blofeld's son. I hope not, but there is a chance.
I personally think that Malek will be a blackmarket fixer. Someone people hire when they need something. I think the Russians have hired him to kidnap a scientist for a nefarious plot they are involved in.
Perhaps David Dencik is playing the Russian who hired Malek? He recently played Gorbachev in Chernobyl...
With the CIA involved, I can't see the Russians not involved somehow.
Especially after seeing Russian car plates during Norway filming on Atlantic Road.
Probably i quite agree that she could be the scientist even if i think that she would have a bigger part if it was the case ,but she could be killed or something while Bond and co try to rescue her.
The other thing that makes me believe that Malek is PROBABLY Blofeld himself or heavily linked to him is the fact that we still don't know the character's name at this point, (they could at least give him a fake name like Oberhauser...but here nothing) or maybe he plays a character well known in the franchise... (Emilio Largo maybe ? And young Madeleine shot in his eye in the Norway sequence? A new version of Dr No as rumored before ?)
agreed !
I'm still thinking that Rami Malek is playing a rebooted Dr No......mark my words.
It would be better to create new characters.
Totally. With SPECTRE most of the plot was clear even to me that I hadn't read the leaks.
I agree with both of you, especially on Malek being Dr. No.
I'll admit, it does seem a little lazy to just reboot a villain. Essentially, they'd only be taking his name and making an entirely new character around it. In effect, it's basically being used to generate a headline and hype the film.
Personally, I'd rather they didn't. I want Malek to play a new baddie. His character is the biggest question-mark at the moment.
I'm most curious how they will dress him, as he has a marvellous and very individualistic style.
What an eccentric young man
