Agreed. Let's wait and see what happens. Zimmer is not God and if it sounds like a rushjob we can criticize it together ;-)
And if it rocks I promise to be among the first ones to admit it ;-).

As mentioned in the song thread, it seems Zimmer will be incorporating the title song in his score.

Dunno what the extent will be. I'm setting my expectations low with just one track. If he does a lot more than that, then goody.

News just gets better on this film, who would have thought that we would end up with the most high profile composer of the day scoring this?

All those wanting the theme part of the score are getting their wish it seems.

Can't wait to hear the first preview of what Zimmer has in store for us.

Magnificent news, the reveals on this film just get better and better.

If Bliiie Eilish delivers a substandard theme ( and I say if) it will be more than enough that HZ and Marr are working on the score.

I so love the emotion and power in his Inception score.

Yeah i really just need him to write inception part 2. Thats the best we can hope for. Especially since knowing that he took inspiration from OHMSS for it.

Also this track sounds like something straight out of CR (Bahamas/Miami), like Arnold could have written it:
    Starts around 0:20

Thanks for that; yeah that’s certainly got a Bond feel. I’m sure he’ll come up with an even more appropriate feel to whatever he’s making.

What a weird article: the quotes almost seem a bit too vague. If that’s what he said about Ellish (I think?) then it does seem likely he’s using the song, yes. I guess it could mean he’s producing her song though, or arranging strings or something. Hard to say.

Nice to see in print Zimmer saying "I love Bond".

I'm glad Newman wasn't asked to return. There were moments in the scores of Skyfall and Spectre that I enjoyed, but overall they left me underwhelmed. I never find myself wanting to listen to the OST like I would OHMSS or TLD for example. I personally love Zimmer, particularly his work on the Batman Trilogy and Inception. This will be the best score of the Craig era, IMO.

Not that he need, but let's help Hans Zimmer with track names.

35-36 tracks on 2Cd's, 12-13 tracks more for the unknown scenes then i can credit / think about.
I also think some tracks should hide more then one scene.

    1. Double O
    2. 54
    3. Who direct this
    4. Do something Greene
    5. Time
    6. To Die
    7. Masquerade
    8. To cats to feed
    9. Visiter

When Hans Zimmer was announced, I had mixed views on it. Zimmer can be brilliant, but he can also be something of a hack who actually lets an army of assistants do most of the work under his name after he came up with a three note theme.

However, his words and his decisions since the announcement are extremely promising, because the Zimmer we're getting seems to go in the right direction. Given Marr's involvement, it won't be a drone-heavy score, and there may be callbacks to early era Bond, when the guitar was featured prominently in the score. Remember that, for the 25th anniversary and Licence to Kill, Eric Clapton wanted to work with Vic Flick and update the James Bond Theme. It looks like we'll be getting that update.

Also, a reminder that it was Zimmer who scored Terrence Malick's The Thin Red Line:

Impeccable....except No.4 has already done by Newman though. Or maybe Zimmer has a new theme for Madeleine.

Ooh, this is fun, proposed tracklists! @antovolk, yours is excellent, some great titles, great use of lines from the trailer.
Won't top that, but here's my attempt:
    1. Gunbarrel / A Masked Visitor
    2. Under the Ice
    3. No Time To Die
    4. When in Matera
    5. Not the Sentimental Type / Grave Danger
    6. A Leap of Fate
    7. Take The Aston For a Spin
    8. Retired and Wasted
    9. Need A Favour
    10. The New 007
    11. Gassed Guests
    12. Close, But No Cigar
    13. London Calling
    14. Just Visiting
    15. A Familiar Face
    16. Bond To Norway
    17. History Isn't Kind
    18. My Own Reflection
    19. Who Can You Trust
    20. The Masks Fall Off
    21. We Have All The Time In The World
    22. You Know My Number, You Know My Name
    23. No Time To Die (Instrumental)

As you can see, some subtle ways to bring themes from past films back. I'm also a big fan of transitional cues, which is why I listed two of them.

    Edit: Haha, @Torgeirtrap, "Where's Waldo", that's a great name for a track! :))

Loving some of the track titles being suggested, but I think it's a strong possibility we'll get a shorter number of tracks with longer runtimes that aren't in film order, as is the norm with initial Zimmer releases.

A lot of the lines we've heard already in the trailer would make pretty good track titles, some of which remind me of titles on other Zimmer scores. "Men Who Play God" could have come straight off one of his DC scores, for example! :)

    1. *Long After I'm Gone
    2. History Of Violence
    3. Lose Control
    4. We All Have Our Secrets
    5. Men Who Play God
    6. The One That Works
    7. You're Not Dead
    8. **Where Is 007?
    9. The World's Moved On
    10. The Death Of You
    11. Bond, James Bond.

    * Safin's Theme
    ** Nomi's Theme (Devil's advocate suggestion, there)

    P.s. "Where's Waldo" is inspired, @Torgeirtrap :))

A bit off topic, but Mendes was just being interviewed on Classic FM and said he thought that although Skyfall was the stronger of his two Bonds, Spectre had the 'more confident' score. Interesting to hear his thoughts.

Johnny Marr's name is not in the Eon press release. I guess Marr is merely contributing? I know that he scored The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Freeheld with Zimmer and contributed to the scores of Inception by playing the guitar. Is this what you have heard @antovolk ?

So I guess we are getting the Bond theme on the guitar from Johnny Marr...as a lifelong Smiths fan, this is truly great news. It was always cooler to like Johnny Marr over Morrissey.

I never read it as him coming on as co-composer, to be honest. I figured he'd just be laying down some guitar work.

Have just listened to the Inception score and I think this could be the best Bond score since The Living Daylights.

The thing is if you don't like Nolan's films and also don't enjoy Zimmer's scores I'm not going to convince you but thing I get from his Nolan work is emotion.

I've always thought that Inception is my favourite HZ Nolan score because (for me anyway) he gives the film an emotional heightening, he does it with his Batman scores but here I really feel it.

Also the motif of the theme is carried throughout here, something that Newman chose not to really do with his 2 scores. Yes Arnold does it but really DA is not in the same bracket as Zimmer when it comes to scoring.

Inception though is much more serious and not really as playful as a Bond film but NTTD will no doubt have the emotion possibly similar if not more to the way that Skyfall dialled this up and CR to a degree.

So no Zimmer won't just copy and paste this score, he knows what a big deal Bond is and I can see him adapting to that effectively. Barry like he clearly influenced Hans in his Inception score will be present.

Though it won't be an aping it will be his own take, also having a theme carry throughout the film in different arrangements. He might not have collaborated on Elish's theme but I imagine he has had access to it and will be incorporating the melody into his score.

Maybe the released Eilish version like Cornell's YKMN will have the orchestration dialled up for the main titles version, I guess we'll see.

Although those wanting a thematic element that continues and reprises are likely to get their wish here, its something that Zimmer seems to do and I can't see it changing especially as this is James Bond.

I really can't wait for this, Marr's involvement I always took to be just a contribution as it is on the Inception score and other work.

This has undoubtedly raised the bar on contributors, how do they top this?

So Billie Eilish is 18, who cares about artists that old? She is way past it. They should have gone with someone around seven or eight. Keep it fresh and relevant.

Scary to think she would have been 4 nearly 5 when Casino Royale came out.
