Why New Cars Keep FAILING the Moose Test

To Moose Test or not to Moose Test, that is the question ???

    Mooo....

Seems like a proper test to me. It goes to show that SUV's are far from safer than normal cars, and that just putting battaries in a normal car doesn't make for safe driving either. Interesting video.

Any Moose's on the road where you live Ross ?
Ford Mustang Mach-E fails the Moose Test

The Tesla y and Ionic 5 do much better.

Depends if you mean that litterally or not. Plenty of 'mooses' that just walk onto the road without warning, and hitting them is just as bad an idea as hitting a moose. BUt other than that, no, I'm not from Scandinavia ;-)

That Piëch GT is quite pretty, but it seems silly to design an electric car with a long bonnet and a radiator opening when it doesn’t need those. It’s not a front engined car so it shouldn’t look like one.

At the 2019 GENEVA MOTOR SHOW there is a cooling device at the front.
It could be cooling for the battery ?
Looks better with the grille anyway.
    3 engines,1 at the front.

This looks better with the grille.

For those who have seen NTTD, I was pleasantly surprised to see
both classic Aston Martins of course, but also a 1990’s Maserati Quattroporte and a 2000’s Lancia Thesis. Two stunners as far as I’m concerned.

Also, the theater here in Belgium where I went to watch NTTD had a FYEO Citroën 2CV exhibited in the lobby.

Just this year, more than 64 million cars have been manufactured in the world, and over a million people killed in road/car accidents.

On the moon there are just six cars and no people, so pretty safe.

Here's an article from the German newsmagazine DER SPIEGEL's online version about the first big hit by Giorgio Giugiaro: https://spiegel.de/auto/fahrkultur/bizzarrini-manta-radikaler-rochen-a-d6d2b1fe-275a-4f0c-9877-8973a5e48319

It's in German, so please use Google Translate or deepl.com to render it understandable.

@j_w_pepper , that car must have been a blueprint for these two very different beasts:

The hapless 1973 Matra Simca Bagheera, with 3 front seats and winner of the Golden Lemon for the worst car in Germany a year later.
    image-react169Big-dc1374ee-203648.jpg

And the 1971 BMW Turbo X1 concept:
    1972-bmw-turbo-concept1972-bmw-turbo-concept.jpg

As always, Giugiaro was ahead of the times. The Manta is from 1968, yet with most of the design elements of the later cars.

While going to buy some groceries, I saw a grey Alpine today :

At least, I think it was that model. Still, rare enough it made my little petrolhead heart skip a beat.

Slightly underwhelming in terms of a new design but it does look quality, the rear end especially is very cool.

    It's a nice car that's way overpriced.

Jaguar F-TYPE range now V8 only
Six-cylinder and four-pot engines dropped, with V8 to be retired by 2025 as EV overhaul looms

I must admit that I don't like the F-Type. It doesn't say "Jaguar" to me, but rather "Ford". I much prefer the S-Type :

    Tesla is overpriced crap.

Most of their models are cheaply made (and some are rather ugly) and I'm sick of the press drooling about everything Tesla/Musk says or does.
