Completely agree mate it does capture Fleming, there's moments were Fleming's Bond jump off the screen. Daniel nails being Fleming's Bond
@FoxRox if you have time, do it mate. Unfortunately it might be a while before Bond 26. As much I dislike parts of NTTD, there's something magical about seeing Bond on the big screen and nothing beats it
But let's not turn every non-spoiler thread into a spoiler thread just yet.
It's still to be released in the Philippines 15th December, poor buggers.
What would you say your nitpicks are after nine viewings?
Oh, tiny things I personally would have changed if I had made the film, but that I also don't consider inherently "bad." I think my biggest individual one is Felix's line about "getting back to [his] family," it's a bit of a cliche and I think having him ONLY say "I want to save the world again" would have been just as fine. That kind of shows you my feelings about the film if THAT'S the biggest thing I'd have changed :)) :))
Some other miniscule things that, again, aren't even negatives really, I just would have cut them together a bit differently...
- the Universal dots blocking out the first couple frames of the smaller dots, but this is a distributor thing and isn't even on every copy of the film, so I don't know if it even counts
- I don't know if Nomi needed to be in the establishing shot of the club in Jamaica; I think seeing her at the side of the road and then bumping into Bond later during the club scene was sufficient
- During the Norway chase, three motorcycles come after Bond in the open field, but in the forest, Madeleine takes out one and Bond takes out another, leaving one that just kind of disappears. I've settled this one in my head by thinking that the third motorcycle simply wiped out in the open field and we just didn't get to see it happen.
- The reveal of the smashed vial in Safin's hand feels like it should have come with the "poisoned with heartbreak" line; we get it a few moments later instead
I had to REALLY reach for all of these :)) :)) :))
Especially considering the last line of the film. Tonally, it wouldn't have worked, but it would have made thematic sense to play YKMN after Madeleine's final line.
True, though that shot of the LED dance floor reflecting off of Nomi's sunglasses is so damn slick, I would've kept it for that reason alone.
Blofeld pointing out Bond’s remark about Swann being good at hiding things doesn’t make sense I would’ve cut it.
I also have a problem with Bond making breakfast, but that’s just me perhaps.
Then I would’ve put much weight on Safin being sterile because of the poisoning, because that would’ve made his obsession of leaving something behind more poignant.
Plus, the scene were he just let Mathilde go is weak and kinda random.
Nope. Bond literally say that to M the scene before.
I like the breakfast scene. But your other points, especially the ones about Safin, could definitely be improved (but I still like the finale a lot the way it is).
I feel like a new NTTD thread should be made for the Review subforum.
I think it's a good idea, as well, something I was thinking about over the last few days. I'll get it started shortly, once we figure out what to do with this one.
Bond never cooks his own meals. That's what May was for. In his world food just shows up according to Fleming, so it's not just you.
Not everything have to be plainly spelled to the audiences like Nolan does.
Yep. It was discussed as well in another thread. Very cool anyway!
I had no idea, hadn't seen that mentioned until now. That's great.
Does Madeleine not actually take out two of the bikers? One when they arrive at the shelter, and then another one when Bond is off doing his Ewok thing - it’s a very brief ‘blink and you miss it’ shot in the movie
This is how I remember it. Things might've gone differently had Bond left her that second handgun.
I thought that after my second or third viewing, but the person she shoots right before Safin is revealed isn't wearing the motorcycle gear, he's in more standard fatigues.
Ah, I missed that detail - it’s a pretty brief moment in an intense scene
I was tempted to but decided not....home telly is much more comfortable... :D
