Perhaps, but maybe those relationships weren't meant to be anyway? :)

Fair enough. A lockdown can be a good endurance test then. ;-)

Would think so! Some relationships will probably come out of the situation stronger too.

I successfully proposed to my girlfriend during the lockdown. Our only hope is we can actually get married next summer. ;-) In any case, we've been together almost 24/7 since March 13th and no quarrels so far.

Well, maybe one. She flat-out hated Rocky and refuses to watch Rocky II. I kept it civil, but oh boy... :p

Congrats! I, myself, as I get older find myself becoming more and more like Fleming himself, and don't like the idea of being tied down - not sure what that says about me, but there it is.

Congratulations! I guess a few movie related quarrels are to be expected, but she's hopefully worth it even though she don't like Rocky! :)

Thank you @BonSimonLeBon_1 and @Torgeirtrap. It's not easy making arrangements during a pandemic, but hey, "love conquers all", doesn't it? :)

@BonSimonLeBon_1 I too used to think that being tied down was not for me. Until I met a person who was definitely worth being tied down with, if that makes any sense. :)

@Torgeirtrap Yeah, we never really get into any serious fights over any of that, but I have already had to defend Rocky, Dr. Strangelove, Scarface and HEAT. :p

@DarthDimi I guess the pandemic gives you time to start planning things too – even though going through with those plans may be more difficult. Whenever I hear friends in relationships mention that it's difficult to make plans with their better halves, it's often due to lack of time to sit down and actually make those plans. Everyday life gets in the way too easily.

She's making movie nights difficult it seems! :)) Hopefully you have some films you both like!

Yes, people are returning from their sangria parties on Mallorca, and the like. And will probably start complaining about their freedom being infringed by tests and masks and other restrictions.

Same here in the swamp next door. But we still have a health institute saying mouthcovers masks 'probably don't have any effect', even thought the whole world is wearing them. But there's no literature study to prove it...

Masks make a real difference, of course. Especially if everybody (or nearly everybody) is wearing them. Very important, so is avoiding crowds, all of that. People get tired of adhering to precautions, but we have many MANY months before we get a safe vaccine. Perhaps most of the population can afford to risk their health; I cannot.

It's not a question of "affording" to risk one's health -- it's a question of having bought in to the lies of a life-long con man. Even if the con man's lies aren't consistent, too many have decided that the scientific conclusions of medical professionals hold no power over them. They've been brainwashed to disbelieve the pronouncements of librul "elitists" for so long that it's become a political litmus test. Just don't ask the wrong person to wear a mask at the wrong time...they may decide to pull a gun on you.

Which backwards banana republic are you t-- oh, wait. ;)
All joking aside, @4EverBonded is correct. We are many months away from a vaccine. Taking precautions is not that hard: keep your distance, which costs you nothing, and wear a mask, which costs you little. A small price for something we all want: a good health.

Or beat you to death, as it happened in France in recent weeks.

@BonSimonLeBon_1 Deaths tend to lag by several weeks compared to confirmed cases. The more sadder expanation, is that the people more vulnerable to die quickly were already killed in the first wave (elderly people, or people with other health problems).

So much of human behaviour is the pursuit of pleasure regardless of consequence. And so much is based on tribalism of various kinds.

It’s quite fascinating really. Forget all the technology and what not we have, we’re still basically great apes.

Yes, indeed. Let's hope they don't rise. Cases are now levelling off which does suggest it is just more cases being caught. Let's hope so anyway.

The UK is officially in recession for the first time in 11 years.

Between April and June, the economy shrank 20.4% compared to January-March.

This is the biggest recession ever recorded in the UK.
