I think many of us are looking forward to being able to do some of the
little things we used to take for granted again. I for instance am looking
    forward to having a haircut.
Haircuts are possible these days in Germany, however only with some extra precautions: Of course all involved have to wear masks, there must be only a limited number of customers, and the hair has to be washed first. However, even this was forbidden during January and February, so I got my haircut with an actual delay of two months in early March. I consoled myself with the indisputable fact that my hair was still quite a lot longer in the early Seventies, and I still wasn't the shaggiest kid on the block either, neither then nor now.

I knew it wouldn't be long before MI6's very own conspiracy theorist would be on here dissing the vaccines, and getting caught up in believing they are not safe.

Why not post this link instead - https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-afs:Content:9957832237

All the world and European medical health organisers have said the vaccines are safe, and outweigh any risks that have cropped up with clot deaths which are still very much in the minority, when compared to the millions that have now been vaccinated.

But instead you continue to believe BS like this on the internet. Seriously mate, grow up.

"Sir, my wife is bleeding to death!"
"Step aside, mister, we'll take her to the hospital immediately."
"Oh, well, in that case, just leave her on the floor; I won't risk the ambulance getting involved in a traffic accident."

"We've got nothing to eat; let's shop."
"I don't trust those food producers with all their additives and artificial sweeteners and pesticides and mercury in fish."
"You're right. I guess we better starve to death than risk poisoning from consuming inordinate amounts of that food, which we never will."

"I want to stay healthy! There's a forest nearby. I'm going to run a couple of miles and then walk a few more."
"You know, someone was killed in that forest in 1965!"
"You don't say... Well, then I'm staying home, on my couch."

    "Let's make babies!"
"Honey, some people suffer heart attacks after sex."
"You're right. Abstinence from now on!"

"Coffee helps me to start the day. And it is said to help prevent Alzheimer's."
"Every year, a couple of people from all over the world die from heart failure after drinking coffee."
"No way! No more coffee for me, then."

    Need I go on?

:)) I heard a similar discussion this morning seeing my daughter off to University.
I've had it and will Happily skip in to the surgery for my second. If you don't want
it, then Don't have it, But Please don't try and stop me.
I find it amazing how many are joining the Anti-vax community. Every single
drug or medicine you put in your body can have side effects, that's always a
possibility, it's usually a tiny chance as the benefits out weigh the illness.

possibility, it's usually a tiny chance as the benefits out weigh the illness.

It's even less of a problem with vaccines. Medicines and drugs actually do things in our body; vaccines, by contrast, merely provoke an immune response. They trigger something that is already coded in our DNA. Potential side-effects from the immune response itself (like feeling feverish) would be much worse when a non-vaccinated person actually gets infected. Not everyone may survive such an immune response, unfortunately, but that shouldn't keep us from taking a vaccine. Not all mothers survive giving birth to a child, not every person survives a seemingly simple flu and some harmless wounds may end up being lethal. Tragic though this may be, the statistics still favour the living in these cases and women shouldn't be discouraged from getting pregnant, staying home a few days helps to battle the flu in most cases and a little disinfectant is still sufficient to treat most surface wounds. Likewise, the risks of being among those few unfortunate casualties of an immune response still pale in comparison to the risk of suffering tremendously from, and possibly dying from, the actual disease.

Our corona vaccines contain little bits of RNA. They will not screw with your DNA! Your DNA is safely stored in your cellular nuclei. The RNA from the vaccine cannot penetrate the nucleus; it functions elsewhere. It will not genetically reshape you, turn you into a three-eyed mutant or render you barren. It will only alert your immune system that now is the time to get ready for war. Vaccines also contain small amounts of compounds needed to keep the RNA from breaking down, to allow it to be transported in the blood, and so on. These compounds will not poison you! One such compound may be formaldehyde, which anti-vaxxers are quick to point out is poisonous. And it is, except in doses well above those that are present in one vaccine shot. Eat a pear, and you will get 50 times as much formaldehyde in your blood, and even that amount is still far below dangerous levels. Lastly, we cannot inject you with microchips when administering a vaccine. Even our most sophisticated and downsized microchips are dumb and dead constructs, several orders of magnitude too large to do all the crazy things some conspiracy nuts believe they might. Also, they will need an energy source. Where's the battery that runs them? So no, vaccines aren't part of some P.K. Dick conspiracy to control us all.

As for these latest thromboses, it is still far from confirmed that they are linked to the vaccines themselves, but I cannot look into the future of course. Maybe a link will be found, something that says more about the patients than about the vaccine itself, most likely. Some people aren't even allowed to be on a plane because they have a higher risk of blood clotting, or they need specific drugs or pieces of clothing before flying on a plane. So if even marginal forms of blood clotting affect some people measurably while most others barely notice them, then something similar could be going on with the AZ vaccines. The fact remains that the blood clotting issue doesn't keep most of us from flying, and also that tens of millions of AZ vaccines have already been administered with next to no complaints apart from the normal side-effects from a vaccination and needle sting, complaints that usually go away very fast. These thromboses are still an issue within a vast minority; even with numbers increasing, as @Thunderfinger pointed out, we are talking about needles in a haystack. And even if some people are at risk of suffering such a thrombose, the risks involved with the actual infection are still many times greater!

I understand the defensive reactions to news coverage about thromboses and vaccines, but let's be honest. Some of our members smoke and will continue to smoke; yet the risks of eventually suffering greatly and endlessly are so much larger than the risk of having a vaccine cause harm. Many of us enjoy fast food, processed meat and sweet beverages, but we are slowly poisoning and destroying our bodies that way, risking cancers of various types, diabetes, and more. Many people consume way more alcohol than they should, with irreparable damage to the liver and other organs as a consequence. Yet people don't worry about that when buying that sixpack or stacking the wine cellar. Worse, we scoff and laugh it off whenever some health guru warns us that all of those small pleasures in life will eventually take their toll. We consider ourselves invincible; what happened to that guy on TV surely won't happen to me; and people don't have to lecture me on what I can do and what I cannot do: it's my body and I can eat, drink and smoke it to hell if I want to! Meanwhile, I'll just continue to pump anti-depressants, aspirin and sleeping pills in my system like a boss. That's the "normal" way of living. And sports? Forget it! I sit on the job, I sit at home: I laugh at heart attacks...

...but I won't take a vaccine because there might be a point-oh-oh-oh-something percent chance of a thrombose? Come on!

I'll wait until those in need actually get it. They've lowered the age to 18, but until the elderly and people with conditions get theirs, I'm not cutting in line and taking an appointment for those who actually need it before me.

A poem by Norman Wanstall (sound editor).
    Daily Mail
    Today’s poem

Every day I watch the news To check up on the virus,
But now I fear I rarely hear Some words that would inspire us.
Our country’s now in lockdown, Including shops and schools,
So every day We must obey The various regs and rules.
    Because I’m in my 80s I’ve been told I shouldn’t roam,
They say it’s best I take a rest And stay inside my home.
But when I must go shopping I feel safe in empty stores,
I simply must Arrive there just Before they close the doors.
As for socialising Which a lockdown always ends
I use my phone As I’m alone To FaceTime all my friends.
I do feel for the people Who are striving to survive
It’s tragic how The lockdown now Has totally changed their lives.
I’m just a golden oldie, Who prays it won’t be long,
Before the day When we can say The Covid threat has gone.
The answer’s in the vaccine As we have so much to gain,
And the time will come When everyone Can live their lives again.

"Because the five cases occurred in a population of more than 130,000 vaccinated persons, we propose that they represent a rare vaccine-related variant of spontaneous heparin-induced thrombocytopenia that we refer to as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia."

I'm still not discouraged from taking a vaccine. If these numbers were troublesome, then logic dictates we don't step into a motor vehicle either.

The troublesome thing is that this has happened to young and healthy people. It isn t just these five, these were the ones incorporated into this study. If this doesn t worry you, then why does the virus?

Because the risk of suffering tremendously, or possibly dying, from the virus are several orders of magnitude bigger than the risks involved with these (or any) vaccine, that's why.

I presented a simple analogy last time. If I'm bleeding to death, I'll happily risk a ride in an ambulance to get to the hospital. Sure, there's always the risk of a traffic accident, but that's still marginal compared to what could happen if I cannot be properly treated.

Tens of millions of people have been vaccinated so far. Let's talk about the tens of millions of people who never developed any serious complaints.

Not really. In my country, these people have already been vaccinated. And guess what, they rarely appear in the death numbers anymore. Yet every day, in the past week or so, about 40 people in my country have died due to Covid. Most of them are "young" people. That means that right now, every week, in Belgium alone, more "young" people die from Covid than there are cases reported of thrombosis.

The notion that only very old or ill or weak people die from Covid is very 2020, mate. We know better now.

I don't get what it is about vaccines that you want to prove to us, @Thunderfinger. Surely, you are smarter than to zoom in on a statistical margin and conclude from that that it's better to walk around "unprotected" than to get a vaccine with over 99% chance that you'll barely feel an itch afterwards.

Also, you were one of those people questioning why we are willing to give up our "freedoms" in this pandemic and all. Well, aren't you happy now? Just get a vaccine and you'll be contributing to the group effort of regaining most of our precious freedoms...

No thanks. I don t want neither viral infections, nor the vaccine. These vaccines won t get a proper approval until December 2023 at the earliest. They are still to be labelled as experimental.

Very few people here have gotten sick from this virus, and almost no one has died whose lives weren t just about finished anyway. I understand things may be different elsewhere, and I am sorry for those who suffer and die, and for their loved ones.

One cannot always protect oneself 100 percent from a virus, but one can always protect oneself 100 percent from dubious vaccines. People don t just die from them, many have also become blind.

What? You are delusional, sir, completely and utterly delusional! This is madness. "Almost no one has died whose lives weren't just about finished anyway." Three million people have died (that we know of) from the consequences of a Covid-related infection! Are you telling me that all of them had it coming? Are you saying that all those young people whose lungs are barely functioning several months since suffering from Covid were almost finished anyway? Are you willing to repeat this to one of my fellow mods who lost both of his parents last year to Covid, healthy people who were working in hospitals treating people like you who shrug it all off? I can't believe I'm reading this.
One cannot always protect oneself 100 percent from a virus, but one can always protect oneself 100 percent from dubious vaccines. People don t just die from them, many have also become blind.

So you are absolutely clueless about how vaccines have helped to triple our life expectancy? You have never viewed mortality rates amongst children before we had vaccines against polio, measles, ...? Oh, yeah, suuuuure, many have gone blind... Let me guess, autistic as well? You a fan of that ludicrous Andrew Wakefield and his utter nonsense? Wait, QAnon perhaps? Wearing your tin foil hat, mate? Don't worry, those evil vaccinators won't inject you with dangerous nanobots so that "the government" can control you...

You are living in a different reality, @Thunderfinger.

I know some people have long term health issues, and as for these experimental vaccines, the verdict still isn t in.

I am not anti-vaccine out of some principle. My son got his vaccines as a baby. I had tetanus vaccine myself some years ago. I even took a flu vaccine, although in retrospect that was pointless.

Where does QAnon, nanobots and whatever other drivel you spew out come into it? And you talk about reality.

Fine, @Thunderfinger, keep focusing on the infinitessimally small numbers while the rest of us do what we can to contribute to a global solution. Don't worry; you needn't accept a vaccine. Somebody else will happily take yours. I won't argue with you about this anymore because, sadly, you have constructed your own reality in which vaccines are evil.

Just do us all a favour, will you, and comment instead of just sharing links. Last time I checked, this wasn't facebook; we talk here.

The valid information and official line from all the main scientific bodies is taking the vaccine far outweighs the risk of getting a clot. You've probably got more chance of getting a clot if you actually catch Covid.

But still you choose to ignore this. Anyway, each to their own. Fortunately the majority of the UK population have seen sense and opted to take the jab to get us out of this mess.

For those who refuse the jab, I really hope a vaccine passport does come into effect, so the selfish vaccine deniers get totally restricted in their everyday daily life.

Right now, in France, the big scandal involves private dinners hosted by an art collector, with the help of a famous chefs, dinners that gathered more than thirty people in a parisian palace, including, some say, members of the governement. To say that people are somewhat angry about that is putting it mildly.

Coronavirus Victoria: Vaccine pause to continue for under 50s
The pause on administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to one age group in Victoria will continue until these issues are resolved.

Victoria’s pause on administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to those under 50 will continue temporarily, the government says.

Acting Premier James Merlino said on Monday the pause would continue until three things were resolved.

These include consumer information from the commonwealth being translated in languages other than English, compulsory education for staff and a resolution to indemnity issues.

The pause on administering the vaccine last week came after advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) following blood clotting concerns linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

    Sanity prevails!

Well done, and of course you shouldn't be concerned, as any rational, informed, balanced human being wouldn't be either.

As for the sad minority out there who are too scared of their own shadow, and refuse to take the jab, I pity them at best, and hope they catch Covid full on max at worst.

None essential shops and Pubs (rule of six in beer gardens only) reopen in UK today. After the hour point in the video it gets busier. Make of this what you will. @ 1hr 40 minutes people doing what they tend to after a few beers.

This somewhat contradicts it being mandatory to wear masks and social distance in a shop.
