James Bond star Daniel Craig says he once considered a career as a journalist in Beirut, but decided it was too dangerous.

The award-winning British told Men’s Journal that during Lebanon’s 15-year Civil War in the 1980s he went out drinking with war correspondent friends in Beirut, which made him think about pursuing the same career.

“They’d asked me to come along with them. We had late-night drinking sessions where Beirut was an option,” Men’s Journal quoted him as saying. “Over a couple of drinks it seemed like a good idea at the time.”

“That takes a level of bravery I don’t have,” he later acknowledged.
