  It's no surprise that the upcoming James Bond film has a big budget, but we didn't think it would be this large.
  
  Today we found out that the producers behind 'No Time To Die' have spent a whopping £55,000 on 8,400 gallons of Coca Cola. Now, this isn't to quench the thirst of the crew but actually to help film a car stunt.

  According to stunt boss Lee Morrison, Daniel Craig came up with this idea to allow his stunt double driver Paul Edwards hit a 25ft ramp at 60mph, clear a wall and land on cobbles with no problems.

  So, the film crew went and bought almost 9,000 gallons of the soft drink that, once dried, left a sticky residue on the stones so the vehicle wouldn't slide around the place. But to be fair to the team, once cleaned off, it should leave the cobblestones of Matera, Italy looking cleaner than ever.
  
  Unfortunately, you won't be able to see this stunt for a while as the film has been delayed yet again until April 2021 [later delayed], so fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

  Heineken® today reveals a new commercial concepted in collaboration with Daniel Craig called ‘Worth The Wait’, which celebrates the highly anticipated release of the new James Bond film No Time To Die.
  
  The advert shows Daniel Craig waiting patiently for the first satisfying sip of an ice-cold Heineken® beer, an ode to fans who have eagerly awaited the next installment of the franchise and showing that the best things come to those who wait.
  
  No Time To Die will be released internationally in cinemas from September 30 2021 through Universal Pictures International and in the U.S. on October 8 from Metro Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) via their United Artist Releasing banner.
  
  Bram Westenbrink, Global Head Heineken® Brand, said: “Heineken® has been a proud partner of James Bond films since 1997. So, like all Bond fans, we also can’t wait for No Time To Die to hit cinemas. That said, we believe some things really are worth waiting for. And now we can prove it.   Testing the truth behind the sentiment, Heineken® carried out a real-world social experiment to prove that good things are indeed worth the wait. In the experiment, 115 people were given cold Heineken® or Heineken® 0.0 beer at intervals between 0-30 minutes, showing that people who waited 20 minutes had the highest levels of satisfaction.

  • Participants who waited 20 minutes showed the highest satisfaction levels with their beer (41%)
  • Participants who waited 30 minutes had the highest satisfaction scores with the taste of the beer (31%)
  • 4 in 10 participants attribute the anticipation of receiving their beer to their satisfaction.
  • More than half of the participants (56%) agree that they enjoy things more when they have to wait for them a little.
  • If participants could choose, they feel that a 6.4-minute wait would be the optimal time to have waited for their beer. However, our research found that satisfaction peaked in the 20 minutes wait group. Implying that instant, or at least quicker gratification, is not as satisfying as people might think.

  Daria A Bakina, PhD, Social Psychologist and Research Director at Edelman Data & Intelligence, said: “This research follows a long tradition of conducting experiments in the “real world”, under real circumstances, within the field of social psychology. The findings of this study show that waiting may not be a bad thing – in fact, there’s more enjoyment after needing to overcome an obstacle like a 20 minute wait for a refreshing “Perfect Pour.”

  James Bond's latest mission No Time to Die may have been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but a brand new Funko POP! range has just been revealed ready for the film's new November release.

  The collection of figures, which will also be released in November to tie in with the movie's arrival, features a ready-for-action Bond (Daniel Craig) wearing the blue jumper, combat trousers and boots he is seen sporting in the film's trailer and wielding a gun.
  
  You can also get your hands on a figure of villainous Safin (Rami Malek) in a hooded jacket and white face mask and carrying a rifle, while agent Nomi (Lashana Lynch) is also available in an all-black combat outfit.
  
  You can also get a Funko POP! figure of agent Paloma (Ana de Armas), who is looking stylish in a long ball gown and silver hoop earring.
  
  Also now available is a Roger Moore Moonraker figure, who wears a very fetching silver spacesuit.

  All of the new Funko POP!s can be pre-ordered at Pop in a Box UK now ahead of their release in November, with each figure costing £9.99. Or you could always grab two for £18.99 if you can't decide which is your favourite.
  
  No Time to Die will be Daniel Craig's final outing as Bond and will also see the returns of Léa Seydoux as Dr Madeleine Swann, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M and Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner.
  
  We still have a little while to wait until we get to see No Time to Die but the filmmakers have been keeping us going with occasional glimpses at the film through new photos.
  
  Director Cary Joji Fukunaga has revealed that he chose not to re-edit the movie at all once it had been delayed, explaining that he had "mentally finished the film" already.

  There have been a total of 27 James Bond films produced when you take into account the 25 from Eon Productions and two additional feature films produced.   The Royal Mint has announced the launch of its James Bond commemorative coin and gold bar collection ahead of the release of the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die. The collection includes a number of Royal Mint firsts – a 7 kilo gold coin, which is the largest coin with the highest face value to be produced in the Mint’s 1,100-year history and the world’s first James Bond bar in gold and silver, featuring all of the 25 official James Bond film titles.

  
  

  The release of 'No Time to Die' may have been delayed further, now scheduled to release next April, but that has not stopped the Royal Mint from announcing the 3rd and final coin in this much sought after series. Following on from the fantastic first 2 issues, 'Bond James Bond' and 'Pay Attention 007' the final coin features James Bond in his tuxedo along with a famous quote from the films 'Shaken not Stirred[/b]' Sean Connery was the first Bond actor to make the quote in the 3rd film 'Goldfinger' (1964). The quote refers to how James Bond prefers his vodka martini to be prepared, and appeared in many of the Bond films with the exception of 'You Only Live Twice' (1967) when Bond is asked "stirred, not shaken" and in Casino Royale (2006) he is asked if he wants his martini shaken or stirred and snaps, "Do I look like I give a damn?"

  Earlier this year Swatch released the [v]Swatch x 007[/b] collection made up of six watches, each inspired by a James Bond movie from 1962 to 2006, in the lead-up to the premiere of the latest Bond flick, No Time to Die. Then the watchmaker worked with the movie’s design team to imagine a watch suitable for Q, the MI6 gadget chief who outfits Bond in every film, resulting in the ²Q.
  
  It was originally launched in March 2020 as a limited edition with red accents – Ben Whishaw as Q in the film will be wearing one – but now the blue version has been unveiled to coincide with the film’s release. But because No Time to Die has been delayed yet again, to April 2021, the watch is going it alone.
  
  Initial thoughts
  Unlike Swatch x 007 watches from earlier in the year that were elaborate in style and colour, the ²Q is pared-back and slightly mechanical in style, but avoids being boring thanks to an open dial and red accents. It is surprisingly interesting to see the insides of a quartz watch, which is not often revealed since mechanical movements are more commonly exposed.
  
  The design is simple but executed well. For instance, the red flange slopes downwards to the brushed chapter ring for the hours, adding some depth to the face.
  
  At 42 mm in diameter, the ²Q is larger than earlier 007 editions. That also holds true for the price, which at US$220 is also steeper than usual, but still eminently affordable compared to Omega’s 007 Seamaster.

  Based on the Skin Irony model – which means an extra-thin steel case – the overall look of the watch is quite solemn and mechanical, consisting mainly of silver and blue, along with a splash of red and the exposed quartz movement – all in all rather fitting for Q, and conceived with the help of Suttirat Anne Larlarb, the costume designer for No Time To Die.

  Several details are specific to the character, most obviously “Q” for the six o’clock marker. And the coil around the stepper motor at 10 o’clock is also coated blue, instead of its usual natural-copper colour. In the original edition, the coil was copper and the hands were red.

  John Brown Sr and John Brown Jr spoke with HotCars about a new Land Rover Series III build currently live at Sotheby's Bond on Bond Street auction.
  
  The latest James Bond film No Time to Die debuts next month in American theaters, marking Daniel Craig's fifth outing as the iconic British spy navigating a maelstrom of massive explosions, inexplicable plot points, gorgeously expendable female costars, and, of course, amazing automobiles. After the surprising BMW hiatus during part of Pierce Brosnan's run as Bond, Craig's turn sticks more solidly to the original Aston Martin aesthetic, with a bit of Jaguar thrown in for good measure—though in this latest installment directed by True Detective and Jane Eyre auteur Cary Joji Fukunaga, at least a couple of Land Rovers also make an appearance (as revealed in various trailers and spy shots from the set).

  To celebrate the new film, as well as the newly revived Defender 90 and 110, Land Rover just unveiled a limited run of 300 Bond Edition Defenders complete with a supercharged V8, blacked-out exterior, and plenty of exclusive badging. But spy shots circulating the web also showed Craig behind the wheel of a classic Series III while filming No Time to Die, which led the UK-based firm John Brown 4x4 to build a vintage Bond Edition truck, one of which currently features as a headliner of Sotheby's Life is Beautiful: London auction. Curious to learn more about the build in advance of the film's September 28 UK debut, I spoke with both John Brown Sr and John Brown Jr about developing a classic Landie worthy of James Bond himself.

  Brown Sr founded his eponymously named company back in 2004, after a Land Rover-obsessed friend critiqued his current car, the diminutive Freelander SUV.
  
  "He just looked at it and shook his head and said, 'That’s not a Land Rover,'" Brown Sr laughed. "He showed me a picture of a Land Rover Lightweight, and I looked at it and thought, 'Yeah, that’s nice, I’d like one of those.'"

  Eventually, Brown Sr found a Series III for sale locally, then set about fixing and refurbishing it to his exacting standards. The company came about after a man working on his house offered to buy the truck for twice the money he'd spent bringing it back to life.
  
  "My wife said, 'What are you doing, you love that car!' Brown Sr recalled. "And I said, 'No, I’m gonna get two and I’ll do one up and keep it, and I’ll do another one to sell.' And that just went from two to three to four to five to a dozen, and over time, it happened in quite an organic way. Here we are now, probably the largest dealers in the country."
  
  A decade and a half after ignoring his wife's advice and founding John Brown 4x4, Brown Sr clearly learned his lesson—so when she spotted a classic Land Rover among the many trailers advertising the delayed release of No Time to Die, he got to work (albeit hesitantly, at first).
  
  "My wife’s into films, she spotted that there’s a Bond film," he revealed, "And she said, 'Did you know there’s a Series III that does a road chase, why don’t we do one and it can be a Bond edition?' And I said, 'No, I think that’s a bad idea. I don’t like the flared arches, really, I’m a bit of a purist, I’m not sure this is going to work.' Anyway, it proved to be popular and we’ve been busy doing Bond builds for quite some time now. Because the film was delayed, it gave us some time."

  At this point in our conversation, John Brown Jr, who personally oversaw the project, jumped in to clarify just how much detail John Brown 4x4 gleaned from spy shots to ensure their trucks look just like the one in the movie—which, to be very clear, nobody at the firm has yet seen.

  "The Land Rover, we believe, is used in a chase scene in Jamaica," Brown Jr explained. "Not only was the Land Rover in the background, but there’s also photos of Daniel Craig driving it with the Russian Army in front and with an entire camera rig on the side of it for the tracking shots. So that’s kind of where it came to our attention."
  
  A series of trucks built up by John Brown 4x4 to mimic the movie cars captured the attention of Sotheby's, fitting nicely into the auction house's Bond on Bond Street lineup of James Bond-inspired goods like movie posters, watches, books, memorabilia, and more. But with only two weeks until the auction began, the time crunch required a little bit of fortuity for the Browns to pull through.

  "We had a vehicle that had already been rebuilt onto a galvanized chassis quite recently," Brown Sr revealed. "But just needed cosmetic refurbishment throughout. And then it needed to be compared to the movie car and replicated."
  
  "When this came in, obviously, we were very aware that it was going to Sotheby’s," Brown Jr added, "And they didn’t give us a huge amount of lead time. But we also wanted it to be as good a product as possible in the short space of time... However, we really spoiled it when we did the build."
  
  Given the time crunch, I asked how much mechanical work other than the galvanized chassis the Land Rover received at the hands of John Brown 4x4.
  
  "Obviously, these things get rebuilt," Brown Sr replied, "And they can be a little like Trigger’s Broom sometimes. But we acquired the vehicle pretty much in the mechanical state it’s in now. And it goes through all our various tests, compression, road tests, check the gearbox is okay because they’re always an Achilles Heel for this series. It had a load of work to ancillaries."
  
  Those checks revealed a transmission that Brown Jr described as "just a little bit grumbly in third gear," so a new one entered the frame.
  
  "We put a reconditioned gearbox in it," Brown Jr said, "We put brand-new shock absorbers on it, it has brand-new springs fitted to it. We gave it things like a new alternator and a new water pump. It has things like a new overdrive for an additional gear."
  
  Other additions included a brand-new carburetor atop the 2.25-liter inline-four (gasoline, not diesel, to be clear), plus replacement of the distributor and radiator with new units. Compared to the V8 swaps and immensely customized builds coming out of both the UK and the US, this one remains somewhat low-key in the power department.
  
  "They only are officially rated at 54 horsepower," Brown Jr admitted, "But the cars themselves are not particularly heavy. That means that they feel more sprightly than those figures would suggest."
  
  "Those petrol engines are largely unburstable," Brown Sr jumped in. "It’s extremely rare to find a total failure engine. You sometimes find a head gasket’s blown or amateurs fit the wrong head gaskets or they fit it upside down or something like that, we get quite a lot of that. But those engines, particularly the block, they’re just over-machined and tend to last indefinitely."
  
  On the interior, the Browns made a few changes to both modernize and bring the Rover more in line with what the spy shots showed Craig driving in Jamaica. The non-original wood steering wheel above and deluxe front seats look similar enough to the grainy images, while adding a bit more creature comfort thanks to more substantial bolsters.
  
  Out back, Brown Jr continued, "We’ve added additional rear benches and made all those seats belted, including a seatbelt bar so you can over-the-shoulder, modern safety belts. So you’ve got seven seats in there, all with seat belts attached."

  The exterior of this 1982 short-wheelbase also received fender flares, a number plate, a spare wheel on the hood, color-coded trim, and 16-inch wheels shod in new tires. In classic Land Rover style, the windshield can tilt down and the ragtop removed, helping to maintain a bit of the funky allure that made these classic trucks a staple worldwide.
  
  “This is like the next room after a complete nut-and-bolt," he said, "But a complete nut-and-bolt is significantly more expensive."
  
  "There’s actually no reserve price," Brown Jr said, almost proudly. "The guide is actually lower than the market value of the car and that was done intentionally to attract more bidders, buyers, and prospective customers. It’s been live for just under a day and as of this moment in time, we’re at £12,000."
  
  Bidding currently sits at £16,000 with three days remaining and Sotheby's site provides a final gavel estimate of £20-25,000. I asked what happens if an American Bond fan decides to get in on the action.
  
  "We do a lot of exports to America," Brown Sr responded, "We’re quite aware of all the limitations and restrictions. Where a lot of people maybe worry that they’re going to import a vehicle that’s not going to pass legislation, that’s going to be crushed, you hear this kind of horror story, 'I bought a Land Rover that got crushed,' that’s never happened with us because we know the rules."
  
  "We have a 100% export success rate," Brown Jr added, "We do send a lot out to the States. It’s not just these Bond Editions that we do, we do a lot of to-order refurbishment work and we also do rebuilding."
  
  The auction closes on Friday, September 9, and both the Browns plan to watch No Time to Die when it finally hits theaters later this month after such an extended pandemic-related delay. But I had to ask what else fits into the future for John Brown 4x4 when the hype for James Bond starts fading—until the eternal arguments about who should play the next Bond begin bubbling anew, that is.

  "As you know, the new revolution is electric," Brown Sr replied, "And so we are in the process of..."
  
  "We’re not going to reveal too many details!" Brown Jr cut him off, "But we do have an electric prototype coming very soon. And we’ve already kind of engineered that..."
  
  "That’s one of our branches for the future," Brown Sr clarified. "We’re still going to stick with the two-and-a-quarter petrol, but there are people who want electric for low-electric zones or if you want to save the world and be an eco-warrior, that’s very admirable. There are other people who are in this market but we hope to dominate the market because our vehicles are going to be more attractive to the general public."

  No Time To Die, to be released globally from September 2021, features four iconic Aston Martin models from past, present and future. James Bond’s highly-anticipated return to cinema marks the first time four different models have appeared in a 007 film: the DB5, the classic Aston Martin V8, the brand’s super GT – DBS and the exceptional Aston Martin Valhalla – the forthcoming mid-engined hypercar.
  
  To celebrate the return of 007’s iconic Aston Martin DB5 to the big screen, Aston Martin and Corgi also unveiled a full-size replica of the original 1965 Corgi DB5 model. Located at The Coaling Jetty, outside Battersea Power Station, the life size model which measures 5.66 metres long, 2.7 metres tall and 2.7 metres deep, replicates the original Corgi design and houses an Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation car. The DB5 is complete with a broad selection of working gadgets that fans will recognise from the classic James Bond film: rotating number plates, a retractable bullet proof rear shield, extending front over-riders and of course pop out machine guns.
  
  Just 25 DB5 Goldfinger Continuation cars are being produced, more than 55 years after the last new DB5 rolled off the line at Aston Martin’s then global manufacturing base in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. All new cars are authentic reproductions of the DB5 seen on screen, available in one exterior colour specification – Silver Birch (just like the original) – with only some sympathetic modifications and enhancements to ensure the highest levels of quality and reliability.
  
  Corgi is the original home of diecast scale modelling. What were once simply toys are now highly sought after in the expanding collectables market and the most famous Corgi release of all time is indisputably James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, first released in 1965. Replicating the action features of the vehicle seen on-screen in Goldfinger, it was an instant success earning the UK ‘Toy of the Year’ and ‘Best Boys Toy’ titles at the National Association of Toy Retailers Awards in the same year. Priced originally at around 10/- (50p), the model has proven so popular over the years it has had to be retooled numerous times, allowing it to sell over 20 million units worldwide. It is still being produced to this day.
  
  The grand unveil was carried out by Marek Reichman, EVP & Chief Creative Officer, Aston Martin Lagonda.   The long, long wait to watch No Time To Die is very nearly up, and Aston Martin’s latest James Bond collaboration has us very excited indeed.

  It’s The Little Car Company No Time To Die special edition of the Aston Martin DB5 Junior. Big name, small car.
  
  It’s a two-thirds scale version of the iconic DB5 that’ll make its return in the 25th Bond film, complete with all of the brilliant Q branch gadgets including fake gatling guns behind the flip down headlights, an oil dispenser to unstick pursuing bad guys, a changeable numberplate and a smoke screen that can be deployed for a whole hour before it needs topping up. Brilliant.
  
  The No Time To Die edition also gets more power and range compared to TLCC’s standard DB5 Junior. Yep, it’s fully electric, and it’ll manage around 80 miles on a single charge. Not far off a Honda e, that.

  I'm suspicious they've never shown a photo showing the actual seats in the thing. I wonder if it's because, despite it being able to fit an adult and a child, there's probably no way for an adult to actually drive the thing really, and they don't necessarily want the adults to know that. ;)
  
  It also brings me pain to learn that an Aston Martin DB5 would have only set you back 4,000GBP when it came out.
  
  That's actually a super informative article. Didn't know they were exclusively being offered to actual DB5 owners at first, and that it has a top speed of 42mph; that seems crazy for what it is.

  True there's limited evidence of adult driving in the YouTube videos.

  Went to one of the cinemans of the German subdivision of Vue for my second watch of No Time To Die and they had a "James Bond menu" at the concession stands which included a Coca Cola/"Keine Zeit zu sterben" popcorn bucket and hard plastic cup as well as a set of James Bond playing cards
  
  
  which was a nice little surprise. The cards have film posters from all over the world as the motives on the cards. They aren't very high quality, so more of a little memorabilia than anything else...
  I ditched the popcorn bucket, but kept the cup for now, even though it is just you standard coke zero cup with the film's logo on it...
