What confused me though is how people rave about this while at the same time criticising the Craig era/SP. Obviously the stuntwork is on another level but fancy cinematography, drama around the main character's past coming back to haunt him, going rogue/up against his own government, conflict between M/Alec Baldwin and other government types, building it up as what all the other movies have been leading up to, the idea of "choosing not to" and the job weighing on him, sound familiar? That trailer felt a lot like the Craig era imo.
The thing that worries me with Bond these days, is the personal angles, and the "darkness" of it, in lack of better ways to put it. You see Mission Impossible touch upon certain aspects of the same things, yet keeping it lighthearted enough, and more fun. I think the balance is better in the last few MI films, than the Bond films.
Building an obvious homage to the cable watch Bond used to escape in MR .... Just
So many. :-D
There's a hall of mirrors , an homage to the hall in the DNA clinic in DAD which
Itself was an homage to the hall of mirrors in TMWTGG .
So many wheels within wheels. ;-)
MI keeps giving great action movies, while Bourne has .... Burnt out.
Itself was an homage to the hall of mirrors in TMWTGG .//
People have been doing hall of mirrors since at least Orson Welles directed The Lady From Shanghai in the 1940s. Blake Edwards did it in Gunn in 1967.
Good to see it still.
But in this case it's a definite DAD reference.
We're having a little fun pointing out homages from espionage films in other
Spy movies. Not the history of film making :-D
On reshoots with Cavill as Superman !
" This could have been me as Bond ". :-D
I can't get over just how vicious those punches he is throwing look. I feel bad for whatever sad sap is in the middle of it all in that scene.
Mentioning actors who could be 007, I think the next guy. Will not be
Well know, as Daniel was not too well known when he got the gig.
It was McQuarrie who brought him back to A lister status by writing the superb Valkyrie in 2008.
