    Wasn't much of a fan of Jack Reacher but that was more down to me thinking Cruise was completely wrong for the part, nothing to do with the direction, so I'm excited for this. The action scenes in that film were really well done.

    To be fair it's not like Bond doesn't follow trends (LALD, TMWTGG, MR, LTK, QOS), so can we really have a go at the film for using London as a location? If anything we should be happy that they're using Bond as inspiration (if that's where they got the idea), and as someone who was born in London (Hackney) and lived there for ages, I think it's nice to see so many big films using it as a location.

    Didn't really see a sequel to 'Olympus Has Fallen' being made, let alone having it set in London.

    I liked it, and even though it was released in the same year as 'White House Down,' they both have their differences: while 'Olympus Has Fallen' is grittier and more realistic, 'White House Down' has some more comedy and bigger action sequences.

    @Risico007, just saw that, it's a lot earlier than I thought. Will it really take that much time if they go for a December 2014 release date, or might they release it earlier than that? Either way, it's a lot closer than I thought, and I'm excited.

    The plan was for a September start this year so this is only a few months later.

    December 2014 will be too early but December 2015 could be ideal and is far less crowded. Would Paramount hold the film for this long?

    That would also mean Bond 24 vs Mission: Impossible V discussions here and elsewhere. Oh, joy.

    I highly doubt that filming will start in February of next year and that they'll hold it until December of 2015.

    If they start filming in February, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to come out in November or December of 2014. The latter month has 'The Hobbit: There And Back Again' set for the 17th, but other than that, no massive competition just yet.

    If that were the case you would have thought the date would have been chosen by now. It would be a tight squeeze with everything else coming out around that time.

    @Samuel001, that's true, actually surprised they've yet to set a date with filming only four months away. December 2015 could always happen, I would just be really shocked if they held onto it for that long.

    I really hope Simon Pegg comes back. It'd be nice if Ving Rhames returned too. Not fussed about Renner or the girl from the last one.

    Simon Pegg will be back. He's said as much, not sure about anyone else.

    I'm sure once again, just like since the third film, there will be bogus rumours about one of the cast taking over from Cruise in the next film.

    I love Simon in general, and think his upgrade in MI4 from #3 with more stuff to do was deserved and extremely entertaining, so I hope he returns. I am also hoping Ving is back, since you can't have an MI film without Luther (and not in a cameo either!).

    I would love to see both Simon and Ving in the film, perhaps Simon is the in-field comedic relief and Ving is the out-of-field comedic relief, then have them all fighting the enemy in the final fight or something.

    Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton won't be back or at least I hope they are not in order to keep things fresh.

    I would be fine with Renner not returning, but I thought Patton was fine in the film. Cruise, Patton, Pegg, and Rhames would work just fine for me. I wish Holloway returned, such a shame they cut him off so quick in the fourth film. I would've preferred him taking the place of Renner's character.

    A stronger villain is needed too. The only real weakness of the last film in my opinion.

    Do you think Cruise will keep making these until he's past 60? It would be in trend with action films today!

    @Samuel001, couldn't agree more. The weakest portion of the fourth film is most certainly the villain/henchmen, or lack thereof.

    I wouldn't see why not. He'll turn 52 when he's shooting this movie next year, and he's still in fantastic shape and looks the part. Even when age starts to show, he could be the next Liam Neeson. He's got it in him.

    I agree: we need a better villain. Too many films today can't give their villains time to grow onscreen, and make them second chair to the hero and all the action in the films until you barely see anything of them. Big blockbusters need to take notes from The Dark Knight and give us a villain that is just as crucial to the film as the hero. Granted, lightning rarely ever strikes so powerfully like that, but I can dream.

    Well said. Even though most people hate it - and I find it to be my favorite - look at how 'M:I-2' set up the main villain and henchmen: perfectly. We got time to know them, there were scenes fully dedicated to their lives and planning of the grand scheme, and it all worked wonderfully. Even the smaller henchmen, at least they had some good screen time so I could make an easy mental checklist of who was still alive for Hunt to kill.

    That's what I crave in a good action film like this. 'Die Hard' did it wonderfully by setting up all of the henchmen with the fantastic Hans Gruber, and they all had their own personalities and relations. What a perfect movie.

    I love MI2 as well, so don't worry about being alone on that. Great action (with the necessary doves thrown in), great villain for Hunt to face off with, great leading lady, great soundtrack, great sidekicks, etc. It isn't the most grounded MI film out there, but it is a great romp with infinite rewatchability.

    Absolutely, and it contains my favorite kill in the series and quite possibly one of my favorite kills ever in a film, albeit unrealistic.

    In the finale once Ethan has stolen Chimera/Belerophone and is escaping on the motorcycle. Once he hits the road and that car is approaching, he stoppies in front of it, spins in slow motion as the car is pumping its brakes and subsequently turning, and lets loose with his pistol, nailing the tire to cause it to flip, and then nailing the gas tank to cause it to explode and fly over the hill.

    So amazing.
