This kind of stuff makes my brain explode. I just don't have the words for how crazy our advancement has been in just the last twenty years, effects wise.

On this day in history, 20 years ago, Spider-Man 2 was released. One of the best superhero and sequels ever made. Epic, and heartfelt, it is truly a great experience.

Such great perfection in one scene alone. Thank you to everyone who worked on this. A true inspiration for me.

I love the extended edition, the 95% of the lead up to and train sequence is still one of the greatest set pieces in the genre.

I was never keen on Spiderman removing his mask at the end of the scene, Toby has a pain face to rival PB.

I have Sam Raimi trilogy on 4K as well as other formats, all three films still look great. In Spiderman 3 tthe face off between Peter and Harry at the start of the film just continues to get better, I often just randomly watch that scene.

I gotta say, i often find myself listening to the Raimi Trilogy score by Elfman because it's just so good, i can't get enough of it.
    Also, Happy 20th anniversary, Spider-Man 2!

I agree they are great scores, surprisingly I do not own any of them and I have quite a few other Elfman film scores.

    Yeah.
I love all three Raimi Spider-Man's equally. 2 is objectively the best, clearly, but they are all so filled with sincere emotion...

True about sincere emotion. However, Mary-Jane is still evil. It was always about her and who she could get in her pants. A great example of how NOT to write a love interest.

Spiderman (2002) - That was the first DVD I bought, when it first came out. Had the red case and I remember it didn't play smoothly. It kind of jumped and there was a bit of a protruding rim around the edge of the disc, like it hadn't been pressed properly. I bought a silver DVD player in the same purchase. Maybe a Teac or Toshiba. It was the one time I bought some new tech as it was released, and not behind the times!

Relax, she was just written with flaws. And she thought about herself before anyone else, more often than not. She was beyond sympathetic in Spider-Man 3. I don’t see why Peter (or Harry) thought realistically why she was the one for them. As I said, it came down with the writing.

Also, I’m willing to bet that Superman 2 would have been what Spider-Man 2 is now, had Richard Donner and his company fully completed it.

Well Raimi is known to like Superman so it's safe to say he was probably inspired by the Donner movies.

He openly admitted that Spider-Man 2 was influenced by Superman 2 quite a bit. That’s ok I like both, fairly equally.

Hm... that makes me wonder what a Superman film directed by him would look like.

He’d probably be slightly more original than Bryan Singer or Zack Snyder, lol. And not as controversial, with the characters. I know he was considered to direct Batman 89 and Batman Forever, but was turned down due to not being a big enough name. I give him credit, he made Dr Strange 2 more of a Raimi movie than a MCU movie, arguably. I also don’t blame him for how Spider-Man 3 turned out. Studio executives ruined that one.

Sorry, I just saw MJ as damaged goods, and in real life beautiful women have flaws. Many have faced hard lives at home, or abuse from boyfriends... I guess I cut Raimi's MJ a lot of slack, even for her idiocy in SM2.
