    I hope we can trust Mendes more than Forster.... He said the same thing about Fields in QOS... the end results IMO was a forgettable and useless Bond girl with 2 minutes of screentime.

    mind you, i am making a distinct difference between Bond girls who are leading ladies.. and Bond girls who are either sacrficial lambs, or bit roles... Fields was obviously the latter, and i find her role no more useless than

    Plenty O'Toole

    so, in a way - her character was a throwback to the ones listed above

    but it's part of a Craig Bond movie - and i guess nothing good or right every comes out of those does it ;-) lol

    Everyone remembers O'Toole, and the Masterson's, and Trench. All the girls you listed are very memorable, iconic, sexy, glamorous... With Fields looking like a skinny teenager girl with close to no meat on the bones... I felt like watching Bond turned into a male cougar and hunting girls barely out of their teenages years... Atleast Sir Rog had much more class when he had Bond girls half his age.

    i didn't say anything about iconic status... and if it wasn't for Plenty's name - she'd be Plenty forgettable.. it's just her name is a great joke.... Strawberry Fields could've been one as well, yet they never played off of it....

    all i was saying, is that her character is no different than those.... "iconic" or not - none of them were any special... the only one that is truly iconic to me out those is Jill Masterson because of her death.... Plenty a close 2nd because of her name... other than that, all interchangeable pawns for Bond to possibly fornicate with and dispose of as easily as possible... and Fields fits that mold.. whether you agree with it or not - doesn't mean she has to be special or memorable.

    Pain fact was, that QOS Bond was given no chance to impress an audience with his ability to do whatewver is Bond supposed to do in bed - so here, I see it as double shame, this Bond couldn't be watched teaching her some and else...I know, I am not alone...

    LOL, anything to keep the debate going,. I doubt, this Jill M would turn more then a head or two these days...its all a matter of "what the hell is turning those heads in the year, those films are done?". What is the problem with that? Just bashing éverything doesn't make anybody more believable. He ends up like sounding like a nerd, really...

    Me too, although to be fair, I think she could have been sexier, much sexier. Instead we got to see Dan without his shirt and Fields with a full trench, why not both of them topless? It´s like in CR, Dan with the bathing suit and Green with a white...something...that covered all of her body. I mean, what´s up with that?

    Have to say, it does sound really exciting to hear MGW say this. I mean, of course they can say that it's going to be very Bondian (as they did with CR), to say that it's going to have a magical 60's feel to it is quite a claim.

    Personally, I reckoned this would be the case when some of the first details started to emerge about Bond 23. When the case/title/premise was released, I DEFINITELY had a good feeling.

    Don't believe a word they're saying, it sounds like how old DC looks ( in his 60s) with that chuffing beard. I wonder if the collar matches the cuffs.

    As I've mentioned in other threads, the camera work and editing alone can give the film that 60's vibe. We've seen this already in CR for example: Fade transitions (all throughout the poker game- most notably after Vesper samples Bond's experimental drink), and gritty-looking footage (close-up shots of Bond strangling Obanno during the end of the stairwell fight scene). Even extended shots of one camera angle can be effective, as opposed to the ever-annoying quick-cut editing. Adding more contrast to the lighting can be done post production. I hope to see some of these techniques used in Skyfall.

    the "classy" old school feeling shot i always pick out in CR, is when Bond is walking through the casino for the first time - that nice tracking shot... and the one camera shot of him entering the poker room, meeting Le Chiffre and moving on... it's not just in the camera work, but the use of lighting and color as well... it really gave it a classy look.

    ^ This is exactly what I mean by extended shots (I don't know all the official terms, yet). Especially when we see Bond walking from one side of the room to the other (like Connery in FRWL- throwing his gun on the bed and checking for bugs in his hotel room). Also, the type of music, or even the total absence of music during conversations can add to the vibe.

    I Think having the amazing mr. Dennis Gassner back will help. The sets (Mainly the stage and Hotel) where the some of the best things in the films.

    I do think QOS had a 60s vibe to it but only design wise of course, and the Tom Ford suits and dinner jacket. Let´s hope they don´t mean just that. It would be great to see the gimmicks QBranch mentioned back for SF.
