I may have to sit this out when we get to the Craig films, lest I lose restraint and post 200 different shots for each film. Genuinely like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. Utter depravity.

EDIT - I've edited the post as the cat one was a little harsh. @GoldenGun I too have a cat and love her dearly. The poor cat in YOLT, looked like it went through hell. There are several scenes where you can see it's distressed.

Sorry, didn’t realise that, I’ll narrow it down to these three then :)

Just the hair. That's Mei Lei from Goldfinger and she appears again in Tanaka's bathroom.

@QBranch, I didn't know that. I love when past Bond women get used in a PTS. My favorite probably being how Margaret Nolan was used in the GF PTS.

First: thanks for creating this thread @MI6HQ, for no other reason that it provides me with an additional incentive to have a Bond Marathon (or at-least a mini one) prior to October 5th.

Potentially controversial opinion: in looking at the many images from YOLT (and knowing what’s to come with Michael Reed/OHMSS), these films really do mark the end of a certain kind of “high end” esthetic – or at-least a long pause. As much as I enjoy DAF, LALD and TMWTGG, they don’t look as opulent IMO.

@Dwayne, there are definitely points in the series where the visuals were severely neglected, and the movies took on a sort of TV movie kind of look and feel. Which is a shame, because Bond should always be a spectacle, and be a treat for the eyes. Nice to see the series really laying into that aspect with the Craig films, to wonderful effect. When you get Roger Deakins of all people to want to shoot a Bond film, you've really made something magical happen.

Not controversial at all! That stretch from TB > YOLT > OHMSS represents an artistic peak in terms of cinematography and musical score (at least). The series wouldn’t have that high end aesthetic again until the Craig years. (Ok, Moonraker is beautiful too)

Guy Hamilton's direction probably plays into that, as the latter 2 went back to a smaller 1:85 screen ratio. DAF and LALD really didn't feature locations with much potential for attractive visuals - Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Harlem, the bayou, etc. TMWTGG is the best of the three as far as that goes.

The cinematography of OHMSS and especially YOLT is great. But TB? It doesn't stand out in that department for me.

I'm not sure what to pick for YOLT. While the camera "flight" over the Kobe docks is awesome in motion, it doesn't look special as a single shot.

I agree, that’s also one of my main issues with DAF and especially LALD, the locations don’t really appeal to me.

@goldenswissroyale, TB has always felt epic to me. It seems not to do it for most, but that climax with all the divers parachuting in to help Bond fight off Largo and his men is just incredible, and it gets my blood pumping every time. That was really the first truly epic Bond set piece, in my opinion, where Bond was so up against it he needed some more help than just himself and the Bond girl.

The whole premise of the film, with all hands on deck, and getting to see how dire things are with all the 00s brought in, is truly something and it raised the stakes higher than they've ever been to that point. I mean, we went from missile toppling, decoding machines and dirty bombs to full on nukes. Wild.

I’m goin with #2. Perfect composition with a production design that screams 60s modernism (with a Japanese twist).

@MI6HQ shots 32/33 are stills not screencaps from the film.

Yes, I know I just don't want to offend anyone, so I've included it too.
There's no possibility of it winning though 😉
