With a little checking (no, I did not use Google Lens, but I did take a closer look at the stern of the light vessel and then searched for it the conventional way), it is apparently Lightvessel LV 93 presently moored at Royal Victoria Dock, London.

I just don't suppose I know in which novel the ship (or Royal Victoria Dock) turns up since I don't know any of the spin-off novels.

Interesting, I thought you might've gone for the writing on the building, Millennium Mills in Silvertown. It's been used as a filming location in Ashes to Ashes, the Alex Rider series and Paddington 2 to name a few.

In Double or Die, the solution to one of the cryptic clues James is searching for is Brunner Mond, a TNT factory that was the site of deadly explosion in 1917 which took out the old Millennium Mills factory and the one pictured would've been brand new when the book is set in 1933. Silvertown and the Royal Docks is where the climax of the book takes place.

    Back to you, JW.

I'm not sure I deserve this but I'll try to take care of it sometime on Friday.

OK, here is what I would normally call an easy one, but based on this thread you never know:

    A movie location.

die another day, it's where zao takes the helicopter. let's see if I can figure out where they filmed it, but my first thought goes to Cadiz Spain, standing in for everything Cuba.

I must admit I don't remember where Zao took a helicopter, but the general direction is quite promising. I'm just waiting to hear what this sprawling building represents.

that would be the DNA clinic then.

Yes, ok...in fact it doubles for the entire "Isla de los Organos"...except for the scene where Halle does the CGI jump, that's yet another fortress from Cadiz. The picture shows the Castillo de Santa Catalina, Calle Campo de las Balas, Cádiz, Spain, which is only seen from the seaside in the movie to convey the idea that it is an island.

Good job, @CommanderRoss, but I'm afraid you'll have to provide the next one.

I was afraid you'd say that. Now here's another interesting take on the game.
The picture is of a Bond-film location, albeit quite a few years before the film was made.

    Shouldn't be too difficult.

Now that's a novel approach. And I'm getting progressively wary of announcements that it shouldn't be too difficult. But I'll give it a try soon.

Addition: Your bridge, or rather the buildings in the background, look rather Dutch. How about this one?

Well-known to all Bond fans from DAF, as the place where poor Mrs Whistler was dragged out of the gracht before being able to send home all her photos to the children in her class.

Well, there you go @j_w_pepper . It is the 'skinny bridge' . Our tourguide however had the story wrong. The sisters from the story didn't run out of money, but their name was 'mager', (skinny), hence the name. Well done and over to you.

Thank you, @CommanderRoss. I had read up on the bridge a little before posting, and it seems that the surname theory is one of several.

en.wikipedia.com writes: "Recent research of city archives revealed the name has its origin in the fact that originally a broad and monumental stone bridge was planned during Amsterdam's prosperous Golden Age, but the 1672 economic setback forced the city council to drastically scale back the plans, and build a basic and simple structure instead."

And the Dutch version: "De overkant van de Amstel (Nieuwe Herengracht, Nieuwe Keizersgracht, Nieuwe Prinsengracht) bleef lange tijd vrijwel onbebouwd. Een brug was daardoor overbodig geworden. Toen er later, eind 17e eeuw, toch enige bebouwing ontstond, werd besloten om alsnog een brug aan te leggen, maar veel goedkoper (van hout in plaats van steen) en smaller (magerder). Hieruit is de naam "Magere Brug" voortgekomen." Both quotes have a footnote citing "De Grote Uitleg van Amsterdam, J. E. Abrahamse, uitgeverij Thoth 2e druk 2011. ISBN 978-90-6868-491-9".

But be that as it may, I'll try a Google Earth shot since there are no really good Street View images from this place. It's a movie location. The open space about in the center has a special function in that film.

Well, those look like rock formations, so my guess would be the eternal flames of 'the devil's breath' at the Absheron Peninsula in Azerbaijan. In TWINE.

Good call on TWINE. I'll say it's Cuenca, with the pipeline protest.

It sure is from TWINE, but not the Absheron Peninsula (that's the one with the oil fields, and the exteriors were even filmed there). It is indeed in the Cuenca region, specifically Los Callejones de Las Masadas about 25 km north of the town of Cuenca. And it looked like this:

    I'm handing this over to @QBranch .

Thank you @j_w_pepper It's an interesting site that could be explored more. The chapel was not part of the area and was built by the screw.

Alright let's try something different. This one's from the comics. Reading them isn't necessary to figuring it out. The clues are there.

Well, it is the Théatre de Paris, 28 rue Blanche, 75009 Paris. But I really don't have any clue regarding the connection to James Bond, not having read any of the comics.

@QBranch - any confirmation so we can proceed?

PS: I apoligise if yours is not really the time zone to reply immediately...

Yep, I am about 8 hours ahead.

I was hoping someone would give a complete answer including name of the comic, which is simple to figure out by googling 'Paris Bond Dynamite comic'. At least a helluva lot easier than sifting through thousands of screenshots.

It is the Théâtre de Paris from Solstice - Bond tails the antagonist there where it's a showing of The Nutcracker. A snowy Christmas night in Paris. Great vibes.

Why did James Bond cross the street?

To get to the other side, of course.

Right. What scene? (What happened before? Or maybe afterwards? Or do you even know the name of the street?)

It is right after the action in Carver's newspaper factory. I don't know the street.

Right. After the rumble in the printing plant (which couldn't be anywhere near there), Bond emerges from behind a newsstand...
    newsstandizc6f.jpg
    ...and continues to cross Mönckebergstrasse...
    monckebergstrrlc61.jpg
...in order to get into his car (illegally parked, alongside St. Peter's Church, in a restricted zone not permitted for private cars):

Nice one @j_w_pepper ! A friend gave me a tour of the area recently, but today I was too late to join the game.

    St. Petersburg? Hermitage? GoldenEye?

Or more concrete, before Ourumov comes into the meeting with Defence Minister Mishkin?

Like I said: Hermitage (English, I guess)? Eremitage (German)? Am I in the right place?
