    Dalton.

In a ideal world, I would have liked Lazenby to follow-up OHMSS. That said, would he have grown as an actor by the time of DAF? Or would his inexperience become more glaring given a more "traditional" film? Rigg, Savalas, Ferzetti are exceptional in OHMSS.

With Dalton, I don't have those concerns.

Second Lazenby, especially since that would theoretically get rid of DAF while a third Dalton would get rid of GE, a least fav and a fav respectively. I still would have loved one extra Dalton film in theory, though. In a perfect world I’d replace DAF with George getting his revenge in a YOLT novel styled story with some changes, and then just replace DAD with third Dalton x)

I'll go with a proper follow up to OHMSS with Lazenby. However, it if would have ended up with Bond joining a hippie group while Blofeld is located, then a 3rd Dalton instead.

Dalton for sure, although I feel his Bond checked off pretty much every box with his two outings. Yes, I'm wondering if everything I expect from a Bond film was covered in Dalton's run. Maybe.

    Dalton. He was perfect.

I'd like a third one to lighten up just a bit, and give him a fun epic. If you've seen his Lark cigarettes ad, I think from Japan, that tone would have been great.

Spielberg directing, then at the peak of his blockbuster powers, would be even better.

I'll be in the minority here, despite wanting both, but I really would've loved seeing what Lazenby could've done with a follow-up.

I’m with you, I know some may not see it but he had a significant amount of innate charm; with the right direction he would have polished his acting skills enough to do well as Bond. I don’t see it as a role that requires a
Laurence Olivier level of acting. Lazenby’s physicality and charm would have made for an interesting post Connery era.

I’m spilt in the middle on this. I would narrowly go with a 3rd TD movie. Mainly because John Glen wouldn’t have been most likely directing. It was time for a director change. As for a 2nd GL movie, I would be happy as long as Peter Hunt was directing. He just generally understood Bond. Guy Hamilton should have done GF and maybe LALD.

Dalton for sure. But seeing Lazenby up till The Man With The Golden Gun would have been great. I always imagine Lazenby's Bond vs Jack Palance's Scaramanga without Nick Nack and all the jokes. I just feel like every other Bond, by Live And Let Die which would have been Lazenby's third, he would have been much more comfortable in the role.

    Can I pick both?
I would love to have seen Lazenby in a follow up to OHMSS, seeking revenge for Tracy. A DAF that would've been darker and more interesting than the one we got.
But also a third film from Dalton. I loved both TLD and LTK, Dalton was an amazing James Bond, and a terrific actor as well. So long as it wasn't too light, then a third Dalton film could've been really something special.
  • I would cheat and pick both too. Missed opportunities all around I think, but Lazenby’s kind of stings a bit more given Majesty’s ending, whereas we at least end up with Pierce in Goldeneye.

I was gonna say one of each as ideal. A second for one actor and a third for the other..

But playing the numbers it could doom Bond 7 to one mission.

With Lazenby, perhaps DAF would have been something other than the sloppy mess that film is. Ham supplied by Jimmy Dean and cheese by Charles Gray.

I'd love more Bond films with either of them. Tim is my favourite of the bunch so I have to pick a third Dalton by default, though please let me cheat and pick a sevond Laz as well, I for one really liked his Bond.

As much as OHMSS is one of my favorites, I think a third Dalton would have lead to many more Dalton adventures and redefined the series.

How about three one-off, older Bonds: one each from Lazenby, Dalton and then Brosnan. They each could die, each could survive, one or two die and the other not. Not for the films to have any continuity between them. The only continuity would be for each to operate in "their Bond's history." I know, a little tricky since Lazenby's Bond lived and worked in the same continuity as Connery, but we can't have an older Bond with Connery or Moore - all three shred the continuity - but we could have Lazenby. Dalton, realistically, is in his own continuity, as is Brosnan. They could be unique enough that complaints of repeating the same trick could be avoided. Could do it on streaming. And could alternate with streaming Young Bond productions and with theatrical productions of "current adult Bond." For that matter, also fold in a Bond-in-the-50s/60s set of films or streamers. Yeah. I am going crazy go nuts here, and I LIKE IT ! You wanna get crazy ? Let's get crazy ! Seriously, though, I'm totally into it. Did I mention the Moneypenny books ? Oh, yeah, those, too, and all the post-Fleming Bond books and short stories.

Just wait for AI. We'll get Connery (with Rigg and Savalas) in OHMSS before you know it.

As much as I like Dalton, I have to go with a Lazenby Diamonds Are Forever.

Recently I watched a story on Youtube where they presented what they said was a summary of a script that had been written in the event that George would be returning; it was tough and stylish. I really would have liked to have seen that made.

I wouldn't have minded a tough, gritty follow up to OHMSS, I just don't think Lazenby would have improved in the slightest.

He was quite nice with the softer scenes when Tracy was involved, but having him learn on the job in a second film, I fear, would have failed spectacularly.

Plus, Lazenby seemed to be more into this gig for the "birds" and money, which is fine, but he had no real charisma, nor intelligence, to bring along his lack of training as an actor...

My reading of the guy is that the flesh was just too weak. He chased after the girl of his dreams halfway across the world. You don't do that if you take everything that light-heartedly.
The guy just needed (a) Terence Young to guide him. H'd have been better in OHMSS, and a blast in a completely different DAF.

    So, 2nd Lazenby for me.

Okay time to ponder another scenario, and this one might be interesting.

Would you rather have one less Moore film adventure OR one more Brosnan?

Roger did an admirable job making Bond relevant again. Most don't rank AVTAK too highly, would you rather this film starred another actor?

Pierce did an admirable job reviving Bond after the legal battles. Most don't rank DAD very highly, would you prefer Pierce go out on a different film adventure?
  • One more Brosnan film for certain.
One more Brosnan, just hoping he’d leave on a significantly better note than DAD, preferably something like Moore’s FYEO - something more grounded and simple. That is assuming I can still keep Craig CR, of course, my favorite Bond film. If not, then I’m afraid I’ll have to say goodbye to AVTAK, even though I personally enjoy it a fair amount.

A more grounded, AVTAK , with Brosnan; that way I can keep Duran Duran’s song but get a 5th Brosnan film

A fifth Brosnan, I’d never give up a Moore Bond film.
And I think Pierce deserved another film to go out on.

I still want that 5th Brosnan film! He was very good in DAD, most comfortable in the role here, is the vibe I got. And effortless. We would've seen more of that in the 5th film, depending on the direction, I suppose. But, for that 5th film to come to fruition, wouldn't you have to erase Bourne Identity from history or shift it back a few years? Meaning- no 'gritty' realism for Brosnan film #5 like with CR or QOS, but likely a more grounded FYEO-type adventure in response to DAD's OTTness, and in line with Brosnan's range as an actor. Possibly more depth to the character, like he hoped for.

There has been some talk about the Brosnan films (particularly post-GE) being very action-packed and video-game like. Everything or Nothing was developed alongside DAD, and I'm wondering if, in some respects EON turned out more grounded than DAD. Maybe it's unfair to compare game and film in this way. The game had roughly another year of development, releasing in early 2004. I'm trying to determine if there's anything in that game (not forgetting the concept video for unmade Brosnan game 'Phoenix Rising' - I think, from 2004/5?) that hints to what might've come next for him. Personally I think his 5th film wouldn't have strayed too far from what we'd already seen from his era but with less sci-fi elements and more intelligent dialogue than the previous film.. Again, it all hinges on the producer's reaction to the Bourne style and if that film 'exists' in parallel to our own 5th Brosnan timeline.

Coming full circle to the topic, EON is considered by some to be Brosnan's '5th film', and the villain was the protege of Max Zorin. In the same way, perhaps a character or plot thread from a previous film (not specifically Brosnan era) could have made a return in film #5.

There's no way I would have wanted a fifth Brossa film. Four was excruciating enough!!!
