Yes I love that too- it's so wonderfully Craig's Bond: no hesitation, he just launches himself at him. And also it's a wonderfully old fashioned filmmaking trick: the Texan switch, as a camera move hides the join between Craig and his stunt double.
Another bit I loved as being perfect CraigBond: the way he almost contemptuously drops the bike as he dismounts it at the hotel. Supercool.
That's a good point: it's a brilliant bit of tension, something I think we don't get enough in Bond films. The CG there of the glass breaking is pretty perfect too. The effects in this film are top notch.
And also it marks the first of three glimpses we get in this film of Madeline's little bit of snot :))
Funny, that Post-Title Sequence is one of my favorite parts of the film.
I can see why. My problem is Obruchev. I have yet to learn to like that character. He's a bit too clowny for my taste, at least in that sequence.
I agree.
LICENCE TO KILL (1989)
featuring some stunt inspiration for Christopher Nolan.
It seems LTK's opening is a lot better-liked than I anticipated as it obtained one gold medal, two 5th places, and six more top 10's.
Further down the line, it does indeed appear that even its biggest detractors don't really hate it since LTK's lowest scores were three 18th spots.
So with that we have our first film that has all of its rankings inside the top 20, thus LTK is the lowest-rated entry with no bottom 5's.
LTK ticked-off at 107 points.
My favourie part is Bond urging Felix and his crew into the Chopper and the previous jump from it in front of the villains jeep!
Yes, the slow mo part sticks out a bit (strange joke I only recently learnt the backstory of) and like most of LTK it’s not an overly slick piece in terms of the filmmaking. But it does the job.
The PTS for LTK just works so well as its own little story with a beginning, middle and an end. It has humor, action, and a very imaginative stunt, and I love the happy ending and the way it transitions to the title sequence.
It introduces most of the main characters too, but it would work equally well as a standalone PTS: Felix and Della could have lived happily ever after, and it'd still be great.
I even like the slow-motion gag. Making the not-terribly-young men from the DEA look like tough guys as they approach a couple of unarmed weenies is pretty amusing. Whatever musical joke was planned, though, I'm glad was cut! I have no idea why anything about this bit bothers anyone...
According to @ColonelSun they were going to have the theme to 'Chariots of Fire' playing, which would have made it worse than if is!
Came in 5th for me, this one just sets the mood for the rest of the film perfectly. Lean, mean, straight-to-the-point and oh so 80's.
Glad it did so well with everyone else too.

Five of which are in my top 10.
Glad anyone else in here liked it, I wish I do.
But who knows, it's been a while since I've done that ranking and things might've changed.
I liked how cruel Sanchez was shown in this PTS, with him getting Lupe caught with other man in act and ordering his men to kill the guy, but what others that followed is something that I have issues with:
But the PTS was very much of its time, the slow motion running of the DEA agents, the action happening at Weddings, it's very much the style of generic 80's action filmmaking.
The stunts were greatly choreographed, but the moment that ruined it for me was how the wedding theme kept slipping into the scene, the men wearing wedding suits with flower pins getting into action for example, it just felt a bit corny to me.
To me, it would've been better had the wedding was still separate from the DEA's operation against Sanchez, it's like showing a Mini sequence of Felix Leiter spin off, with Felix Leiter and the DEA on a mission against Sanchez (without the wedding), then the wedding would play out after the PTS with Bond being present.
So when the tragedy surprised Bond, it would create mystery to the character, until there would be a build up for the rest of the film by having Bond uncover the truth about Sanchez, then make a revenge.
I actually think that's one of the better ideas, Leiters wedding being interrupted, and Dalts looks cool in his suit! In hindsight, I probably should have placed it higher, it does what it sets out to do very well! And hell, even Christopher Nolan likes it enough to pay homage to it!
It’s a neat way of streamlining everything. With a story like LTK you really need to set up a lot of things/characters quite quickly, and I think it’d have been a bit cumbersome establishing that Leiter is getting married after the PTS. It also gets Bond involved at this point and gives us an idea of how invested Leiter is in taking Sanchez down.
I get that it’s a bit ridiculous, the idea of Leiter nearly missing his wedding and going on a mini mission with Bond… but then again Bond films are inherently a bit ridiculous/always have that sense of heightened reality so it works even in a film like LTK.
It always takes me out of my enjoyment for a brief second.
I always enjoy the grand drama of the slo-mo running, then followed by the DEA guys having to do little delicate tippy tappy steps to get around the plane when they get there :D
Another random thing- that machine gun muzzle flash which seems to fly across the screen when the lads in the jeep are driving at Bond! (It's probably a spark flying from offscreen or something but it's always stuck out to me!)
Yeah; it's good, but it doesn't quite fully do it for me either. There's something slightly Bondy missing about it for me.
One thing I do completely love is the way the wedding march organ builds up to the big first notes of the LTK theme tune- I'm actually not sure any other Bond hits the opening notes of its theme tune better.
That musical transition is absolutely killer. Fair or not, the start of the titles factored in for me because of the crossover. Also love the gag of the bridesmaids carrying the parachutes.
