    Yeah. Honestly, as much as I love OHMSS (2nd favorite Bond film), the PTS is not even in my Top 10. It’s still very good, particularly the mysterious introduction of Lazenby Bond and the intense brawling on the beach. I just happen to prefer many others.

    I liked it, it's in my Top 10, #7 to be particular, I liked the mystery of it, but yes, not quite a Top 5 material (most of my top 5 were purely dominated by Brosnans 😅).

    Although personally, I'm not much of a fan of the Goldfinger PTS that much either (it's in my Top 15).

    I like the TND PTS. As with TWINE, it's my favorite part of the movie. Arnold's introduction as composer of the films couldn't have been better.

    I'm a fan of this PTS as well. Much like the rest of the first half of TND, Pierce is having a lot of fun and so am I.

    Yes, I agree. The back end disappoints for several reasons. It's a if EON lost their nerve and went for the safety of big explosions and loud havoc for the second half, when Carver was really an intellectual foe. His machinations (starting the war, framing Bond for killing Paris) simply disappear in the final act. He's just another deranged foe with a fancy weapon.

    Only one to go before we enter the top 5, which is, naturally, our number 6:

    CASINO ROYALE (2006)
    featuring Bond's first kills and some supposed theatrics.

    No top 5 for the Craig era in this game, since this is his highest entry here.

    No shortage of top 5's in terms of individual members though: it received three golds and one bronze medal. On top of those there were also one 4th and two 5th places.

    Three more participants ranked it in the lower half of the top 10. But there was also one member who ranked it 21st too, which means that it got edged out by a single point by our number 5.

    CR received a total of 121 points.

    I gave CR the number 1 spot. It's the best for me, the very best. It's fast, it's furious. The tone is set. The gun barrel such a great moment. Truly the best.

    #5 for me. Love the editing here. Anticipating the elevator floor number, waiting for it to hit '7' which it never does. It cuts away. Dryden pulls the gun - there's a nice cut there, and again when the photo frame flies off the desk. Better without the cricket? Yes, considerably.

    Despite giving it the #17 spot, I'm quite surprised this one hasn't finished in the top 5.
    While I appreciate the attempt at novelty with this one, it just doesn't feel very Bond to me, except for the gunbarrel shot transitioning into the wonderful title sequence.
    It's a cocktail comprised of a healthy dose of Jason Bourne, a dash of Harry Palmer and a hint of Harry Lime... I like each one individually but something seems off when meshed all together.

    Number nine for me. An interesting way of introducing the new Bond; part spy (breaking into Dryden’s office, knowing where he keeps his gun, then coldly assassinating him), part man of brute force/blunt instrument (the bathroom fight sequence), with a mini character arc (Bond felt the first kill, but had grown “considerably “ when he sent Dryden to the Afterlife).

    It’s a very different introduction to a new Bond than what we’ve seen before. Craig isn’t given a slow build up - no elaborate face reveal, no big stunt. Just a single line and there he is at the desk. But he really makes his mark. It helps that the PTS is edited in a very accomplished way - the quieter, tense conversation between Bond and Dryden contrasted with the fast paced, brutal fight scene. There’s even that great little insert of the photograph of Dryden’s family as Bond shoots him which is small but hammers home the reality that Bond has to kill people - bad people admittedly, but people nonetheless.

    It’s a lot more stylised than what we’re used to. I’m not entirely sold on black and white for Bond, but it gives it a very nice film noir quality so it works. I like the fact that it builds up to a gun barrel at the end. One of the best Bond PTS’s, and certainly one of the most unique introductions to a new James Bond.

    #5 for me as well. I love the black and white approach, it's a great way to establish a rookie 00 agent, and the flashbacks with Fisher are violently sublime (though I still wish we got more of the deleted opening because I love those shots of Bond pursuing him during the cricket match).

    It's good, except that I don't liked the black and white set up to it, for me, it looked more like a Batman/Gotham show than a Bond film, especially the opening, it felt like a serious comic book than a Bond film, I can almost imagine Batman appearing at the top of the building at the start in that Dryden scene.

    The Gunbarrel is amazing, I liked that, but I just don't liked the style.

    Excellent sequence, though there are quite a few that I like better. I understand its appeal, of course. It's definitely well-done.

    My #4. Its a superb opening. The confrontation with Dryden, excellent dialogue,bruising fight sequence, and fabulous burst into a belter of a theme song! Clever and well executed ( in more ways then 1! 😄(

    I ranked it 8th. The smart combination of the hard edged fight and the tense, ice-cold conversation works surprisingly well. Really well done. It is short and ends with a great line. Awesome introduction for a new Bond and a new, more serious approach.

    CR ranks 12th for me. It's still a bloody good pts, but when judging these, it's quite hard to know where to place them all. Especially after the top 8-10.

    I had this at 14. Some great bits for sure, but I find it a bit cheap-looking in a lot of places, can't say why exactly.

    edit: Just rewatched it. I guess it's all the corny angles for one thing, but somehow it looks off to me. I get the same feeling I get when frame-smoothing is turned on, that cheap video effect. Did the b/w idea come after they shot it?

    With all of the dutch angles and suchlike? I can see that.

    I think it's a great, powerful introduction to the new Bond and new style of film- you're really thrown headlong into it and shocked by the sudden brutality of it. Which leads into the opening title sequence which rather brilliantly celebrates this new Bond himself rather than lots of faceless gyrating ladies- in just a few minutes of screentime you're thinking 'wow, this new Bond is super tough and cool'; it's so effective.

    It's basically an update of that classic Bond scene with him sitting in the dark waiting for Dent, except it doesn't feel like they recycled the idea.

    Hi guys, regretfully I am experiencing some issues with my phone and I am unable to access my file with the results. I know the top 5 by heart, but revealing them so unceremoniously would take away the fun. Let’s hang on a few days while I try to recover them.

    In the meantime, why don’t you try and predict how the top 5 will turn out ;)

    But I somehow doubt it, looking at the way some of the voting has gone so far!!
    I'm judgng a pts in its entirety rather than a single moment ( the ski jump from TSWLM, the bungee jump from GE!)
