i've actually kicked around the idea of shooting some of the Bond short stories written by Ian Fleming.. like From A View To A Kill, or A Quantum Of Solace - as faithful (as i possibly can with no budget lol) adaptations... and posting them on youtube or wherever - and actually starting off with the traditional gunbarrel and everything..

it would be an interesting exercise lol.

I've thought about that too but if the one does make the movie and its half way decent, EON and the Flemming Estate will be all over you. (not in a good way probably)

there would be a difference in filming it for fun - and for profit.... mine is purely for fun.

Glad to have someone around my age- I'm 14- almost 15. Also want to do film making
"professionally". I am actually working on a short feature (about an hour long) horror film!! Good luck with your mini series! :D

    Aha, thank you!
    - Good luck to you too on your short horror feature! (The first thing i ever filmed, back in early 2006, was supposed to be a 'horror', and i highly enjoyed making it, even if when i look back at it now, i do find it embarrisingly bad! But atleast it was what got me into film making!)

And like many others on here have also done, i have also attempted my very own Bond films. Although mine never got round to really starting (Just the opening sequences, before the titles)

I'm not exactly new here...I had "00 Agent" status on the old forum before it was taken off the net...I just couldn't get into my account on here. I consider myself a bit of a filmmaker and it's what I'm currently studying in college. I'm working on a project right now actually, but there isn't much to show of it. I'll definitely keep you guys updated.

where do you go to school? And what's the project about

Baker College. It's about government cover ups and how some people blow things way out of proportion. Not exactly the most original idea but seeing as how I've thrown in a ton of social commentary, it's something I've never tackled before.

Premier Pro for editing, and after effects for color/compositing. Got them both for christmas!! :D

I could never get my head around After Effects...I use Sony Vegas Pro.
  • I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11; I actually find it pretty impressive, as most use the more advanced programs.

^ That's what I was using before, I really liked it. But now I've got premier pro and it's really good. But there isn't that much of a difference between the two anyway... :)

@jamesh101 - Liked! Sounds very interesting so far!

I am very proud to announce that my 'short-short' film, '13:03' has been greatly accepted among my friends and family, it is the first film i have shared with others, and i was hugely suprised at how much they actually liked it! I only have DVD copies of it at the moment, but i may eventually upload it to YouTube.

Ha ha, cheers, I will most likely upload it at some point, then post a link here, but I think i'd do that after I have a couple of more projects on the go. I am filming a short 10 minute film this weekend, I will most likely end uploading either one soon!

Theres a guy I follow on Youtube, named Ryan Connolly, whos started a pretty successful little film company.

He produces two-three weekly shows on DIY film-making, effects, foley, etc. etc. and is pretty good. He's creates these often humorous sketches through the episodes that are done very well and tomorrow he's releasing his teaser for his first 'official' short film, called 'TELL' assumingly about a date gone wrong or a very bad boyfriend.

But I'll post it once its up, it goes live 12:01am EST here in the US. I think I have the poster somewhere...

    Edit: here's the poster:
    <a href="http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n606/JWestbrook_/?action=view&current=TELL.jpg"; target="_blank"><img src="http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n606/JWestbrook_/TELL.jpg"; border="0" alt="Ryan_Connolly's short film"></a>

And here's the trailer! One thing that sticks out to me is the music, very well done!

Only issue, and I'm picky, was the voice of the actor.. he sounded like he was acting towards the start of the trailer.

    "I didn't think I could do it. But.. the screaming" AARRRRGGHH C L I C H E .

But for a first time, I'm impressed. But who am I to judge?
  • Film Riot- I'm subscribed to it on YouTube. Brilliant! Didn't know the teaser was up, thanks!
  • Ha ha, what a coincedence, I also follow him on YouTube (I love his videos), and have been following the process of 'Tell' for quite some time, and it seems pretty interesting!

If anyone is interested in watching- here is a movie i worked on the past couple months-
It's like 13 min- About a girl trying to get over her ex and come to terms with the breakup.

  • A question for all the wonderful filmmakers here:

Do most of you write your own scripts? And if so, how long does it usually take for the whole process to finish?
  • A question for all the wonderful filmmakers here:

I write my own scripts yes. Firstly, being young, I haven't really got the money to hire people to write scripts, or purchase the rights for them. But also because I believe if you write a film and then go on to direct it, you have a better understanding of the charecters, the story and everything about the film.

In terms of time, to write a short film (maybe 14-20 pages) it would take maybe a month, that's if you wrote at least 3/4 of a page per day. For features, it can take around 5 months, however there is a book on "How to write a script in 21 days"- but this is for working non stop.

Following this, the writing, the script is then edited, and more drafts are produces. So for short films, to have a finished, shootable script, around 3-4 months. For features, about 7-8 months.

I write my own scripts, i've always preferred writing them myself, as it's usually me who comes up with an idea to base the film on, where i go on to direct it the way i first imagined it.

I try to do 'short-short' films at the moment, usually lasting around 5 / 10 minutes; two of my 'short-shorts' are approximately 4 - 5 minutes long, but I only wrote a 1 page script to each, which never took long to write, but took around 3 - 4 hours to shoot in one day.
