CR is very close in similarities I always feel. Lazenby was good, but not my favourite Bond, but the whole film left me with a hero and someone I wanted to be.
That's the effect a great Bond film should have on everybody.
The music, locations, out of this world lairs & Donald Pleasance as Blofeld all top marks.
My Aunt Betty kindly recorded the Bond films from Grampian TV on the much missed Betamax videos & they were taped for me to watch at a later age.
ITV always had Bonds on at Christmas & some how thanks to YOLT & Betamax I've been a massive 007 fan since that time.
My runner up is The Living Daylights
what I said
In any event, I put forth (again) Live And Let Die
Moore was hardly the best Bond we ever saw but his 1973 debut performance is actually a fun two hours spent, I remember seeing it years back and did feel it was more suited to mature teenagers than kids, all the Voodoo element, creepy goings on, Mister Big was a threatening and believable threat before he changed into a more benign and less threatening adversary for Bond as Doctor Kananga. Plus it has Jane Seymour, Paul McCartney and Wings for theme intros, a fun three part teaser, it's more darker edge than any of it's predecessors, I run out of superlatives sometimes, but it also has some negative factors such as an abysmal and stupid ending with Kananga blowing up like a balloon, the overbearing racial stereotypes of the time, and it does sag a bit here and there, but I always look forward to seeing Sheriff Pepper again, the boat chase through the Louisiana Bayous, the Croc' farm, Seymour again, the less clothes the better and Bond hand gliding with cigar towards the Kananga house on the cliffs, it's my favorite Bond release no matter what nobody says
Those are my feelings on CR, but I hope this time 9 months I'll be raving that Skyfall is my eternal favorite. Things look pleasing so far!

I feel very strongly about CR also and I really can't imagine a Bond movie toping it. But I have to admit I am also feeling very optimistic about Skyfall.
Word for word my feelings friend. It's great to see another CR lover around here!
Definitely a respectable choice Baltimore! I've had soft spot for LALD for a good while now, but unfortunately it suffered a drop out of my Top Ten after a recent disappointing viewing. I'll have to give it another go-around to try and put it back in the top ten though, I'd hate to see it outside the ten zone. My big problem with it the last time was the action. It just disappointed me, not being what I thought they used to be. I didn't like the bus chase or the airplane chase, and the boat chase dragged on too long without anything special happening. Anyway, the other elements like the villains, the score, and Roger Moore (rhyme!) keep it from going any lower than #11 as of now.
Forgot to add why - Because they are both classic Bond and I love the style and feel of these movies, being close to Bond's roots with Fleming. The storylines, the scores, the direction. They are stunning.
Simple. Most iconic Bond film there is. I know it's the easy choice for the layman and maybe seems lame for a hardcore fan to chose but it's that good, IMO. Best villian, best henchman, hottest Bond girls; I love Bond and GF's relationship. They duke it out the entire film, at the pool, on the golf course, on and on they fight and Bond seems to be so overmatched towards the end it seems like he can never win, especially the final fight with Odd Job. Man, that's tough!
The film took Bond to the stratosphere and cemented the series into the collective consciousness of the world. It's the reason TB made so much money. TB is great but it owes its success in part to this perfect film. GF rules all.
*Strongest plot, with the least amount of errors.
*Martin Campbell directing, good as in GE.
*Cute girls.
*Best Bond actor.
*Film is dark.
*Madagascar and Miami chases.
*Stunning score.
*Yellow M's office.
me too...
Definitely not lame for the hardcore fan. Where would the series be without GF? If it wasn't all that the series may have been discontinued, or worse, in the hands of someone other than Cubby and Harry. The movie exudes everything Bond is, and everything we all love about him. The total package is there on the screen that the first two only built towards. No question that TB's box owed it all to GF and the phenomenon it created.
Out in the Philly area we don't get to see the older Bond films on the big screen very often unlike NYC or LA. I cannot tell you how excited I am to travel a much shorter distance to Bethlehem to see GF on the big screen 6/17, and for my 11 year old son to see the greatest Bond of them all the way it should be seen :D

And a lot more besides! It really is an amazing film and the best Bond of the loft. Nothing does it better!
One of the earliest that I saw and the first that I purchased, and on that note, became my most watched Bond movie. It's dark, eerie, serious, and downright classy. The villains, namely Alec Trevelyan, and Pierce Brosnan as 007 drive this movie with full force that never ceases to amaze me. The action, especially when I first saw it, truly blows me away every time. Back when I first saw it, I had never seen anything like it in my entire life! Even Serra's score makes quite an impression, and for a kid who loved movie music soundtracks, Serra didn't fail to deliver! All in all my never-ending favorite!
Add me to this list.
1.Great PTS
2.Good OTS
3.Pierce Bronsan was awesome as 007
4.Martin Campbell has the director (He brought life back to the James Bond franchise)
5.Great job with casting all together
6.Great characters
8.Very great storyline (Michael France did a great job)
9.Good locations
10.Great action
11.Blend of comedy
12.Love the Bond cars (Even though the Jaguar only had 2 min of screen time)
13.Enjoyed Jon Don Baker as Jack Wade
14.The first Bond film to use CGI
Goldeneye was a materpiece! It will always have a special place in my heart, because it's the first Bond film I saw.
#1 It has Jane Seymour
#2 It has some great action sequences. The chase through the Louisiana Bayous being one prime example
#3 Mr Big as a truly great villain that radiates menace, although Kananga wasn't too bad either
#4 Clifton James' J W Pepper
#5 The voodoo angle, and your deviation away from the usual Bond route
#6 McCartney and Wings theme intro
#7 We get to see Bond's home
#8 We get a new James Bond
#9 It never gets you bored, always keeps the interest
#10 It has Jane Seymour in it again, just for good measure
Skyfall was a very good release, but even that can't overtake this, or any other James Bond film hitherto released
Goodnight
Moore was my favourite Bond as a kid and although this is no longer the case, my love of this film has stuck with me from childhood.
IMO Moore's best perfomance as Bond, also one of his more "serious" performances. His first "Bond, James Bond" I think is the second best delivery of the line ever (after Connery's first) and I just love the humour in the film which Moore delivers better than anyone, and in this case I don't think leads the film into slapstick territory as perhaps happened in some other Moore films. Instead it is simply very funny and adds to the film rather than spoiling it. When Bond says to Solitaire when getting dragged out on to the streets to be killed "now stay right where you are,..i shan't be long" it just conveys a supreme confidence, bordering on arrogance, that just makes me smile! But he also shows how ruthless even a Roger Moore Bond can be when Bond is trying to get information from Rosie and she says "they'll kill me if I do" and Bond replies with a gun to the head and not a second thought "and I'll kill you if you don't!"
On top of this, you have:
The slick PTS jumping from one location to another.
The muscial score is fantastic and very fitting to what you see on screen.
Some fantastic action sequences, personally i find the boat chase one of the best of the series, and I love the way he trundles in afterwards past the sign saying "make boating a safe sport!"
A very competent villain and a good overall performance.
An amazing Bond girl in Solitaire!
Some great and diverse locations.
Interestingly, Live and Let Die was mentioned in the buildup to Skyfall. Here is a newspaper extract of a Daniel Craig quote talking about him and Mendes in relation to Skyfall:
"We have exactly the same reference points, we both like the same Bond movies, and we both like the same bits in the same Bond movies we like." Going further, he said that their mutual love for Bond movies like Live and Let Die and From Russia With Love was instilled into the script.
