So for those who do like hockey and wish to continue discussing it, any projected outcomes for the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

I did my bracket this morning.

    Dallas in 5
    Chicago in 6
    Anaheim in 6
    LA in 7

    Wash in 5
    Pitt in 6
    Florida in 6
    Tampa in 7

One of the only brackets I've seen thus far that has the Pens beating the Rangers, so thank you. After these last 15 or so games the Pens have had, I'm surprised people are still so quick to count them out in the first round. I just want them to FINALLY trump the Rangers after these last couple of years and kick them out of the playoffs this time, not vice versa.

Pittsburgh is stronger this year, even with Fleury and Malkin out, they've still been on a tear. But if Zatkoff ends up starting the majority of the games, then there may be some trouble. The Rangers are hurting and King Lundquist seems slightly off this year.

Thankfully, after Murray's injury on Saturday (and with Sullivan calling up another goalie just in case from WBS), both Fleury and Maatta took the ice for the morning skate today. Hopefully one (or both) are back in time for game one on Wednesday.

Stupid Barclays Center in Brooklyn messed up our whole series schedule. Back to backs to start?? I had purchased tickets to Game 2 with the anticipation that it would be on Saturday. Not that it matters because I'm still going to Game 2 on Friday but the principle is annoying.

I've noticed a pretty wild and unfair fluctuation in the game days for certain matchups. For instance, the Pens and Rangers don't have a single back-to-back, but then they have a lot of three day breaks - which can be bad, kills momentum - while I see other matchups with numerous back-to-backs, or seeing all seven games (if all seven are played in the first round in some of these matchups) in a period of nine or ten days.

Jealous you get to make a playoff game, hope you enjoy it! I got to see the Pens lose 3-2 to the Caps back in early March, was hoping my uncle might get ahold of some free suite tickets for the playoffs at the Verizon Center, especially for the first round, as it'll be the only time I cheer on the Caps, as they crush the Flyers.

Well the difference is that down here, playoff tickets or just tickets in general don't cost half a testicle and your first born child. Actually there's still a plethora still available.

@Last_Rat_Standing, it's about time I teleport to southern Florida for a game, then. I'd enjoy seeing Jagr in person, doing what he does best.

$40 playoff tickets. Can't beat that right now.

Whaaaaaat? That's unheard of in my area. I'm two hours away from the Verizon Center, went to see how much the cheapest ticket was for the first game between the Capitals and the Flyers, and it's $70+ for nosebleeds.

Well they came out to $56 each with taxes and fees on ticketmaster. But back in 2012, when we play NJ, they were only $25 a piece and that included the fees. That's why I love being a hockey fan down here because I go to games and not pay a ton.

Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla.

I take it you're not a hockey fan?

    How could you guess?

Just out of curiosity.. why? As a huge fan of the sport, I'm always enlightened to hear reasoning beyond the hatred.

    What is there to like?

    What is there to hate?

I'm probably going to get a response of everything to each their own. I mean I hate basketball and soccer.

    Two more meaningless games.

    Couldn't agree more!

No offense meant to anyone, but for those that don't like hockey, don't talk about it/bring it up. For those that like it, feel free to discuss it. Forgive me if I don't entirely see the point of going into a thread and randomly posting a comment that degrades something another person enjoys without giving any solid arguments against it. If you leave that vital part of discourse out, all you're doing is crashing someone else's party just for kicks.

It's a shame the first three playoff games tomorrow are so close to one another in their start times, because I was itching to see the Chicago/St. Louis game, but the Pens and Rangers will probably be in the midst of the second period once it starts. Both of those should be great games, not terribly interested in the Detroit/Tampa game.

Actually, the Tampa-Detroit game will be the one I will watch the most. The good thing with them overlapping is that during intermission/commercials you can flip over to another game. I'm more of a southern team NHL fan so I'll be watching more of well the Panthers obviously, but Dallas, Nashville and Tampa.

That one could go either way, due to the injuries. I don't have television here, so all the hockey I watch is via garbage streams online. I'll probably just follow the Pens one, maybe catch the latter half of the Blues and Hawks, and check on the boxscore of Detroit/Tampa if I'm curious enough. My mom is a huge Stars fan, she's pretty excited over what they can do in the playoffs (especially with Seguin making his return and Benn being on fire like he is.)

I used to go to their games when I lived in Texas. My first two were playoff games back in 2008 which were a lot of fun. I have an app that streams perfectly and will have all of the games that are televised. Provided you have an android.

Whaaaat? Lucky. Is that the NHL App that's around $150 or so? I heard it had a lot of issues toward the beginning of this year, but I bet it delivers some crisp HD games with little-to-no streaming issues, which has to be wonderful. I'd have better luck finding a needle in a haystack than finding a proper streaming channel for a Pens game sometimes.

Its not that, but I'm not sure if I can mention it here publically.

I get what you mean. Understandable. Either way, bet it works like a charm and is much easier to use than the route I have to take! Playoffs time will be one of the only times I wish that I had television.

Also, did you see that they fired the Coyotes GM yesterday? Suppose it isn't terribly surprising.

What about the NBC Sports Live App? They broadcast the playoff games as well, well since NBC carries the rights.

I think apologies are more necessary on my side, @Dragonpol. I was tired and strung out when I typed that, so my exhaustion led me to overreact in a negative way.

Even with that app, I believe you have to have an NBC account, which means you have to have a TV subscription to some degree, which I don't.

No, no. It's quite alright. We all get like that given enough provocation! ;)
