    Anybody watching the Open Championship?

Jordan Speith is playing some really great golf. Although I was hoping Rory Mcllroy would be a contender.

Donald Trump is the worst US president in my lifetime, and God willing hopefully ever. What a complete disaster it has been.

Trump is bad, but we've had countless presidents who actually knew what they were doing, and that is terrifying when one considers the power of the office. We're lucky to have such a simpleton, though that can be a worry of its own, like giving a five year old a loaded gun.

But Trump isn't even the worst of the last 50 years, and certainly not in the whole history of the office. We've had presidents who were open anti-semites that made anti-Jew laws with impunity, those who created laws that sent people to jail for decades for even speaking out against the government (check out Woodrow Wilson's Sedition Act, just a 100 years ago), and others who had various mob connections or even used the office as a tool for criminal operation (I wish Nixon were the only example, but he's not).

Fear not. We're actually in a great place in America, and despite the ache of Trump I think checks and balances are more in line than ever before, simply because we've seen what goes wrong when you don't create roadblocks to ultimate power.

He's at least the least capable one we've had, and he's already made some efforts to ruin the environment and back up wealthcare. He's still plenty dangerous I think. Having Republican cronies at his side who simply want to spite the Democrats with bad new policies doesn't help either.

@FoxRox, he's extremely horrible, in many major areas, but I still wouldn't even call him the least capable. I'm big on presidential history, so when people make broad comments about "Trump is the worst" this or that, I immediately step back and find examples to support why that can't be.

He's not ideal by any stretch, and I would say I despise him and how he acts, but we've come so far politically in this country that we're in a better place to deal with a Trump presidency than ever before. He's not as clever or inherently devious as Nixon, so he wouldn't be able to be half the crook; he is so obvious in everything he does, that you never expect the man to get up to anything serious. We'd know it immediately, because he'd either telegraph the move or tweet about it. He's a fool and I'm ashamed we're in this place, but the system has balances in place to stop Trump from exerting the whole of his influence. It was the brilliant court system that blockaded the Muslim ban, just as the system has repelled some of his attempts to alter the American experience. We won't win all the battles, but it says a lot that much of his most obnoxious and aggressive acts have been met with an equal opposing force.

We just have to stick it out in the hopes that the American public come out in protest next time, instead of the large number who sat home and didn't vote at all. Democracy is predicated on a majority vs minority rule, and you need participants in on the vote to create such a statistic to make a decision on. The Democrats and Republicans are guilty of a lot from this past election, but so are the voters who didn't care to contribute to a very valuable and important right we have as men and women of liberty in a world that is full of nations who don't allow such privilege to their civilian populations. If we don't learn anything about why Trump won and how it can be avoided later, we deserve what we get the next time around if we fail to make changes.

And TMWTGG was the last Bond film I watched about a week ago...I was listening to a national talk radio show today, and I swear the talk show host said, "Now, let's go to Bill, in Fairbanks".

I have long enjoyed political cartoons, and though I'm not the greatest artist, I decided to start drawing them myself. Very fun and helps exercise frustrations I have with politics.

Ridiculous. It's not the democrats who are cavorting with ex-KGB and communists.

Just found it an interesting comparison to the most extreme on each side of the political spectrum. Not directly implying Republicans are Nazis and Democrats are Communists. But if one leans on one side very far, some comparisons can be found.

Exactly, @Birdleson. And if you look at the radical left and their censorship tactics you'll find a lot of fascist ties to meet the communist, despite the socialist focus.

Graphics like the above are those people make to seem like they're clever, when they should just sign up for some political science classes and see that these kinds of things don't happen exclusive to party. Both the Dems and Repubs are guilty for where we're at now, and both have a past of some truly messed up things.

There are obvious similarities when you look at the extremists. Not meant to be 100% accuracy for all Republicans and Democrats.

Believe me, I understood the point being made clearly. I just find it to be a very ignorant and reactionary view. These are the folks that think America is burning, but we've faced worse before and we'll get through it. It's also a mark against the good men and women in the political sphere of our country who are the only reasons that Trump hasn't gotten to execute some of his worst ideas. The system has serious issues but graphics like the above assume that everyone in politics is there to advance their own goals in sacrifice of the state, as if they are indifferent to their nation and its problems. Just like how the bullshit anti-police groups think, where apparently law enforcement officers sign up for shit hours and a hazardous work environment away from their family to oppress black people and practice impunity. Then when trouble does come these groups dial 911 immediately, screaming for the assistance of the heroes in blue they want to destroy.

Our country is full of hypocrites and fools who lack awareness and common sense. When folks get done trying to "drain the swamp," they should buy these folks some books to give their ignorance some place to go and die.

Point taken, but I think you are taking it too hard. Just a cartoon. I can't blame people for being negative towards politics.

When this is something you see everyday, and have studied before, it's difficult not to take it hard. The shit like the above is what gets innocent cops killed, because groups put into people's heads that conspiracies are against them.

People can be negative towards politics all they want, but they should be mindful of its history too. All I hear is how it's never been worse for the country, that this is the lowest state the office has ever been in, and I chuckle. Trump is an idiot and in some ways cruel, but for a country that got its start fighting a massive war against a powerful tyrannical government to create this nation that would've resulted in our future presidents being hung if we lost, which has seen a terrifying civil war that remains one of the bloodiest ever, and has seen presidents perpetrate actual crimes on a morally deprived level in the name of state censorship or their own selfish corruption just decades from today, you really have to wonder where all this is coming from.

If people did a little reading instead of jumping on the ignorant bandwagon they wouldn't find themselves hitched to such misinformation. Modern America has seen a greater notice of minority groups, has expanded the role of women and given gays the kinds of rights they always should've had. Trump and his cronies aren't going to spoil that, and that's because better people are there in our glorious checks and balances system to stop him from doing his worst. I get more angry at the people who think they live in a concentration camp than I do the uneven government we're receiving. I'd love to see folks live out a week in Afghanistan, Korea or Russia, just to give them a perspective of just how sweet the freedom of America is. In other nations they'd be shot or tortured for saying the stupid things they do, but here in this country they get to practice the freedom of lamenting their "lost" liberty.

I agree with you we have a lot more freedom here than many other places and people do easily forget that. Maybe who did draw this is an entitled ingrate; I don't know. I don't read into this too far though and think of it in a lighter sense than you do. Part of being in this country is we can enjoy making light of politics and the system and that's all the pic does for me.

It's just not in my nature to be light with things like this, as it's real and matters and because I love history I'm closer to it.

Political cartoons can be funny and poke fun, but the message of the above seems to lack frivolousness and seems to say quite emphatically that our country is run by fascists and communists with little sense of lightness or joking. Until the president starts burning down newspaper builds, killing off his political competition and throwing dissenters into jail for saying something against him, I'll have to disagree. The nation of Stalin and Hitler this ain't.

Political cartoons are often exaggerations; same thing here. Only a moron would really think our nation is as messed up as that. Obvious exaggeration so I didn't expect it to raise such offense. Oh well

Yes, obvious exaggeration of humor and political humor, @FoxRox. I have my views, it didn't offend me. But it did get the serious response denying one side of it. Pretty timely considering current events.
There are some unrestrained, unhinged political views regularly expressed here as a matter of course, presented with a School of Common Knowledge absolutist modern PC approach. This one had an unusual balance to it, I must say.
