my Mom (such a dear) pulled aside this article for me to read.. it was in our local paper 'The Cleveland Plain Dealer' - but I guess it was taken from The Saturday Evening Post, the writer of the article is Lewis Beale... i thought i would pass this on to those here on Mi6, as bit of a discussion topic.... and for the sake of space, I am condensing the info in the top 5s, to simply 'what made each film great' according to the writer..
the full article can be seen here...

The top 5 according to Mr. Lewis Beale of The Saturday Evening Post...
"From Russia With Love" (1963)
Why It's Great:
A Cold War spy caper with superbad villains intent on world domination.
"Goldfinger" (1964)
Why It's Great:
A daring robbery plan, nasty supervillain and his sinister henchman Oddjob. Mix that with a female flying corps, one of the best Bond title songs, and a terrific final action sequence and you get perhaps the greatest Bond film ever.
"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969)
Why It's Great:
George Lazenby is no Sean Connery, but he's OK as Bond, and the film is tight, smart, and extremely well directed with killer action sequences.
"Licence To Kill" (1989)
Why It's Great:
Criminally underrated at the time, this is an exciting action film with Timothy Dalton as a nasty, driven Bond out to stop a drug lord and avenge the attempted murder of his friend Felix Leiter.
"Casino Royale" (2006)
Why It's Great:
Grade-A reboot of the series featuring a macho but sensitive Daniel Craig as 007 and smashing action sequences.
discuss... agree, disagree.
