Yeah, that's the one! I love that shot, it's great. I wish my Casino Royale DVD had those deleted scenes included. For now I'll have to resort to Youtube!
My brother has a Casino Royale poster in his room, and on it there is a still shot from that deleted scene of Bond and Vesper in the water. I always wondered if that was a deleted scene or just a publicity thing. I've watched the CR deleted scenes on Youtube, and you're right, it isn't included.
Really? Cool! I need to watch the Bond trailers more often to find those scenes that are always never in the finished film, but show up in the trailers. Kind of like finding an undiscovered treasure!
Just a real shame I will have to steer clear from the boards after it is released overseas, to avoid spoilers.
The fight with Obanno, Slate...I can't wait to see him duke it out with Jarvier Bardem. (provided that Babs and Mikey does not deny us this) .
They were scissors, not a knife.
It happens. I thought it was a knife too. All i payed attention was to the fight.
No worries. I had to look at the scene frame by frame to see the scissors. The downside of fast editing, and the fight itself was already hella quick.
But anyway, yeah, I echo what everyone else has been saying pretty much. The Obanno and Slate fights were pretty good (although the editing in the second didn't really do it for me) and I also love the scene in the hotel elevator in Quantum where he disables the MI6 bodyguards. The fight with Greene was quite good too, but too brief to leave any memorable impact.
The fight is very vicious and quick, so it was hard to tell what he even picks up. I always thought it was scissors, but initially, I thought it was a shard of glass from the door Bond sends Slate through.
Even when Bond is first attacked by Slate, I had to watch some random making-of video on Youtube to notice Bond stops a hit by him with his elbow, then grabs him and they go through the door.

Like I said, really, really, hard to spot in real time. Thank you screencaps!
I knew it looked a bit strange to be a knife, but I didn't expect scissors. I thought maybe a small stiletto blade or something, like Rosa Klebb's spike in her shoe.
Cool !
Nice find doubleoego.
You just made my day @doubleoego ! :)
I purchased "Pride and Prejudice" for my sister yesterday and while she was watching it , I thought to myself ,Is the director of this a serious candidate for Bond ?!
I mean , it felt very out of the realm of Bond. But now you tell me that Hanna directed by Wright has good action and I know you do know your action . I couldn't have been more happy .
I'll purchase Hanna tomorrow and I'll give it a watch.
But is it really on the level of QoS or Cr ?
EPIC- The only word that springs into mind to describe the Greene Bond fight . :)
Its just pure chaotic mayhem with the building on fire and the sprinklers running.
With an axe wielding maniac at the centre of it all, trying to butcher a bear fisted Bond :D
if that doesn't get one's adrenaline pumping , nothing will ! :)
If they do decide again to take a directory who is new to the field of action like Mendes.
I hope he will at the very least take notes from the fisticuffs of CR and QoS. With a good second unit I feel it is very much possible to attain that level if not trump it.
Take Forster he had no experience in the field of action , but he learnt and he beat Campbell someone who does have that experience. I think its very much possible. Just that we need someone who is willing to do it.
FYI, I think Hanna as an overall movie is quite average but it does have some good fight scenes that I feel would be executed much better with a more experienced team and budget behind it. That said, the action in Hanna is a bit more clinical than in CR and QoS. With the latter 2 movies, the fights are mostly accompanied with a brawling approach, whereas the fights in Hanna are more in line with the Bond Vs Slate fight except that it's shot and edited in a way where you can have better clarity as to what's going on.
This is 1 clip from the movie as an example:
Also, below is an awesome clip from the Korean movie, the man from nowhere. If we got an action set piece like this in a Bond film, I'll gladly buy and wear a dress and skip along the longest stretch of road in London.
The Hanna clip gave me the much needed confidence in Joe Wright. It isn't exactly what you expect as in the Bond/Slate manner . But that's perfectly understandable since it wasn't aiming to do that.
I agree with a more experienced team and a higher budget, they can accomplish even oust the QoS fights.
The second one was extremely brutal
Haha :))
It was very violent ! and enjoyable too . Though I think we are far away of getting a fight on that calibre in a Bond movie.
One thing though,
Lets go over the top .
Since its inception Bond has been the in the top tier of action movies. But Brosnan had comes as life support to the series and towards the end they found themselves competing with Bourne which was on a calibre of its own.
In an attempt to reclaim the throne .They chose Daniel Craig as Bond and brought violent Bourne like fisticuffs to the series. Evidently it has worked very well.
But Bourne is no longer in the game, after Matt Damon left the series, the hype of Bourne has died down and they no longer find themselves competing with action of such high standards,
That could be one of the reason we are left with such poor fight scenes in Skyfall ?
Thoughts ?
Yeah, its very sad indeed but look around you, can you think of a single action movie of this time which gets the kind of acclaim and recognition that Bourne got in its time. Oddly enough the only chance I feel for Bond to up its game is if Bourne returns or any action movie which makes that kind of impact. That seems hardly unlikely.
You see even now Bourne Ultimatum has a higher ranking on sites such as rotten tomatoes and Imdb than Skyfall. My opinion is the kind of fame that Bourne got in 2007 for Ultimatum , made the producers want to up they're game for QoS
Check this out , a fabulous action scene. Its blended perfectly with the story of the girl getting hunted by an assassin. I couldn't get the whole scene though.
Freakishly Brutal and amazing wasn't it ? :D
I believe this served as the inspiration for the Sienna Rooftops in QoS .
