YES! He looks great there.
Ah, we all see things differently, I’m not a fan of this cut for Bond; it’s a touch too long and flat. I’m also not a fan of the hard part , comb over.
He looks his best to me during the scene were he win the DB5, the shooting of Mr White and at the end of Quantum, when he leaves Greene in the desert. Daniel suits his messy cut instead of when his fringe is down, he looks a bit less tough
Some fellas don't suit longer hair, I grew mine out to please the Mrs, it didn't suit me at all and it was a ball ache to wash
Definitely his most Bondian cut in the traditional sense, and yet he never really had this style in any of the Bond movies.
The comb over IS the Bond look though, left parting style, written by Fleming, and donned by Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brozza.
If you say you are not a fan of this cut for Bond, you mean you're not a fan of the cut that every actor has had over 40 years...?
I think what he saying is, Daniel doesn't looks that great in comb hair as much as other bond actor had over 40 years.
Connery’s first three are great. Rog looked good in his first three when shorter. Pierce looked great in his last two and Craig in all but Skyfall.
The key words in my post were, “hard part” meaning ruler straight and combed over.
It looks like an accountant cut. No offense to accountants. ;)
Great look. There are some serious clunkers in CR where he looks dodgy. But there are also some great moments (such as posted by @talos7 above), where he has his most Bondian hair of his entire run. It just so happens that the clangers (that I posted on the previous page tend to stick out more).
I don't necessarily think the side-parting is the 'Bond haircut', Craig was allowed to put a contemporary twist on it. Though it would have been easier to just have styles his hair like this during the casino scenes. The more classical look would have suited those sequences. This photo was taken a few months after CR wrapped in 2006 at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
I put a challenge out to everyone on this forum to find a screencap from CR's casino scenes where Craig's hair looks half as good as it does here.
Even in NTTD it's a little spikier and quiff-like than his hair in QOS-SP. Just take a look below......
Yes, I agree with this although I do like Brozza's hair throughout all 4 of his movies.
Wrong. The side parting IS the Bond haircut. It appeared in every film other than CR, and even then in CR there were shots where a left side parting was evident.
Craig did put a modern twist on it, but the side parting before CR was and still is the definitive Bond haircut. It was donned by every previous actor who played him, and described as such in the novels.
I do think the short spikey hair in CR was influenced by Damon's Bourne at that time, and since then the producers decided to stick with it short for his films that followed. Even after CR, Craig's hair did have some kind of side parting, even the skinhead in SF had a mere suggestion of it.
No doubt it will make a return again in the longer, fuller sense, as the classic side parting is now more popular than ever. The likes of Cavill and Hardy have this cut in their everyday life, both deemed suitable for the role.
Yeah. Craig's hair looked very Bondian here with the slight Comma.
Yeah. Craig's side parting was done in a subtle way, without showing the skin completely. Let's hope it makes a full-blown return with Bond 7.
-1 ;)
I think it will do. Here's hoping.
LOL was I untrue?
Yeah. We hope so.
No, its just that some don't like the traditional and classic look of Bond, which beggars the question why they are massive fans of the franchise in the first place.
In being more specific, about hairstyle in general, even when parted to the side, I prefer the front to be up and off of the forehead ( Connery’s first 3 ) as opposed to straight over ( Connery’s other 4)
Lol. Yeah. I've always liked the liberal approach to things. I like rock music, but it doesn't mean if the next guy doesn't like rock music, he has no musical taste. Like you said earlier, we all have our preferences and it's something we all have to respect. So it's all good :)
No offence meant, @talos7
None taken...
Fleming did have Bond part his hair on the left. I don't remember him describing a specific length to Bond's hair with the exception of the LALD novel.
I tend to assume Bond's normal hair length was similar to Ian's himself or Hoagy Carmichael. A standard classic 1940's/1950's length. I think I prefer Connery's first 3 haircuts as well. Something timeless yet classic about his early look. I also like a good tapered nape.
I actually like all of the Bond actor's hairstyles. Lately I'm digging Sir Roger's later pompadour look. Reminds me of THE SAINT only without the shine.
