My thoughts exactly. I don't hate any of them, nor do I wish for any of them to be deleted from the history of Bond. As you say, I do have little nitpicks here and there, but I have plenty of reasons to watch all of them and still have a good time.

Indeed. I have fun watching any Bond film. they make the Day better and my Day better at that.

Nice. Yes I enjoy the Bigger somewhat Over the Top Bond films. They have a special place in my heart considering my top 10 inspire me to be that kind of filmmaker someday. :)

@Murdock, if you give us a film like GE, you can guarantee at least five tickets sold just from me.

Or it was created by a big fan of Brosnan's who enjoys his films, such as myself. Granted, my list doesn't look exactly like that, but quite a few are on it. No need to be arrogant.

Yeah that is mad! Cant even begin to understand the rationale of having CR and QOS top 3 and yet not a sign of FRWL or OHMSS but DAD cheekily sitting there in an incredible 6th place. It would seem you like the big over the top films but then CR sitting so high shafts that theory as well.

The only thing that can be said is you just like modern Bond films above all or that you are a die hard Judi Dench fan.

Calm down 00Beast 'howling mad' is an A Team reference not a gross personal insult and Murdock took it in the spirit it was intended. And seeing as it was he who upped the ante from your top 15 to top 10 I am perfectly entitled to 'jump all over him' as you put it. Now he reveals hes got it at 6 I should actually be entitled to take him round the back and put a luger to his temple (its the kindest thing for him).

Does anyone have the cojones or downright lunacy to rate DAD higher than a stratospheric 6th?

He hates Brosnan (I know, he's insane). I think the avatar is meant to be ironic or something.

With respect Wizard, that's very narrow minded. Nobody here probably has it higher than 6th, but DAD was and still is extremely popular with the general public, because it represents escapism at its most modern. It's a fun movie. Not liking it has no bearing on its quality. I dislike Moore's later offerings very much, but I'd never offer to put a Luger to the heads of their fans. It's a bit ridiculous the way people go on about DAD, like its the worst thing since Nagasaki. By Bond standards, its obviously not the best, but by normal film standards its better than half of action adventure films in the past 12 years, thanks to the first hour alone. I'd take DAD over DAF, MR, or AVTAK anyday. Put a Luger to my head because of that, and I'll have my Magnum against your chest in return.

Ironic, considering you commented that someone was insane when they post a new, daring list, over and over and over. Deal with it, their choice is their choice. There isn't anything you can do, so give it up.

I like FRWL and OHMSS. Though I have to be in the right mood to watch them. I am from the 90's era, I was raised on the Modern Bond films first then discovered the older ones. I just like the newer ones better because that's the age I came from and enjoy more. In my humble opinion, If I had watched some of the earlier Bond films before I saw GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies, I probably wouldn't have been as much as a fan. However back in 2002, there was a time where Die Another Day sat happily at Number 2 for me. >:)

@Murdock, that's how I am. GE introduced me to the Bond world, I loved it, so it's my favorite one. Thus, I really enjoy the Brosnan era films.

It isn't just him. It's the writing, some of the villains that brought the film down, the themes that can be atrocious, lack of innovation...

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, I think it's mostly that that is how it usually comes across in dialogue: it's because of Brosnan, not so much anything else.

Getafix and Wizard have just as much right to their opinions as anyone and if they think Murdock's list is crazy, they're entitled to say so.

I think Murdock's list, especially numbers 6 and 9 in particular, are way out there myself. There comes a time when being a big fan of someone, too much "man love", can overrule common sense. But he is entitled to have it, I see some merit in some of his selections. Now, if someone here wants to jump on me for having an opinion, bring it on.

It's our privilege to disagree and state our opinions, but not one person here complaining is a moderator. I respectfully suggest that if someone has a problem that they report their concerns to a mod and stop trying to do their job. That's what I intend to do.

Unfortunately, as the lead actor he gets most of the weight pushed on him, and most of the criticism. I myself am guilty of blaming him more than I should at times. It is a shame, because there are way more problems with the era than with anything Brosnan did.

I'll admit, I have crazy "man love" for Brosnan.

GE is my favorite Bond. I quite enjoy the rest. But, I do focus on more of these and the Craig-era films than I do the others, so I never mean to neglect those. I absolutely love what the rest brought to the table: Connery's are undisputedly excellent, Moore brought incredible humor and fun to the role, Lazenby gave me a real enjoyable time, and Dalton is one of my favorite Bond actors, both of his films were tremendous good fun.

That being said, it boils down to everyone being entitled to their own opinion, with nothing being fact or common sense. Some think DAD is the biggest pile of trash to ever hit cinemas, while others extremely enjoy it, and that's just how the site works.

This I agree with. Every Bond can be critiscised. I just find it annoying how sometimes you can't say a bad word about some of the Bonds.
  • edited July 2012 Posts: 3,494
@ TLR- That's a very fair and acceptable point. The only monkey wrench is that some people take it past the point of reasonable opinion. Brosnan gets called "pain face", Craig is "a thug", those are malicious and often I question the opinion of these supposedly "mature" adults. At the same time, some people like I said get blinded with too much love for an actor and can't comprehend that a negative opinion of a movie they are in is not necessarily an attack on the actor. But then, we have quite a few teenagers around here and I know how that is having been one and having one to raise right now...fickle and often too rigid in opinion.

No one around here loves Sir Sean any more than I do, polls or not, but I have the maturity to see the differences as an example in the quality of his first 4 films compared to DAF and YOLT.
