I want to discuss the boring topic; first of all, I never got bored with DN, GF, and YOLT at any time, and I've seen them all multiple times. However, there were plenty moments in FRWL, TB, and DAF that bored me, particularly scenes w/o Connery, underwater, and almost all of DAF's second half. Now that I think about it, DAF kinda reminds me of DAD; I thought they both had solid first halves, but fell apart pretty badly in ACT 2....

Robert Shaw may be the best actor who ever played in a Bond movie.

    I won't argue that one.

I think its either him or Ralph Feinnes.

The really hard question is who was the worst actor of all time in a Bond movie...
  • Just no end to this damn thread, but someone put down Diamonds are Forever as dullest Bond release. Not so, as Goldfinger takes the award by some distance over all others. The operative word being boring, Thunderball does get tiring in the second half, with the overprolonged underwater scenes and any action there is, (as with Tomorrow Never Dies) takes place in the first half, and kind of leaves the rest of the film devoid of any real interest

To quote the above, Shaw may have been decent in the Donald Grant character, but was never an actor I ever really rated. "Best" actor is controversial for sure. He did a good job in From Russia With Love but could reel of a half dozen other names right now that warrant a place on a higher plateau

    Easy. Barbara Bach.

You think so? I'm no Barbara Bach fan either, but there's some pretty bad actors (some worse than her) IMO

I'd still go with Shaw. He is also one of the most accomplished artist to every play in a Bond movie.

You haven't seen many of his movies I guess. Robert Shaw was an amazing actor and took the role of a mean goon, mostly silent role, and gave it dimension nobody else would have done and ever did. And he was also a writer in his own right.

If there is a movie with Robert Shaw I take the time to watch it.......... every time. He made Jaws great. the Deep exciting, together with Bissets white shirt while diving, and I am a big fan of Black Sunday, while in Robin & Marian he makes the Sheriff of Nothingham both sympathetic and vile.

One of my favourite actors of all time so well said.

I can't really select just one, but I think the best actors besides Shaw in the series would include Sean Connery, Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, and Judi Dench.

Check him out in his most acclaimed roles: THE STING and A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS.

Oh gosh in The Sting he is simply amazing. Even in lesser known movies, like Young Winston where he plays Randolph Churchill...

What's with all the Chiles hate , I think she's good and I believed she was 007s equal.....not as radiant as say Andress or Bianchi but still pretty.

Shaw is, without question, the best actor to appear in the series thus far. Besides his incredible ability, when have you ever seen Sean Connery look vulnerable in a Bond flick? Only opposite Shaw. The guy is masterful. He's also, for me, the only actor who successfully translated from page (Fleming) to screen.

That. Bond looks completely lost, I think even the lazer scene in GF does not have such powerful effect.
  • You Know My Name is the best theme song (not counting instrumentals, namely OHMSS) in the series. I'm not 100% sure this is controversial because that song is universally lauded. But I've rarely if ever seen it top a list.

It's a close second to LALD for me.

I didn't consider the song aspect for some reason for this thread. You Know My Name is my favorite song of them all as well with lyrics (OHMSS is just spectacular instrumentals). Don't know if controversial, but my other favorite songs include Live and Let Die, Nobody Does it Better, and Skyfall.

  • Not sure how controversial, but I like the themes from the Dalton films. I also really liked the Pretenders songs from TLD.

Both in my top 10! (LTK at #2 and TLD at #6)

Also, I think Live and Let Die is a terrible song. I find the lyrics moronic and the music sounds to me like five different (and none very good) songs strung together.
  • I actually prefer B. J. Arnaud's version of LALD. I wish I could hear it in its entirety.
  • I also like GN'R's version of LALD.

The Tosca scene, while ok, has never really blown me away. While I don't hate it I always think...meh. I've felt that way the more times I've watched it.

    Pretentious fluff.

If you want more effective dramatic cross-cutting watch the court-room scene in Skyfall.

Lupe Lamora should have been the main Bond girl in LTK.

Only if she was recast with a superior actress.

Talisa Soto was not a great actress, but the character, if a bit of a genre cliché, was still classic Bond girl, more than Pam. And she had the perfect kind of exotic beauty for a Bond girl.

I was always a little disappointed that Sanchez never found out that Bond had slept with Lupe. It seems that would have really set him off and provided for a more dramatic showdown.

Yeah, but I still liked Carey.
