How observant you are. Your blood pressure must be through the roof. I can say what I want and your reaction says more about you. You have been caught with you emotional pants down.
A man with your reactions cannot possibly be capable of having a relationship with a woman.
A psychological evaluator would have a field day with you.
Sad Barry.
How many of you against one of me. I am flattered by the attention. And I thought James Bond was supposed to inspire manliness not adolescent hysterics.
The Americans/Canadians etc are coming online now,so good luck with that..
The American friends you have are probably of the intelligence level of Sheriff J W Pepper and rednecks to boot.
You earned it. You keep it.
You've lost all relevancy @acoppola. At first your Timothy Dalton obsession was cute in a twisted gothic-like kinda way.
And then you upped your game with that comment about Babs wanting to destroy Connery's legacy; that just borders on the Norman-Bates-ain't-got-nothing-on-me territory...
But now, with your lame and slightly anti-American tinged slight, you've become nothing more than a 1980s cartoon "provocateur"...
I apologize for bringing up the great Orange One during my discussions with @acoppola earlier today, but in a way, the furor over those brief comments (I think it was one or two at the most and it was in context of what we were discussing - not meant to be a political statement or anything of that sort) kind of proved his point.
At the end of the day, I hope we can stop this bickering and get back to the topic of Bond and whether Dalton is a useless actor in the role in comparison to Craig or not ;)
It's really all good, I hope.
I personally prefer Craig, but understand and acknowledge that Dalton didn't get the same budget, commitment or vision from EON that Craig did.
Moreover, Craig was able to see what Dalton did which didn't work, and was also able to benefit from other successful spy/reboot franchises such as Bourne (who was also superbly contemplative - particularly at the end of the Bourne Supremacy) and Batman Begins (a masterfully executed reboot from the man who made the concept fashionable). Dalton only had Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Stallone & Arnie for contemporary inspiration.
So I think Dalton is underappreciated. I feel some of that is deserved and some of it is on account of EON.
To your point about the films of the Dalton era, they all had leading men who were charismatic... That, along with some high concept storytelling (DIE HARD in particular) was the magic recipe.
I think they dumped him in a Moore/Brosnan (since he was initially on the list for this film) situation for TLD and then tried something altogether different for LTK, thereby throwing people. His supporting cast outside of Davi was useless for most of LTK as well. If he had a little more quality around him, I think he could have really been elevated. Perhaps not to Craig levels, but certainly better than he ended up being.
Dalton with Campbell (who brought the best out of Brosnan and Craig) might have really been something.
Fair play me olde pal...but could you imagine Craig interrogating Pushkin ?....i know Dalton was good in that ,but Craig ? scary...
The quips and more jokey lines were less successful though. They weren't something that you felt Dalton would actually say.
An silly idea by one none Eon Exec....probably a token PC gesture to appear PC to her peers or even 'publically'. Look ar the facts Bond is more bankable as Fleming conceived. All the nations you mention above are non influential and poor.....ie you wont make as much money there....and a black Bond would detract the proven audience that is already there. Oh and Amy Pascal has left Sony, so her silly Elba comment has gone with her.
