What are his/her reasons for this uncharacteristic dislike?
I wonder who that could be. Maybe you should put that on the "Guess the character" thread.
That would be a turn up, J.W haha !!
Don't tell me, you hate the jailer in TLD because he was mean to Kara?
Oh no.
That gets a standing ovation from me ,every time !
I have a friend who dismisses CR because "Bond should not fall in love".
Well, here's her reasons...
*Vesper set up as a non-damsel-in-distress but later revealed to be one
*Commits suicide without facing the consequences
*She simply manipulates Bond for the whole time
*Friend does not get the all "I hate you but after almost dying I now love you" bit
Does that guy pip Anya, Bibi and Christmas to worst acting in a Bond film? And in the same film that stars John 'World War III' Terry that's going some.
This is fair. I remember there used to be a bit of debate at how the Bond/Vesper love story was undercooked and needed a few more scenes to really sell it.
And then we got SP and Madeline and the relationship in CR now looks like Romeo and Juliet.
As mentioned on here before, the guy used to be in a soap opera based in Liverpool called Brookside, hence his accent is basically as Scouse as 'The Beatles' !!
You might find him on You Tube if you look up Brookside.
His accent is nearly the same in TLD,talk about bad casting.
How hard is it to find a big bloke who can do a passable Russian accent?
To be fair though it's probably Dalton's best fight scene.
This is what i find incredible Wiz,why do they cast someone from a British soap,in a British film,a BOND film, that people will recognize and laugh at.
How do these casting directors get away with it..isnt the final cut checked ?
Julie T Wallace gets away with it because she probably practiced her arse off,and she did more credible British TV at the time than soaps.
That film...i tell you,for a Bond debut,an important one after Sir Roger finished, did some shit casting.
I sometimes think its only John Barry's score that saves it.,along with Jonathan Rhys Davies/Thomas Wheatley.
NB: Sorry about the 2 posts instead of one everybody,i'm watching TV at the same time and cocked up.
This site really needs a delete feature !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree. It's a matter of years in the role, and 6 years is almost as long as Brosnan. Tastes change, and EON are hampered currently by Craig's limitations as an actor. He can't play the light hearted Bond, and that's increasing what's required from him. Look at how Mission Impossible and Kingsman have embraced the comic tone, and the success they have with it. Look at the marvel movies, very light hearted and breezy. Why is it that Bond is pretending like it's still 2006 and the gritty reboot is still vogue. Things have changed and we need someone in the role who can adapt to the new norm. Craig is still Bond only as a matter of convenience because he and Babs work well together (similar to Moore and Cubby back in the day).
True...but TLD accents gets on my wick ;)
and for me it s GE, but when you generally dislike a film, you are less forgiving about everything. Same as with people.
So true Thundy,sooooooo true.
Agreed, and Onatopp...GE and TLD are chalk and cheese when it comes to re-watchabilty and fun.
GE #6
TLD #24
Enough said.
At least they make the effort. TLD jailer can't even be arsed and just plays him as a Scouser. Who does he think he is - Sean Connery?
Come on,Ouromov is excellent..and its not trying to be as serious..if you want to be a serious Bond film then get it right, ala FRWL.
"Hey, what are you tryin' to pull, Goldfinga?" It's more like Johnny Dangerously than James Bond. It takes me out of it, but it seems like GF gets a pass when comes to things like this.
That she does.
