That was an attempt of my side to be sarcastic.. \:D/
Oh! Sorry; I usually get the sarcasm. I rather enjoy it. :D I know there are so many Dr. Who fans.
Ah, sorry. It's hard to tell when it's in text.
God save the Queen!
No need to joke about it - it's already happened/ will happen (timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly)... ;)

Yes, I don't like the sound of this if it's true.
Fleming always said that agents were not permitted to receive knighthoods for obvious reasons and Bond was offered, on one or two occasions, a medal or/and knighthood (can't remember exactly) that he not only turned down because it wasn't allowed but also due to the fact that he's not intersted in such things.
...absolutely hated this episode and I've always thought that scene was the nadir of nuWho.
Bring on Danny boy, it gives me a reason to watch the olympics and I'm sure it'll be done rather tongue in cheek.
No, it won't have anything to do with the films. Eon would be out of their minds to start calling Bond Sir Bond in the films. I just don't particularly like the character being associated with such things even if it happens outside of the cinematic and literary world.
But Bond will never retire in the movies. As long as the money keeps being raked in, 'James Bond Will Return'
I hope he doesn't receive a knighthood though.
Yes, I think so, there are other reports about the Queen being on the heli herself, too.

That does sound pretty awesome, if it happens.
I think that bit was made up, even though the rest of the story may well be too.
Where did you read that?

I'm just guessing it's not true. It doesn't fit in with the rest of what we've heard.
Being the biggest fan, it would be amazing.
But in the real world...nope...could we have the opening of the games by a shoot first ask questions later....Not the best image being the host nation could portray.
I think it's a bit cheesy, but it's fun, it's something to be excited about before SF and it's good publicity for SF. Plus, I like the Olympics and I like Bond, so most of it is fine by me. I'd prefer it if the Queen wasn't involved though tbh.
James Bond is a British icon. This has nothing to do with the tone of any of the films. That's why the character is supposedly involved in the launch of the Olympics. How is it cringeworthy? How you you have Bond open the games?
As for Bond, as others have said, James Bond is a British icon and if he is fitted into the opening ceremony somehow, it sounds like fun to me. A lighthearted salute to something truly British that the world knows and loves. Not to be taken seriously but a nod. I hope it is true.
I love the Olympics, and I still remember the remarkable Barcelona opening ceremony with the archer shooting the flaming arrow to light the torch! Exciting and beautifully executed under pressure.
