As (another) Liverpool fan, i haven't been to any matches in recent years mainly due to my job. However, i quit 2 weeks ago to start my own business (yes i was a little disappointed when i handed in my resignation that my boss didn't say "this isn't a country club 007!") , and decided to use my new found freedom to go to Anfield. Why, after so many years, do i choose the day when we go and get turned over 3-1 by Aston Villa? I must admit though, even i almost applauded their second goal, it was Barcelona like!

Did anyone watch Sports Personality on the beeb?

It shows what a travesty of a team we are when Bond gets more lines than the England manager in an international tournament year!

Rooney, JT et al seemingly given the Nikki van der Zyl treatment to avoid spoiling the positive post Olympics celebrations by showing their gormless faces - and a good thing too.

Congrats Sir. If you can hold your nerve in the second leg then surely the trophy is yours as anyone would take having to beat Bradford in the final and even if by some miracle Villa manage to dig it out in the second leg everyone at Swansea should remember one fact - Villa are utter shite.

Indeed as a Liverpool fan its amazing to think theres another ex-European cup winner out there who is having a more dismal 12 months than us.

    3-0.

I know we're not in the days of Moore and Greenwood anymore but surely to God we can do better than this?!

Howard Webb in charge so its already 12 v 11 before we start and the mandatory red card before half time for a Liverpool player means we will need a Luis masterclass to get anything.

C'mon redmen! I can't wait for the game , you never know with Liverpool!
  • Come on the Mighty Liverpool.

I feel a blow out either way. If Liverpool score first they will win or draw.

Or if that other club score first they will win and win big. I can't see Liverpool coming from behind, they don't have the players.

I do like coming from behind though.

Handball or Pepe saving a ball 10 yards behind the goal line.

I fear the Ref will send Suarez off and it will be settled on a dodgy penalty. Love the Liverpool away kit.

    Pretty grim so far.

Got to get Sturridge on ASAP, Suarez hasnt had a kick. Downing a waste of time as always and Allen not far behind him.
  • Sturridge scores...to get us back in the game....Suarez to get it to level and score the winner?

Not this time. It's lonely at the top, but great.

Too right, how did Sturridge miss that to the level game...only Andy Carrol will know.

Fairly predictable. We deserved at least a point and got nothing as per.

Surely Suarez has to get on to his agent in the morning. The bloke could have his pick of any club in the world so why does he want to piss his career away alongside Downing and Henderson?

If we can hang onto him till the summer then get £45-50m for him we can't really complain can we?

Opportunist goal from Sturridge. Welbeck tore Skrtel a new one. You had a decent second half but class told in the end. I wish you were a better side given the history of the fixture but we didn't even get out of third gear. I think you'd be lucky to finish top 10 without Suarez. You need to keep hold of him.

    Did anyone see this?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/9801632/Joey-Barton-and-former-Liverpool-and-Man-City-midfielder-Dietmar-Hamann-in-frankly-hilarious-Twitter-altercation.html

Most amusing tirade from Nietzche scholar, 'England international' footballer and Arthur Bostrom from Allo Allo impersonator Joesph Barton.
Hes always claiming hes changed and learned from his mistakes but its pretty evident from this that if he had been in a bar not cyberspace he would have glassed Didi. What an odious little prick the guy is.
Also you would think with all his ill deserved millions he might be able to afford someone to teach him some basic English. The cretin is practically illiterate.

Classic Old Trafford stitch up for the Hammers. Their player virtually carries the ball out of the area - nothing. Your player has the ball smacked at his hand from 2 yards - penalty.

Norwich is a good team and should avoid relegation.
