    Is Salah overrated?

Only by people who go bandying around the phrases 'world class' and 'Egyptian Maradona' I would say.

You seem to be missing the point that no one has ever said Salah's not a good player, its just that your vomit inducing fawning that he's the greatest player who has ever lived has turned you into a figure of fun.

For the record Salah is looking like possibly the shrewdest signing we have made in perhaps 15-20 years.* Now that's not saying a lot as we have consistently displayed staggering ineptitude in the transfer market: Bruno 'the new Zidane' Cheyrou, Jean-Michel Ferri, Antony Le Tallec, Bjorn Kvarme, Erik Mejier, Fabio Borini, Minger and Karius themselves - the list could fill a telephone directory.

However the key words in the above sentence are 'is looking like'. To be world class he needs to keep up his current scoring rate for about 3 seasons. Take Harry Kane - he has now been consistently scoring at an incredible rate for that long but is only just being talked about as possibly being world class. Also you need to win something. Salah has won bugger all (I'm not really counting coming on as a sub in enough games to qualify for a premier league medal when at Chelsea) and do something at a World Cup.

It's all there for him to go and become world class but your incessant adulation is very premature. If he keeps on scoring and we get top 4, CL QFs or better and win the FA Cup and he gets Egypt out of the group then he'll be heading in the right direction (that direction Real Madrid if today's transfer rumours are to be believed) but at the moment he's nothing more than a good player in an excellent run of form so maybe calm down a bit.

As an alleged Liverpool fan perhaps you might take more interest in how the club is doing as a whole rather than just Salah's goalscoring feats? I couldn't care less who scores as long as we score more than we concede every match. It's fantastic Salah is doing so well and I'm glad for you if thats enough to keep you happy but I'm more concerned about our other well documented frailties that mean (given we will likely drop points on sunday) we are barely hanging onto 4th and are a million miles from the top of the table and not even above Utd despite them playing utter shite and everyone slating them day in day out.

You can question my Liverpool credentials all you like but I, and I would suggest most fans who know what they're talking about, won't be happy till we are back on our perch, admittedly that means I'll probably never be happy but c'est la vie; I'm not ready to accept that we are now on a par with say Arsenal and downgrade my expectations accordingly. We are European royalty and whilst one of our players winning African player of the year is clearly enough to keep your trophy cabinet overflowing I couldn't give the slightest toss whilst we are still 18 points adrift and have the Chuckle Brothers fighting it out for number one in goal.

*With the obvious exception of Suarez who was on a different planet to anything Salah has delivered so far.

And playing bloody Iwobi again ,so we basically have 10 men.
The Chelsea side is nearly the full side...we will be lucky to even get a draw or lose 1-0.

This looks like a certain win for Chelsea, yes. Iwobi is out of form (Özil with a slight injury, by the way - again), and Wenger could just as well play Walcott there for that matter, if he is not playing Alexis. This confirms Sánchez to City, then?

Agree. I'm going to defend Coquelin a little bit. Sure, he's not the best player in the squad, but he's actually tried doing something when playing – more than what we've seen from Arsenal lately. Now, if the deal goes through, hopefully that opens the door for getting some quality to the midfield.

Well, he looked promising in his early Arsenal games, didn't he? But as with almost everyone at Arsenal, that doesn't last. Either they get injuries setting them back, or they just loose whatever quality they had when signing.

I can only bow to the extensive research you have clearly conducted by travelling around the globe and interviewing Liverpool fans in every country to find the ones who agree with you. Most of the ones I encounter are more worried by why we continue to tolerate a Massmio Taibi tribute act in goal.

Basic questions that have no bearing on whether Salah is world class or not you mean? But if it stops you frothing then fine:

I'd be very surprised. We're not Leeds Utd. I don't think you're going to get battered for holding up such a non contentious sign. If you held one up saying 'Mignolet is world class' you might be taking your life in your hands though.

Congratulations as that may well be true. A stopped clock and all that...

I'd love for you to tell me what it has to do with his footballing ability though and even more so Salah's?

Maradona took coke, George Best drank himself to death, Fat Ronaldo shagged some tranny prostitutes. They're all still footballing legends.

Gavin Peacock did none of the above and became a pastor. He's a footballing nobody.

I have no idea what Salah does in his private life but it makes no difference in the slightest to whether he's world class or not.

Did you know about these performances against Juve ?????

I bet he can't wait till he can bounce his grandson on his knee and tell him how he stopped Juve from winning the title a match early. Take note @jobo it's only truly world class players who turn up in one leg of a semi then lose the second leg 3-0 at home or delay a team from winning the title by a week.

Pele demolishing Sweden in the world cup final aged 17 is world class.

Maradona dragging bog average teams to world cups and Serie A titles is world class.

Zidane pinging a 30 yard volley in the top corner in the CL final is world class.

Scoring a brace in a semi final is average.

Good luck to Salah and lets hope for the lad he does turn out to be world class, although if you are a Liverpool fan you should really be hoping he only remains merely very good because if he is world class he'll be off pretty soon as we continue in our role as Barca's feeder club.

What chance is that? The league and FA cup are long gone and the Europa looks optimistic so even if you beat Chelsea over two legs here I really can't see you turning City (either Manchester or Bristol) over in the final.
