    Great win by Liverpool.

    Opta stats
Liverpool inflicted Manchester City's first Premier League defeat since last April against Chelsea, bringing an end to their 30-game unbeaten run.

Pep Guardiola has lost five matches against Jurgen Klopp in his managerial career, more than against any other manager.

This was Manchester City's first 4-3 defeat in the Premier League since they lost to Manchester United by that scoreline in September 2009.

Manchester City's run of 22 matches unbeaten from the start of the season can be bettered by only two teams in Premier League history - Arsenal in 2003-04 (38 games) and Man Utd in 2010/11 (24 games).

Mo Salah has scored 24 goals and assisted another seven in 30 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.

Congratulations to Liverpool on an emotional victory. But honestly, what I take from this game more than anything, was that the quality was pretty disappointing. There are great attacking players on both sides, but when you give them so much space and give away the ball in dangerous positions, you are asking for them to shine. It's great for the entertainment value of course, but the defending was just very far from top level.

Re your comment from the other day that Messi is the better player because defences are better organised these days - surely you're not suggesting Maradona wouldn't have filled his boots yesterday?

Maradona would have thrived yesterday for either team, no doubt! So would Messi.
In general though the defences are much stronger today than in the 80s. At least in important tournaments and cup ties. Even though the defence was sloppy yesterday, the tempo is incredible compared to clips from the 86 world cup. Just watch the clip I posted from the 86 quarter final and se how easily Maradona can slip past that English defender and then continue unchallenged in the build up to the goal. That would not be possible against most teams today.

Jesus don't start him off after we managed to enjoy the entire game without his relentless fanwankery.

Whilst Big Cyrille might not go down as the greatest player of all time, being brought up in the Midlands, be in no doubt that he was a legend.

Going into this match without United cover in my Fantasy team is crazy. A Stoke goal (or two) would really help, now.

This is the transfer story of this window. As an Arsenal fan, I really don't know how to feel about the whole thing. A Sánchez who wants to leave but still delivers, or the possibility of getting a player with the Sánchez money who isn't as good. Can't really win this, Arsenal – the money aside.

Two days ago I thought no chance Sanchez will go to United, though yesterday I heard it was a done deal on the United grape vine though with the media circus it's difficult to see any semblance of truth, I hope we get him he is a different attaching option to what we have.

Jose smiled a few times during the game which could be a tell lol

City have officially pulled out of signing Sanchez.

Looks like a done deal for Utd now.

Chelsea want him, "One of the Internet's more toxic individuals".

More like "One of the Internet's more RANTING individuals" :)

The ox has improved playing for a real club and Craig Burley on ESPNFC said that Robertson is 1 of the top 2-3 best crosses into the box in the EPL .

You thought them and Salah were rejects before the start of the season.
24 goals and assisted another seven in 30 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season. :)

Sanchez has waited so long to go to Man City, it’s nice that his dream is about to come true.

Just read this: «Mino Raiola, the agent of Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has confirmed Alexis Sanchez’s move to Old Trafford is dependent on the Armenian agreeing to join Arsenal.»

You have to feel for Mikhitarayan in this situation - being pretty much forced to move to Arsenal is a fate I would wish on no one. Does he even get a say in all this?

Priceless stuff here from safe hands himself:

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jan/16/liverpools-simon-mignolet-rotating-is-not-healthy-this-situation-cannot-last

    Is the guy for real?

I don't which is more ridiculous: the idea that he might be thinking about his future is some sort of veiled threat to Jurgen to put him back in the starting lineup or the notion that he's going to be anything other than benchwarmer at the World Cup.

The sooner you decide the situation is untenable and you have to leave the better son. If you could convince Karius to do the same all the better.

Well it’s got Manchester in the name, so that’s near enough for him.

From what I've read, he should. Have also been rumours of him going back to Dortmund – as well as that Aubameyang wants Mkhitaryan to join him at Arsenal. The only link between those two and Arsenal, is Sven Mislintat, so there's probably a lot of bullshit in those reports.

I see we have sold yet another key player to Derby. This is getting a little uncomfortable now. Could well be a cricket score against Chelsea tomorrow night! OTBC!!!

That seems like a strange move. Any players on the way to Norwich City?

Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho becomes the first player in the English game to be awarded a goal thanks to technology and the VAR system.

A real shame it wasn't Jamie VARdy scoring that goal. Headline writers would have had a field day.

Chelsea-Norwich just got VERY interesting. Norwich making i 1-1 three minutes into added time! Wow!

Chelsea robbed of a penalty there? Willian goes down in the box, but the ref gives a free-kick to Norwich. No usage of VAR in that situation. Ref sticks with his decision.
