Looks like someone has just lost his £1m a year job :

Jamie Carragher to have talks over Sky future after spitting at girl.

Jamie Carragher will hold talks with Sky Sports today after being caught on video spitting at a 14-year-old girl following Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United.

The football pundit apologised on Sunday evening for the incident via Twitter but a spokesperson for Sky reprimanded the former Liverpool defender, calling his actions “unacceptable”.
The incident, which was caught on a mobile phone and obtained by the Daily Mirror, came following the Saturday lunchtime match at Old Trafford, with Carragher embroiled in a tasteless episode while driving, ending with him winding down his window and spitting towards another car carrying a teenage girl.

The 14-year-old United supporter was in the passenger seat while her father was driving and talking to the former England defender about the game. When the driver repeatedly mentioned the score, Carragher is heard to say: “All right”, before spitting at the car alongside his. The incident, recorded by the girl’s father, ends with the daughter saying to her dad that Carragher’s spittle had hit her in the face.

In a tweet on Sunday night Carragher wrote: “Totally out of order & Iveapologised personally to all the family this evening. I was goaded 3/4 times along the motorway while being filmed & lost my rag. No excuse apologies.”
However, a spokesperson for the channel said: “It’s unacceptable behaviour and we will be addressing it with Jamie.”

The incident is undoubtedly an embarrassing episode for Sky Sports and will place pressure on the channel to make an example out of the 40-year-old. Carragher was due to front the Monday Night Football programme as Sky’s cameras travel to Stoke v Manchester City but much will depend on the outcome of Monday’s meetings
Carragher has been a mainstay of Sky Sports’ football coverage since he retired from the game in 2013, now earning an annual salary thought to be in excess of £1m.

£1m a year for spouting some badly researched and subjective opinions on television?? Jesus Christ! How ridiculous has this world become?

£1m???!! Let's not forget he covers Champions League at Viasat/Viasport, as well.

I hope he saved it all in a bank because spitting incidents at children do not go down well for a company's image.

He has to be sacked surely.

Was there a video of the incident?

So, was the father driving, talking to Carragher and recording everything on his mobile?

Sounds to me like his offense was a lot more worthy of investigation than Carragher's.

Just saw the clip. Such an unnecessary thing to do – from both, actually.

The story says that the girl was filming it. Anyway, regardless of how childish the behavior of the driver was, someone of Carragher's position should be able to rize above that. Talk about letting the provocateurs win!

Both acted like total idiots. The driver of course being chavy as hell and giving his daughter a terrible role model.

Carragher on the other hand should know better. I bet he has been provoked countless times on the pitch as a player, so why he loses his cool in this situation is beyond me.

How did he get angry so quick? Would figure current and former players hear this very often?

The sad thing is that the driver will feel like he has achieved something now. A short moment of gloating turned to be a lot more. He can go to the pub now boasting of how he got Carragher sacked from his job. Not a fitting reward for moronic behavior...

Jamie Carragher: Former Liverpool defender suspended by Sky Sports after 'spitting incident''

Jamie Carragher has been suspended by Sky Sports after a video showed the former England and Liverpool defender spitting towards a girl in a car from his own vehicle.

"Sky takes this matter extremely seriously and strongly condemns Jamie's actions," said a statement.

"We have made that clear to him in person today and suspended him from his duties.

"It falls well below the standards we expect of our people.

It had to happen,i don't think Sky had any choice.

I'm assuming the girl was a Utd fan so I'm not sure there is even a case to answer is there?

How are the pundits and commentators over in England? Do they hold a good quality level of punditry? Rarely see much of them, other than the odd clip on Youtube, or similar.

I think Sky's pundits and commentators are good, they have interesting points and are not scared of giving out opinions which might piss off a player or manager.
