It's "official". Karius suffered from a concussion during the Champions League Final.

    https://www.thisisanfield.com/2018/06/loris-karius-concussion-doctors-release-statement-on-scan-results/

I believe I may have suffered a concussion during the final also, as I banged my head against the wall in disbelief, twice.

Hahaha. And probably they will ask for 50m and your dozy board will pay it. There goes your transfer 'war chest' all in one hit!

I am not at all surprised if that pathetic board are willing to pay those 50m if needed! But spend 40-50m on a good defender or a keeper seems to be out of the question - every transfer window!

Brilliant. Not only have we got an inept keeper and an inept manager for not sorting the problem 3 windows ago but also an inept medical staff for not realising.

What does this change exactly? Did he have concussion in the semi when his limp wristed flailing jammily tipped the ball onto the bar when it could easily have gone in? Did he have concussion in the QF when he pathetically punched the ball out to a City player and was saved by the ref wrongly calling for an offside? Does he have concussion every week when he’s throwing goals in?

And why is this only coming 10 days after the match? This all seems a very convenient way to pretend there was a reason other than him being shit and to a) save the yanks from having to buy someone decent, b) get Jürgen out of having to brutally bin him, c) give him some possible resale value if we are planning to bin him.

Cut’s no ice for me whatsoever. Real still won the game and Liverpool still need a new keeper. I feel sorry for the lad, as I did at the time, but bottom line is he ain’t good enough to make it at the highest level. You can say that’s harsh but I’m not good enough to make it at the highest level either and no one seems to care about that do they? I have to live with it and so will he. Difference is he’s a millionaire for blagging it this long so he’s got less to be sad about.

I mentioned days ago that he may have suffered concussion after the elbow to the jaw by the RAT.

The Rat destroyed a magnificent sporting event with his 2 assualts on Salah and Karius which went unpunished by the incompetence of the refs and UEFA afterwards.

All Liverpool fans suffered from something after that disgraceful final and all blame goes to the RAT.

Wizzer, Didn't i tell you that Karryall may have suffered from concussion after the RAT ATTACK... FFS
    Sergio-Ramos-969252.jpg?r=1528126676360

That explains the 2 Horrendous Howlers i suppose. ?

Maybe he's not the worst GK EVER ?

Do you still think he's the worst GK ever or have you forgiven him after finding out about the concussion given to him by the RAT ?

Didn't i also say not having VAR may see a Final decided with wrong decisions, like the 1990 WC penalty for Germany (which you said was a penalty).

Well it happened to Liverpool because of the Lazy Bastards at UEFA for not using VAR for the CL final.

So Karius was suffering from concussion after Ramos punched his elbow against Karius' head. With a VAR this would not have gone unnoticed during the matc, as well as Ramos' fou on Salah. I rest my case.

Listen to yourself? 'The RAT'? Are you 5? Seriously you're frothing at the mouth son.

Also I'd be careful bandying the word 'assault' around in case his lawyers are watching.

I don't doubt that he fouled Salah (and was hoping he might injure him) and left his elbow in on Karius. That's what experienced defenders do all the time.

I love the rigorous scientific method you employ at evaluating players. Salah plays well for a few games and you immediately declare him the greatest player who has ever lived but Karius has consistently been shit for a good 18 months yet you are happy to let him off the hook because you think it proves your twisted logic that we were cheated out of the final.

Unlike you I don't decide a players worth on one game. Karius makes errors like that all the time and still needs replacing and will never make it at the highest level.

As regards this out of the blue diagnosis Kerim Bey once said 'This', (points to nose) 'is a good friend of mine and it tells me - something smells.'

I'm not saying the guy did't have concussion. If medical professionals are saying this then I am duty bound to believe them. It just seems a little curious that it has taken 10 days for this to be even mooted as a theory and furthermore why does he need to be evaluated in Boston? He was on his way to California on holiday. Is there literally no one in California at a good enough level to diagnose this?

Here's the statement from Doctor Ross Zafonte:

'On May 31, 2018 Mr Karius underwent a comprehensive examination by Dr Ross Zafonte and Dr Lenore Herget in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. After carefully reviewing game film and integrating a detailed history – including his reported present and immediate post-contact subjective symptoms – physical examination and objective metrics, we have concluded that Mr Karius sustained a concussion during the match 26 May 2018.

“At the time of our evaluation Mr Karius’s principal residual symptoms and objective signs suggested that visual spatial dysfunction existed and likely occurred immediately following the event. Additional symptomatic and objectively noted areas of dysfunction also persisted. It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance.

“We also note that Mr Karius has reported significant and steady improvement since the concussive event, and we expect him to make a full recovery based on the results of the examination. We expect that with treatment and by following prescribed activity protocols he will continue to improve. We have encouraged vigilance and an emphasis on safety in his eventual return to full activity.”

'his reported...symptoms', 'suggested', 'likely occurred', 'it could be possible'. Hardly definitive although you note he is quick to mention visual spatial dysfunction to explain why he couldn't see Benzema standing 2 feet in front of him.

Also, and I'm not suggesting any impropriety here, but I find what might be described as a curious coincidence on Dr Zafonte's CV:

    Zafonte, Ross, DO
Vice President of Medical Affairs, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
Clinical and Research Leader for Traumatic Brain Injury, Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program
Earle P. and Ida S. Charlton Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Harvard Medical School

Make of that what you will. Just seems a bit odd there were apparently no doctors in England or California that were suitably qualified. Some people with a cynical world view might suggest that JW Henry tapped up this doctor he knows and someone schooled Karius what to say in an attempt to protect an asset who, despite being awful, is still probably worth about £5m in the currently insane market. I, of course, could not possibly comment.

Just watched that footage about 5 times and still not sure if he got the ball or not. But why not go back to 54 when Puskas was ruled offside or Pele getting fouled out of the tournament in 66 too? You seem to think VAR will rectify every perceived injustice in the history of the game. I note you're not screaming for VAR for Salah being offside for Liverpool's first goal v City in the QF? Or the Sane goal that was ridiculously disallowed? Or Trent's handball on the line? Or how about the Luis Garcia goal in the 05 SF? Why not? It's justice you are after isn't it not something that only works in favour of Liverpool?

Even if the 'incompetent' refs and UEFA had brought in VAR for the match (although I'm not sure how VAR stops Karius being a shit keeper?) the absolute most you might have got is Ramos sent off for two yellows (that's assuming the VAR guy has the cojones to do this against Real as VAR is still just a bloke ultimately). Doesn't stop Kalamityus playing on and still throwing two goals in. Might mean we have a better chance of pulling ourselves back into it I suppose as they are down to 10 men.

There’s something lacking in the goalkeeping coach at Liverpool. Karius makes basic mistakes and has no hand strength, but Mignolet makes errors like that too. He made two mistakes like that against Arsenal before he got canned.

Karius is not a world class goal keeper for sure. I was rather surprised, when Liverpool actually bought him (and Klopp made him number one - is Mignolet even worse?). I mean, England has a lot of, well, medium talented goalies (Calamity James to name but one). The second blunder is one, that happend to other goalkeepers (former ManU goalie Ron Robert Zieler had a similar blunder for Stuttgart vs Hamburg). The first one is still strange, concussion or no concussion, I have never seen something comparable to this. Bizarrely in a German football forum a guy insinuated, that Karius' blunders were on purpose, i.e. he was bribed. I don't believe this. Anyway, Ramos is a m**********, and it's annoying he gets away with that dirty kind of football. But maybe some opponent at the World Cup will take care of him. At least the referees should have a closer look on his actions on the pitch. And I am looking forward to read wiz's expertises on England, Spain, Germany, etc. Seriously.

Stephan Lichtsteiner confirmed ready for Arsenal. Finally a guy who can cover for Bellerín when needed. Don't know what to expect, other than that he's been good in the matches I've seen him play for Juventus.

I think the goalkeeping coach might have a say in which goalkeeper they buy, after all he is the so called expert in goalkeeper's.

But as everyone knows Mig and Karius aren't good enough for Liverpool.

man u,chelsea, tottenham, arsenal all have great goal keeper's, i don't know why Klopp has persisted with the Mig and Karius for so long. Maybe the goal keeper scout is to blame for buying them ?

Ramos is a dirty RAT. He should be called the RAT as a nickname by everyone around the world.
How can the RAT assault 2 Liverpool players in a CL Final and not get punished is so unbelievable.

He's asking for even more trouble now.

    http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11835/11395856/sergio-ramos-hits-back-over-mohamed-salah-injury-he-grabbed-me-first

Sergio Ramos says Mohamed Salah could have played on in Liverpool's Champions League final defeat if he'd had an injection in his injured arm.

Real Madrid defender Ramos said Salah instigated the tussle between the players which led to the Egyptian forward leaving the game in tears during the first-half.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius also collided with Ramos and has subsequently been adjudged to have suffered concussion in the 3-1 defeat.

Egyptian lawyer Bassem Wahba launched a €1bn (£873m) lawsuit against Ramos, amid fears Salah may be unable to represent his national side in the 2018 World Cup.

"Bloody hell, they have given this Salah thing a lot of attention. I didn't want to speak because everything is magnified," Ramos told AS.

"I remember the play well: he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold. After that the goalkeeper said I dazed him with a clash.

"I spoke with Salah through messages, he was quite good. He could have played on if he got an injection for the second-half, I have done it sometimes but when Ramos does something like this, it sticks a little bit more.

"I don't know if it is because you are at Madrid for so long and win for so long that people look at it a different way.

"I am only missing Roberto Firmino saying he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him.".

Ramos, who met up with the Spain squad on Tuesday ahead of their World Cup campaign, went unpunished for his tangle with Salah during the match but more than 400,000 people signed a petition calling for UEFA action against him.

You’re just embarrassing yourself @001. At least Wiz has the good grace to accept shit happens and that it may not all be a giant conspiracy. I’ve told you before, this is why certain Liverpool fans give themselves a bad name. The sense of entitlement is staggering.

There’s a bizarre and misplaced sense of injustice simply because Salah had a great season. That’s not how it works,

Any sensible Liverpool fan wants this sweeping under the carpet as soon as possible - get a new keeper and move on. All this is doing is drawing attention to what turned into a woeful result and risks exacerbating a sitiation that you should be extinguishing asap. They aren’t giving you the CL trophy based on petitions and retrospective diagnoses.

You can call Ramos what you like, but believe it or not, he’s been doing this his entire career, it didn’t just begin against Liverpool, you ain’t that special, mate. Somebody should have been on him, giving him a dig now and again, but I’m not sure Klopp would even have considered that.

You need to get over it.

There’s nothing much to say here is there? Your own words humiliate you more than anything I could ever come up with. After being a joke for the whole season banging on about Salah you’ve now upgraded yourself into a total laughing stock as well with this rabid drivel.

What say we set up a separate ‘Football Thread For People With a Mental Age of Under 10’ for @001 to post in so the rest of us don’t have to put up with wading through his vapid garbage?

Well said. This is hardly Mexico 86 levels of injustice is it? One player got injured in a bog standard tussle (wasn’t even the arm the RAT was tugging that got injured so pure luck on his part that Salah couldn’t carry on) and another is alleged to have been injured in what looks from the footage to be an accidental coming together. Was there an elbow in there? Possibly but for all his repeated allegations of assault I think @001 would lose his areshole completely if he got a letter from the RAT’s lawyer and suddenly he found himself in court needing to prove intent.

What if Karius had been accidentally elbowed by one of his own players? Where would he turn then to try and make excuses for losing the game? Would he start calling Lovren a RAT because he gave Karius concussion?

These are the main reasons why we lost the game:
    1. No luck on the night – Salah injury, Karius having the worst game of his career (if you believe the concussion was a factor then that’s more bad luck), Bale hitting a worldy.
    2. Lack of experience in big matches when Real have been there and done it.
    3. A manager who is too naïve.
    4. Failure by everyone at the club – primarily the manager and board – to address the festering sore of the goalkeeping situation as a De Gea or a Courtois even if the RAT had decapitated them would still have put on a better show than gormless Karius.
    5. They have better players man for man – they bring on Bale we’ve got Solanke warming up.

But anyway nothing went for us on the night and that happens. What can you do about it? Apart from wailing like a toddler obviously that the evil RAT cost us. This really isn’t worth debating any further. I’d rather have a team full of RATs with shitloads of medals than nice guys who are losers.

"I am only missing Roberto Firmino saying he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him."

That’s quite funny to be fair. And Bobby was pretty poor so maybe there is some truth in it. What a dirty RAT he is, string him up.

I'm no doctor, but if Karius got a concussion, shouldn't he have felt the effects enough to address Liverpool's medical squad - with them possibly taking him off?

Why is there always a complete mentalist on this thread who is obsessed with an individual player? Who was the fella who turned every page into a Zlatan sex festival? Happier times.

‘Sex festival’ - nice Partridge reference there. Always good, amongst the outrageous lunacy we’ve seen recently, to bring this thread back to its roots!

I mean the RAT was diving in the penalty box when Liverpool scored a goal to get the goal disallowed.

Then he was diving in front of Mane and got a free kick.

Is that really how Football should be played in 2018.

He's as bad as the Trolls on this thread taking sniper shots. :)

Anything else you want to blame him for? The Holocaust perhaps? Maybe he was the guy in charge of checking the O-rings on Challenger or the bloke who controlled the bow doors on the Herald of Free Enterprise?

I think we’ve indulged your childness long enough now. It’s getting very tiresome so it’s about time you reined it in.

Banter is a big part of football, given. But this is still a Bond forum with rules we have to adhere to. There are proper football forums if you want to get personal with the insults.

    Thanks.

England looking in good shape going into the WC, being objective they look a decent second tier team, emphasis on team. England are on a upward curve and will get better though England's failing is often the mental aspect of tournament football. Though I think this side will fair better than Roy's bottlers.

Really sticking your neck out there old chap given it’s impossible to do worse!

But I’ve been surprised how not awful we’ve been over these two matches. First decent team we meet will still badly dismantle us though. But Belgium aside, when hopefully we are both already through, we shouldn’t meet anyone particulatly good till the QFs.

Poland the team to be wary of in last 16. Nothing to be terrified of but no mugs and on their day could easily roll us over.

Lol with England you never know, though it would be tough to do as bad as Roy's hapless bunch.

Didn't play the Euro one, but I guess it's much the same.
Put up a team earlier tonight. If anyone is interested in playing a mi6community league, that might be an idea!
