Ooh I say, that's rather good. 5 teams next term if the 'pool pull this off.

So, if Man City hadn't been so cack handed and won the CL, then been overtaken by ManYoo or West ham for 4th spot in the Prem, we would have had 6 teams in the CL next year. Who'd have thought?

No the UEFA cup (taking @Shark_of_Largo's lead and not having any truck with this Europa wank which demeans a respected trophy) is a bonus place.

If someone from outside the top 4 wins the CL then 4th miss out.

Not sure what happens if you win the UEFA and finish top 4. Is that bonus place forgotten or does it shunt to the 5th team?

Anyway I read that 5 is the absolute maximum allowed per country in the CL.

My mate who's a scum fan researched it all because he was sweating on finishing 4th and then having the unbearable situation of us and City winning and simultaneously depriving them of a place in the CL.

Next season will be interesting. Man City and Spurs will be good, Chelsea will return, Liverpool will be better, Arsenal will finish 4th (of course). Man U? Not so sure.
Leicester, if they spend well and maintain as much of the squad as they can should still be a reasonable force.
West Ham will take heart from a good season and the achievements of Leicester, and probably improve.

So, only one can win it, only 4 can qualify for the CL, and they still have to finish in a certain order. So, who will be the dominant force?

Watching the Leicester game, the Bocelli concert was a bit surreal.

Report just in: John Terry has been spotted outside the King Power stadium in full Leicester kit.

Love the fact he got sent off.

Incredible seeing Leicester lift the trophy today. Since Liverpool last won the title, Peter Schmeichel signed for United, won five titles (including the treble) and his son has now won a top flight title. Astonishing.

Feel totally privileged to witness such amazing scenes, its a miracle what Leicester have achieved. Moments like that make football great for me.

Absolutely. Hopefully a fitting final coda to the career of one of the most odious individuals in the English game. Just f**k off to some crass league in Dubai or somewhere.

Really hoping Arsenal can do City today. I know it runs the risk of the scum nicking 4th but given Sunderland will relegate Toon and Norwich by beating feeble Everton it would be nice if there could be something left to play for on the final day. 'Best league in the world' yet the final day is going to be a succession of meaningless friendlies at this rate.

He is indeed an odious turd. Given my inbuilt hatred of your lot it says a lot that I can't think of a single scouser I dislike more than him.

Can't see us getting fourth. West Ham in their final game at Upton Park (I refuse to call it the Boleyn) is a tough ask for a team as lacklustre as us. Plus, we wouldn't make it out of the group anyway.

It's in our hands, but that means nothing. We'll probably end up beating West Ham and then end up ballsing it up against Bournemouth. We need it psychologically and for prestige (financially we're well covered) but if old ball bag face is still in charge we're looking at a group stage exit, so it could be a largely pointless affair. I say that, we'll probably fail to qualify against FC. Ukrainian Market Town. Need a proper clearout.

    Blubbed through Bocelli.
    Tepidly applauded each Leicester goal.
Laughed when Vardy blasted his penalty into space.
Laughed again when the crowd sang 'He's taking the piss. He's taking the piss'
Blubbed when Claudio got his medal
Blubbed when Wes lifted the trophy.
Sat in stunned silence for the rest of the evening.

So, this is what it's like to see your team win the Premiership is it?

Great to see Leicester win the league. If it couldn't be Chelsea up there, then I'd rather see the likes of Leicester or Bournemouth take it.
Truly well deserved, only wish I could go back in time and put a bet on at 5000/1
    Who'd of thunk it.
As for John Terry, I know he's despised by many other fans, and clubs. But as a Chelsea fan he's given us 18 years and 483 loyal appearances. Would've been nice that he could play one last game at Stamford Bridge to end his career.

Never understood the hatred for Terry. Was it some kind of affair he had or something that turned everyone against him? I wish he would go to the Euros.

That is because John Terry (footballer, not TLD Felix Leiter) epitomizes everything that is unpleasant about Chelsea since the Abramovich years. I don't know him as a person, but as a footballer I'm no fan of his.

As pointed out previously, their 'match of the season' performance last week to get a draw (and no more) JUST to spite Spurs was a disgrace because it showed just how contemptuous of the league they have been all season.

Hazard decided to turn up because he knew the world (and his national team coach) was watching, and he celebrated as if he's been some kind of star all season...

If I was a Chelsea supporter I'd want every single one of those feckless bums sacked from the team and demand a total rebuild.

Cracking post which saved me the effort of typing out much the same.

A question for our English friends.

I'm writing an article about stereotyping in football. I need to know exactly when hooliganism more or less vanished from English football.

Was it before or after Euro 2000? Because I remember the authorities being terrified of the England-Germany when in fact nothing happened.

If hooliganism no longer plagued English football in that period, that is a fairly good example of stereotyping I can use.

    Thanks in advance.

I starting attending football matches from the mid-1990s, I've always had the impression that hooliganism was very much a thing in the '80s, culminating in Heysel and the banging of English teams from European competition. Although that's not to say, unfortunately, that in the intervening years that it's been eradicated completely.

I also think there's much more of a family vibe about football spectating - it's become more middle class I think since the advent of the Premier League and Sky's broadcasting of matches.

West Ham, innit? They're the work experience that appears to be doing a decent job until you invite them to work drinks and three pints in they're trying to flog you an England First badge.

    What a pathetic little club.

Overshadowed their own party by instigating the worst act of hooliganism seen for many a year and then had their weasely Sunday Sport peddling owner come out with a load of bullshit that it was Utd's fault for not coming early.

Then at the end we have to witness a laughable parade of 'legends' (Trevor Morley anyone??), 'iconic' moments (Di Canio's goal in a meaningless league match) and a Lidl Olympics opening ceremony that reminded me more of Partridge's Dante Fires presentation - 'Can I have a condensed Pink Floyd concert for £500? Puff flash, puff flash, bang.'

Here's an idea if you want to have a big celebration - why not win a trophy?

And the media endlessly banging on about it all week and the Skyperbole during the coverage was vomit inducing.

This is just a bog average midtable club who come below the likes of Wolves, Sunderland and Blackburn on the all time trophy list. Where was all this outpouring of media attention when Sunderland moved stadium (which, lets not forget, they had to finance themselves rather than being given it by the taxpayer)?

But we are told that they are special because of the 'West Ham way' which in their deluded minds is some sort of metaphor for liquid football like Holland used to play in the 70s but actually translates into casual racism and not winning anything since 1980.

Christ knows I despise Utd so it takes a lot to get me rooting for them but I really wanted them to spoil the party and nick the points last night.
