Mission Impossible 5
With "Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol" director Brad Bird confirmed to not be returning, McQuarrie's name became attached as a possible director for a fifth "Mission: Impossible" a few weeks ago. Paramount is reportedly very pleased with the work he has done on 'Reacher', and McQuarrie happily confirmed the talk albeit admitting it is extremely early days yet:
"We’ve just started talking about it. He [Tom Cruise] is very busy with 'All You Need is Kill', JJ [Abrams] is very busy with 'Star Trek Into Darkness', I’m busy promoting this movie. Obviously, I love working with him [Cruise] and would love to do it, it’s daunting in that I would have to follow Brad Bird… you know, the biggest movie of the genre. At the same time that’s kinda what I like about it, I like to come from a place of lowered expectation and I have to imagine that when they find out a filmmaker like me who feels, as someone put it earlier today 'street level'… between 'Way of the Gun' and 'Reacher' and movies like that, I have to imagine that when it becomes real that people’s expectations could not be any lower
you wish ... get your facts straight buddy :-)

Reasons that 'Skyfall' will do very well in China: All the reasons that made 'Skyfall' already big in all other markets. Plus the fact that the Bond film is set in Sjanghai. Better promotion you can't get.
Reasons that 'Skyfall' will do not so well in China: Compared to 'Mission: Impossible - Ghist Protocol', 'Skyfall' is less 'dumb entertainment' and really very much about modern day espionage. A subject the Chinese would rather put to the background. I think that's the main reason the premiere has been pushed back to next year. And then piracy will have some influence.
Still, considering the success of that other critically acclaimed Nolan-film, 'The Dark Knight Rises', I'd say $65 million is a good prediction.
By the way, this is what 'BoxOfficeMojo' is saying: "Skyfall's new foreign total is $623 million (a Bond record by nearly $200 million), and worldwide it's at $869 million. From its existing markets, it's going to easily get past $950 million, and it will be up to China to close the gap to $1 billion."
Is it the billion target that makes you so excited that you write for instance that Hancock did 15100 $ instead of 15100000 $ ? :)
It is said by some TDK was not released in China because it depicted Shanghai as a paradise for illegal trafic, it's quite a good news Skyfall should be released at all I guess.
So, if it's indeed released at the same time as The Hobbit, it may do only a third of its potential I'm afraid.
Which by my thinking will mean that SF will have 960/70M at the end of the year.
I don't know what to expect from Asia but if the movie does half as good as it did in USA SF might be #1 Bond movie at the box-office.
It seems Inception did reasonably well according to your list. That's arguably quite intelligent for a blockbuster, and is concerned with industrial espionage. SF is more about the human story, there was not much espionage from what I saw so hopefully we'll be ok.
About the success of Inception in China, don't forget it was released in almost optimal conditions : no other US blockbuster the same week, a Nicholas Cage movie the week after, and then four weeks with no more US competition. If China wants to make Skyfall fight with the Hobbit 3D, well use Inception as a measure of its potential, but not of how much it will do. Also don't forget 0M$ is still a possibility. Resident Evil Retribution 3D was also supposed to open in China after some delay, officials said. And yet still no date, but they won't easily say they censor it.
This is what I was implying. Sometimes dry humour doesn't translate so well.
Skyfall shoots back to the top of the UK box office
In its sixth week, Skyfall has returned to number one at the UK box office, preventing the climactic Twilight from recording a hat-trick at the top of the charts.
The latest Bond mission added $3.6m (£2.3m) through to Sony to stand at a mammoth $150.8m (£93.8m) to date. It is now on the brink of overtaking Avatar’s $149.6m (£94m) haul as the UK’s all-time biggest grosser, with Skyfall set to topple that record in the coming days, if not today.

Bond, like in the film, is coming back for more!
=D>
We'll see. Sometimes the viewing public loves stuff the critics aren't too fond of. I am very interested to see how this 48 frames per second looks on the big screen.
Apparently it's great 48 frames per second amazing quality. Well almost every box office follower believes it will smash a billion hype is huge pre sale tickets sales are of the charts. I can't understand how it can't be almost everyone i know loves the LOTR trilogy and is excited for the Hobbit and reviews mean nothing at the box office. The reviews are good but not as good as LOTR but they where bound to be worse as expectation was to high.
