It only proves some Bond films just didn't work - at all!
It'll eventually overtake 'Live And Let Die' as well, with inflation correction. But by jolly, these total figures for the foreign market are quite staggering. 'Skyfall' earned itself back in less than a week. For 'Quantum Of Solace' it took a little longer.:
Skyfall's already outgrossed Quantum of Solace's entire gross in a single week in the UK :D Not that far behind CR either.
http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/11/04/box-office-report-wreck-it-ralph-flight-skyfall/
This is a great result for a film that truly deserves the success...
Inflation applys to all films, so unless it overtakes it during it's box office run, Skyfall will always be behind it.
Unless you mean it'll take over $843,280,463.96 worldwide. That will be tough. This stunning performance would need to be maintained for a while but I am starting to think if any film can do it, Skyfall can. Plus we'll have Japan to come next month as well.
$ 59,182,873 --> final total gross of 'Die Another Day' in the UK
$ 14,294,312 --> opening weekend 'Die Another Day' in the UK
$105,932,056 --> final total gross of 'Casino Royale' in the UK
$ 25,328,602 --> opening weekend 'Casino Royale' in the UK
$ 80,805,643 --> final total gross of 'Quantum Of Solace' in the UK
$ 25,309,345 --> opening weekend for 'Quantum Of Solace' in the UK
$ 89,973,208 --> final total gross of 'The Dark Knight Rises' in the UK
$ 22,439,915 --> opening weekend for 'The Dark Knight Rises' in the UK
$ 85,800,000 --> total gross so far (9 days counted) of 'Skyfall' in the UK
$ 32,400,000 --> opening weekend for 'Skyfall' in the UK
I off course meant: Globally 'Skyfall' will earn more than the inflation corrected gross from 'Live And Let Die'.
Concerning the UK. 'Skyfall' fell with only 21% (!!) in its second weekend. And it starts to look like 'Skyfall' will have similar Thunderball-esque grosses across the ocean. If it does, 'Skyfall' is on its way to beat the total global grosses of 'Tomorrow Never Dies' in an unprecedented short 2.5 weeks:
One week ago imdb claimed that the budget was 200.000.000 $ and now it states that it is 150.000.000 $
As for this weekend’s Skyfall openings internationally:
- GERMANY $23.9M, biggest opening of 2012, +77% larger than Quantum Of Solace‘s and +88% bigger than Casino Royale‘s.
- ITALY $7.9M for biggest opening of a Hollywood film in 2012 and the 2nd biggest overall. It beat Quantum Of Solace opening by +95% and Casino Royale‘s by +85%.
- SPAIN $6.7 for 2nd biggest opening of the year, and +27% bigger than the opening of Quantum Of Solace and +73% more than Casino Royale‘s.
- SWITZERLAND $5.3M, record-setting as biggest opening in history there, breaking Quantum Of Solace’s old record.
- HOLLAND $4.4M, by far the biggest opening of the year there, almost 2½ times the previous best. The opening was +91% bigger than Quantum Of Solace‘s, +179% more than Casino Royale‘s.
- AUSTRIA $3.4M, more than double the previous biggest opening of 2012 and 2nd biggest of all time.
MEXICO $3.2M, INDIA $5.1M, INDONESIA $2.5M, MALAYSIA $2.5M, TAIWAN $2.5M, SINGAPORE $2.3M, PHILIPPINES $1.9M, HONG KONG $1.9M, THAILAND $1.8M.
The overseas records are a great indicator of how the Sam Mendes-directed pic will do at the North American box office. Hollywood expects this installment to top both 2008′s Quantum Of Solace which went on to gross $586M (£367.4M) worldwide and 2006′s Casino Royale which grossed $594.2M (£372.5M) making it the highest-grossing film in the Bond franchise (not adjusted for inflation or higher ticket prices). That includes the U.S., where all-in guesstimates top $215M – much better than Quantum Of Solace‘s $168.3M or Casino Royale’s $167.4M. Even better for the studios and filmmakers, Skyfall cost much less than both other films. Grammy multi-winner Adele sang the Bond theme. Daniel Craig reprises his role as 007, with Javier Bardem playing the villain Raoul Silva, and Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe as Bond girls. Mendes was the first Oscar-winner to direct a Bond pic. Meanwhile, Sony, MGM, and Eon are so pleased with Skyfall that its screenwriter John Logan already is writing the next two installments, Bond 24 and 25.

The film cost $135 million. One third, $45 million, was covered by product placement.
It's more or less the same production budget as for 'Quantum Of Solace': $200 million in total, including product placement. Though 'Skyfall' has earned one of its biggest product placement deals with Heineken.
Skyfall also received £20m in UK tax breaks due to the enormous amount of filming in and around the UK.

How do you know the budget details? Do you know How much has Sony spent in prints and ads?
This is getting big! It's like a tornado - a whirlwind success if ever there was one... I really hope it continues its success. Canada should do us proud, and the U.S. seems to be getting excited for it as well. I don't want to tempt fate, but I never thought that Skyfall would be mentioned positively in the same sentence as "TDKR", "Avengers Assemble", "Harry Potter" etc. etc.
Lets get a chant going: SKYFALL! SKYFALL! SKYFALL!
EDIT: So proud Mendes was born in my county! (Berkshire!)
Cheers. Title and first comment updated.
This is an interesting set of stats from which we can guesstimate that SKYFALL will take 4x its opening weekend, so it looks set to do ~$130m in the UK alone. That would be mindblowing.
The movie, which stars Daniel Craig as 007, becomes the fastest film in British history to reach $80 million.

SF is doing so well, I'm almost certain it will bring home many dollars too. Could this one end up above Royale's impressive results?
At this rate, I would say almost definitely. I can see it heading towards $800m, if not further...
@maxcraig. According to premiere the film has sold 3 621 994 tickets. Where did you get the 4,200,000 from? 3,621,994 is still an amazing achievment in 10days!

The film's already doing better than Avatar in the UK over the same number of days. I think we can safely assume this is going to be the biggest Bond BY FAR.
