Connery was contracted to play Bond one more time after TB. If they had done OHMSS then he would have done it. Doubt it would have changed his tune about leaving the role. Yes he would lose the Japan media, but would have gained a lengthy shoot in snow and mountains. Not sure which is worse.

Fewer paparazzi and prying press in the mountains, so Japan was worse. A couple months at Piz Gloria might actually have been soothing. It would have been interesting to see how Peter Hunt and Connery would have interacted.

But Hunt wasn’t slated to direct the fifth film. Was Lewis Gilbert always in the frame, or did Terence Young or Guy Hamilton turn it down?
The thought of Young directing Connery in OHMSS. Wow!
    Now there’s a thought. ;)

Did someone here say that they didn't like Diana Rigg's casting?

Not sure about that. I know just like the casting of Bond they saw many actresses for the role. They wanted someone with acting chops to compensate for Lazenby's lack of acting experience.

I like Diana's portrayal of Tracey. To me she plays it perfectly. The tough veneer hiding a fragile lady. Her arc is rather interesting for a Bond "girl".

This has probably been answered before but what was Bond gonna do in the space shuttle had Blofeld not catch him? Was he gonna sacrifice himself? Was he gonna try and drive the shuttle elsewhere?

Dame Diana is the best character in the film !!

I always think it odd that Diana Rigg was considered such a catch for OHMSS. She was a total unknown when she got The Avengers. A bit of RSC work, but nothing much.
And The Avengers was, if we are honest, a bit of hokum. Not exactly Shakespeare.

So, OHMSS was every bit as important for her career as it was Lazenby's. Just as much her big break.

Avenger girl Honor Blackman had a much more lucrative career prior to her Bond film.

Diana was great in OHMSS, I won't deny that and Cubby has said her experience was important, but what exactly was he drawing on to come to that conclusion? Emma Peel?

She had done quite a bit of theatre and TV work way before OHMSS,Nackers,I think he meant that.

At the end of TMWTGG when Bond dropped his gun down the scaffold did he go climb down the scaffold to get? Or was it the mannequins gun he killed scaramanga with? Also if it was the latter why would Scaramanga's mannequin have a loaded gun?

I've often wondered this myself. At first I thought it would be silly if the mannequin had a loaded gun. There's nothing to suggest that Bond climbed down into the darkness to retrieve his gun. So the mannequin's gun being loaded makes sense. Especially as the fun house was a training arena for Scaramanga, and of course his prey.

That's the only situation I can think off as well,a bit of a cop-out though.

So this question came to me yesterday as I was reading the Diamonds Are Forever wiki page. So we all know the diamonds Bond gave Shady Tree were fake and that Q was coming to Vegas to give Bond the real diamonds. Now Bond sets up an exchange for Tiffany to receive the diamonds at the casino which she gets through a Teddy bear. Now Plenty O'Tool ends up getting killed cause the people who killed her thought she was Tiffany. The people who killed Plenty got the diamonds which we saw being given to Burt Saxbee through the Teddy Bear at the airport. My question is Was it Tiffany who put the bear in the airport locker? or was it Q or Bond? Whats confusing is is that when Tiffany confronts Bond at her Vegas home she makes it sound like she never received the diamonds with her line "waiting at a blackjack table for those non existing diamonds". If it was Tiffany that put the bear in the locker how can the men who killed Plenty mistook her for Tiffany? Wouldn't have Tiffany been watched and followed from the airport? So they could kill her at her home?

Just thought some people could shed some light on this topic. Thanks!

Tiffany lies to Bond, pretending she never received the diamonds. It wasn't Bond who put the stuffed dog in the locker, because he asked Tiffany where it was. The scene then cuts to the airport locker, so it appears to be Tiffany who put them there. I'm guessing she managed to not be tailed from the airport. Plenty is killed for being a possible link or even just being there (just tying up loose ends, and literally). Tiffany would have copped it next, but was not at home.

What are you on to, exactly? Seems to be the same information regarding that scene that's been mentioned since 2012.

@Creasy47 read the hollywood reporter very carefully under a microscope I think they might have pulled a brofeld with bond or if they didn't it was awfully close im getting panicky either its bond pretending to get out of the situation and isn't bisexual written for skyfall or Bond isn't pretending and using it for the first time ive either just discovered a nightmare or dangerously close to being one. yeah the Bond character isn't gay but that doesn't mean they didn't change it on film like blofeld this is very worrying bond isn't gay on screen but they might have gave him a bisexual backstory did Mendes screwup the franchise twice and we didn't realize it? https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/james-bond-gay-flirtation-parental-386864 Bisexual Bond and Brofeld? read the this very carefully " there is a wink-wink, arched-eyebrow exchange between the two, in which Bardem slowly unbuttons Craig's shirt and the famously libidinous agent smiles as he hints at maybe having had previous experience in same-sex carnal relations. It would seem a first for 007, but Logan doesn't think it's much of a stretch.

"Some people claim it’s because I’m, in fact, gay but not true at all," Logan told The Hollywood Reporter at the NYC premiere of the film, thrown by Tribeca Film Institute. "Sam and I were discussing, there were so many scenes where Bond goes mano-a-mano with the villain, whether it’s Dr. No or Goldfinger or whatever, and there’s been so many ways to do a cat-and-mouse and intimidate Bond, and we thought, what would truly make the audience uncomfortable is sexual intimidation; playing the sort of homoerotic card that is sort of always there subtextually with characters like Scaramanga in Man With the Golden Gun or Dr. No. So we just decided that we should play the card and enjoy it."

Whether the homoeroticism is a new card or a jack tucked under his tuxedo sleeve,"

Yep, and some of the press at the time reported that Craig Bond was a crybaby who slept with men. You got to love the press.

You seem to have quite the obsession with that sequence and what you think it means, but you're simply overlooking a playful quip. That's all it is. There's no hidden motive or easter eggs you'll be finding in interviews.

@Creasy47 so your opinion is silva is pretending to be gay and bond is playing along?

I didn’t address it because I didn’t want to feed the ridiculous obsession. Let it go.

@Birdleson I wouldn't an issue if they didn't screw up the character i can have an opinion to at least look into more and try to understand it.

That's not my opinion - it's what happened. Bond is obviously playing along - whether Silva's bisexual or simply playing along, too, is another matter, but wholly irrelevant to the question of Bond. We know neither character is gay.

@Creasy47 so its not a Brofeld situation with Bond where they rewrote some backstory of Bond's character so im taking it literally because im a literal thinker so its hard for me to understand you see

Q is gay as we know. It was Bond he was spying on in the shower, not Stacy. Snooper was probably built as a gaybot, too.
