Small question I remembered during our longer discussion about CR over in controversial opinions:
Was Mollaka supposed to perpetrate the Miami attack or was his job just to build a bomb? For years, I thought that he was supposed to do the attack and Carlos was only a last minute replacement, but on a recent viewing I realized that that doesn't make all that much sense. I think the thing that threw me was that Dimitrios sent him the ELLIPSIS text, which of course turns out to be the door code at Miami airport. Why would he need that if he was never supposed to go near Miami airport?

Mollaka was supposed to be at the airport. Remember Le Chiffre and Dimitrios' exchange on the yacht:

Dimitrios: "I'm having a hard time seeing how this is my fault. It's your plan. All I did was get you the man."

Le Chiffre: "A man who was under surveillance by the British Secret Service. Which makes me wonder if I can trust you at all."

    and

Dimitrios: "I have someone else willing to do the job."

QBranch is correct. My assumption was the bomb found by Bond in Mollaka’s backpack was for a different job. As he is a bomb maker.

Oh right. So I understood it correctly in the first place. Thank you!

When I typed the question this morning I had completely forgotten about the conversation between Dimitrios and Le Chiffre.

Now I am struggling to remember what made me change my mind and assume that Mollaka wasn't supposed to be involved in the final attack. The mind is a strange place.

I kind of like that it's another example of pretty much everyone in CR being bad at their job :D

Is Krest an employee of Sanchez? Because he treats him like one, but then Krest is actually paying Sanchez for the drugs in an exchange like he's a customer who doesn't trust him. I guess it's just a sort of partnership where Sanchez is the dominant partner?
Just seems a bit odd when he wanders in and takes over the Wavekrest like it's already his when really Krest is a customer of his.

    Some Danish book cover questions...

The book on the left is obviously The Man With the Golden Gun, but what's the one on the right? I'm guessing Thunderball, based on the little trident the girl's holding. Google translates the title as "Strictly Confidential".

Question 2: The book on the right is obviously You Only Live Twice, but what about the one on the left? The sniper rifle suggests "The Living Daylights." Google translates the title as "100,000 is Bid."

EDIT: Someone on Facebook has revealed that the first mystery book is For Your Eyes Only, and the second is Octopussy and the Living Daylights (and "Property of a Lady," which explains the "100,000 Bid" title) . I'll leave this post up since the book covers are probably new to most of us.

I thought that was a cool new Sean photo Id never seen for Thunderball, but the TLD one makes it clear it’s just his head stuck on someone else’s body! :)
I thought it was OHMSS for a second as it looks like he’s got a wedding ring on! :D

In Casino Royale, just how long does Bond spend recovering from torture, in the swish rehabilitation retreat? And subsequently he and Vesper fall in love?

Presumably we are looking at period of several months, but the film never makes it clear. Clearly if thats the case, Quantum are playing the long game in getting the money back.

Rewatched QOS for first time in a while and had a few Q.

What is the connection between marked bills, mr slate and le cheffire? Which money of his was marked?

What happening with Camille and the geologist. I gathered that Greene hired a guy to ask different people in his org to sell secrets to him and then I guess kill them if they tried to. But then who is the guy in the water?

That was not my impression at all. The way I see it : the geologist has secrets to sell to Camille. He contacts her. But Greene learns about it, and has him killed. Which means that the geologist is the one in the water. Then, he tries to have Camille killed, first by hiring a guy Bond kills, then by offering her to Medrano (but once again, Bond interferes).

    Another CR question:
Does Bond just leave Dryden's body in is office for the cleaners to find?

From the first establishing shot, it doesn't really seem like the building the office is in is the embassy (which would explain the complete lack of security) and there is a Universal Exports folder in the drawer from which Dryden pulls his gun. So I would assume Dryden has non-official cover? Does that allow Bond to just leave the body there and everyone local (i.e. police) just takes this as some kind of organized crime business? Would MI6 want Czech police to look into their cover company like that? Or does Bond drag the body into those elevators and dumps it somewhere else? Or is all of this supposed to be a very, very clear message to everyone involved in (British) intelligence? "You fuck with M, this is what happens!"

@ImpertinentGoon As it is an officially sanctioned MI6 operation, I imagine there is a clean up squad.

I dont think it is ever explicitly mentioned, but I like to think it is a bit like In the John Wick movies, where a small team come in and tidy up the scene.

They'll probably have to put a new window in too! What a faff. Couldn't you have shot him against the wall, James?!

Well, you know what people say about making a mess for cleaners to tidy up: "It'll give them a job." ;)

There's a fantastic German TV series about a guy who cleans crime scenes (apparently it goes by Crime Scene Cleaner in english-speaking countries) and the weird situations that arise out of this bloke walking into places where people died only a short while ago. Apparently the BBC has just commissioned a UK version with Greg Davies. Would love a Bond crossover of some sort.

Any scenes from a Bond film that made you really cringe/embarrassed to be a Bond fan?

I'm far from a prude, but Jinx' "Now there's a mouthful", and the looking down towards Brozza's flesh cigar does not belong. Bond films should show a bit more class than that.

When Bond is waiting for Dent, why is he so undecided about wether he should wear a tie or not? And why are his socks sliding up and down?

I find the discussion of the word "oratory" in TSWLM terrifically embarrassing.

Pierce crying over Electra on a TV screen is maybe the only actually cringey moment I can think of.
