Many so confuse he/she with the main love interest played by Carol Boquet.

I don't know anyone who does that. It's also insignificant because she isn't a Bond girl, merely an extra.

Would Bond the ruthless agent sleep with a man in the service of Queen and Country? If he had to he'd pop a viagra and plough ahead. Should the films ever show him doing so? Absolutely not.

I'm sure Bond would thrust forward and rise to the challenge, even
Lick him into shape, with his big bang theory ? ;)

You might not know anyone but it was a very common misconception at the time. http://www.universalexports.net/00Tula.shtml

    Tula: The Transexual Bond Girl

    "The Urban Legend:
Over the years, one of the most hotly debated rumors of the series was that of the Bond girl who was once a man. This urban legend is actually true, as For Your Eyes Only's Caroline Cossey was actually born Barry Kenneth Cossey: a man. However, over the years the truth has become distorted. When discussed, people often assume that the Bond girl in question is the main love interest of the movie: Melina Havelock, played by Carol Boquet. In reality, Caroline, along with around 10 other actresses, played one of the girls in the background at the pool inside Loque's mansion"

    Congratulations for not knowing anyone.

How come Blofeld doesn't initially recognize Bond in OHMSS? And vice versa? They met previously in YOLT.

Blofeld is one of the great continuity errors in the franchise.
But that's ok I think because up to DAF the movies were really stand alone movies with no recognisable links.

The Bond movies have worked best as stand-alone movies, where Leiter or Blofeld get recast very often or there is a different M or Moneypenny without explanation.

To link the movies is very unfortunate when not done properly which can be seen perfectly with the current movies.

This question had been brought up in this thread. Basically Peter Hunt was dead-set on following the novel OHMSS and he was faithful to a fault. In the novel of OHMSS Blofeld and Bond had never met before whereas in the films they had met in YOLT.

I remember someone bringing up the possibility that Blofeld did in fact recognize Bond but was playing dumb to see what he could learn from Bond. But that was never so much as even alluded to so it's at best just a fun little theory.

Interestingly it was discussed by the filmmakers to include a scene in the PTS of Bond undergoing facial surgery thus explaining the change in his appearance.

OMG, that would have been so terrible, I remember when seeing Dynasty in the late 80's that they recast Steven Carrington and went to great length to explain it with a horrible accident on an oil rig and plastic surgery :)) later when Fallon Carrington was recast too they didn't even bother to give any explanation :P

Yeah I wasn't a fan of that idea either. And seemingly neither were the filmmakers. But imagine had they gone thru with it. They would've really wrote themselves into a corner by the next film with Connery returning. I guess Bond would've gone under the knife again. And then again for LALD, and again for TLD, and….well you see my point.

Or maybe they would've just opened up the PTS for DAF with Connery's Bond waking up in a cold sweat and OHMSS all being just a dream.

:) Patrick Duffy would be proud. Could have used that trick after Quantum too. (Joking... I don't mind it). Seriously, you guys are good. Crushed that question.

Or imagine at the end of Spectre:

James wakes up in the morning hearing someone showering...
...in the bathroom he sees a female silhouette through the shower curtain.
Vesper turns around: Good morning, darling. Good sleep?

It turns out everything after the hospital in CR was only a bad very long dream.

Of course they would have to do CGI on Craig's face to make him young again... :))

Ok, Ok, I'll stop now..... <:-P

I have a very complicated and twisty theory that explains Blofeld doesn't recognize Bond in OHMSS, but it's just a personal fan theory to satisfy my need for creating continuity between Bond films. :p

The Blofeld in YOLT is a decoy who oversees the SPECTRE Japanese lair. He looks like the real Blofeld though who is the one seen in OHMSS/FYEO.

Henderson is a SPECTRE agent who has his death faked when Bond arrives to his home and takes over as head Decoy during the events of DAF, But the leads to my next theory that DAF is a direct Sequel to YOLT as the first scene takes place in Japan.(vague I know but I'm crazy like that.) Bond suspects Henderson (posing as Blofeld) is the genuine article and kills his doubles and Henderson for good. Which leads to OHMSS and finally Blofeld's end in FYEO.

That's the short and sweet version and my personal theory to tie everything up. :P

And then Bond 25 (Craig's last film on his contract) could just be Bond and Vesper's vacation.

It perfectly makes sense, though. Do you mind if I "adpot" it? :)

They did that in the Pink Panther movies as well to explain the recasting of Clouseau after Peter Seller's saddening death.

I think it's no different from how nobody at the Daily Planet can tell Clark Kent is Superman. The disguise is supposed to be more convincing to the person they are speaking with, however obvious it is to the audience.

@SirHilaryBray, while it may have been a big deal at the time, it doesn't negate the fact that I don't personally know anyone who made that mistake. Never said it didn't happen, though, nor am I sure why you thought I said that.

Wasn t it DAF that was a dream, Moore having dreamt that he was Connery and waking up in LALD?

There is a whole thread dedicated to this fantastic theory.

The more important question is why doesn't the cat recognize Bond.

Bond guesses he has four million euros in the briefcase when he first meets Severine, and she says "not bad," as if he is correct. Is this stated somewhere else and I missed it, or is this really a correct assumption he makes from peaking inside the briefcase for two seconds? I could bump this thread all day with questions that SF puts in my head.

I don't see where this question has been answered, but my thought here has always been "Not bad" = "That's quite a lot of money"

She's just impressed at the amount; I don't think she's commenting on the accuracy of Bond's guess, just commenting on the fact that 4MM euros is a lot of money.
