Loved LOTR all 3 films, but this was not in the same league.
Think it was aimed at a younger family audience. Does keep you entertained for the duration. And hoping that the next one is darker than the first.
10/10
What film are you talking about?
I would guess he means life of Pi
This film was a complete let down. It wasn't horrible but it was just slow when the previews made it seem like it had more action than it did. The last hour was good and the last thirty minutes was more what I was expecting. If they would of made this movie more at about an hour and fourty-five minutes, instead of two and a half hours, it would of been better.
It's about a decade long search. Good look on that ever happening.
If I'm being honest, I probably never would have went to the theater to see this if Arnold wasn't in it. The film itself isn't bad but at best it is a one time rental. Arnold was, of course, awesome but you can tell he's getting older with his role in the movie.
Hitch 'Didn't I already make that? It's called North by NorthWest'.
Based on the making of Psycho it charts not only the making of the film but the strains on Hitch and Alma's relationship.
Bookended with a piece to camera, a la the tv series I really enjoyed this film, made without the modern malaise of fast-cuts and flashy editing it's nice to watch a 'traditional' film.
I see this thread hasn't been used much lately, so I figured I'd revive it by stating that I saw 'Oblivion' tonight, and wow, what a thrilling ride. Not once did I feel like I was watching something unrealistic, and all of the sci-fi elements were so enjoyable to watch. I expected some 'great' action because of a review, but while I was a little let down in that department, the story just gets better and better until that thrilling climax. For sci-fi fans, it's a must-see.
Solid actioner with a couple of neat scenes and even some powerful moments and a decent leading performance from Gerard Butler but has some really dodgy SFX and literally rips off some scenes from Die Hard which brought it down a notch or two for me.
I got an e-mail from a friend today and he told me that I have to see it.
Just go read Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn.
9/10
I saw that last night as well. It was such a great film. To be honest I'm happy it wasn't heavy on the action, I feel it would have taken away the Sci-Fi somehow. It's one I will own on Blu-Ray.
Oblivion gets 10/10 from me!
It feels too done before.
Evil Dead 2013: Reviewed elsewhere but if you can enjoy a smart little, full gore, horror schocker, that pays homage and I think improves on the Raimi original, check this out. Not for the faint of heart though. Think Linda Blair Exorcist on steroids. 5/5 stars
The legendary Bruce Campbell, a Sam Raimi favourite, makes brief appearances in both of the above films
??? I saw Evil Dead 2013 (it was awesome) but I don't recall seeing Bruce Campbell at all and I was looking for him. What part of the film was he in and who was he?
Hang to the end for your next viewing then. This movie is so good it's worth two cinema views I think. I like counting the people that walk out.
Great thing about Evil Dead, both versions, is that once the mayhem really kicks-in, after the slow build, it's simply relentless, which is about when people walk out, when they realize that this is what the movie has been building to, and they can't take it. So off they go.
Got nothing against the actors, or the acting, but the storyline is rather weak.
There are some inexplicable holes in it that just can't be overlooked.
lol When I went to see it, a couple that was about 50 years old was in the theater. They ended up leaving about fourty minutes into it, and that's after they paid $20 for tickets and some more $$ for a meal and drinks. I couldn't help but laugh.
I'm guessing the girls decided it was time to go. But I could be wrong of course. Don't want to generalize, but I personally know a few girls that would not sit through Evil Dead, once it got ramped up.
