Holy crap that’s cool!
@Agent007391 you mean alec trevelyan not sean bean
Let's be honest, they've both died enough to basically be the same person.
Lifted from the official Facebook page.
Fair enough it’s a shame that we have to have fan made games (and play though games we never played through) in order to get decent bond games...
Heck I know world of espionage sucks but can’t Glu at least put out a good mobile bond game I still play the mobile version of Injustice gods among us more so then any other game to be honest (what can I say it’s addicting and I am getting closer to having a few special charters and rank 7 which then I can hopefully unlock it to rank 10 but I digress)
Again how the Bond video game liscence is just wasted away is insane to me I would of been fine with those 007 solstice rumors (which in my honest belief I think telltale really was working on the game but due to the studio realizing that it was going bankrupt and wouldn’t be able to complete the game they just left it alone)
Well E3 is a few months away so here is hoping that with the new film a new developer is coming on
World of Espionage tanked, and that demonstrated that people don't want a non-shooter Bond game. Because, let's face it, GoldenEye 007 made the Bond video game franchise what it is. So, I expect the next official Bond game to be a shooter itself. Not an interactive playable movie, which I personally despise.
I wouldn't bet on getting a Bond game on the commercial front anytime soon. Not until we truly can get into a new era that's compatible with the video game format. The Brosnan era, for example, was perfectly compatible with the video game format. The Craig era, however, proved to be not.
Well said. That being said, Dynamite Comics could make great storylines for the future Bond games.
I wish that they would do Goldfinger 64 as well.
Ok can you pm me and tell me how to do it I have Goldeneye for America I have Goldfinger 64 files I have the Goldeneye editor I know I have to combine the three but no idea howe
That is fantastic!
Who is dr. Doak? I didn't play the original on the n64
@007Blofeld Dr David Doak was a developer of the original GE N64 and was also an npc in the game. In the Facility level you had to find him and obtain a door decoder gadget from him. The same character will now be in the fan remake, and modeled after him (in greater modern detail of course).
@ClarkDevlin ok that is really cool
By the way, Spanish speakers can find the making-of vids subtitles over here:
It seems so. While the games weren't the best, at least between 2008 and 2012, we got a few games to not only keep us occupied, but the keep Bond in the eye of a different audience. It worries me for the future without anything Bond related for this long. The franchise needs not just hardcore fans, but casual fans as well. I personally got into Bond through Agent Under Fire and Nightfire. I know several people with similar stories. Maybe if the Xbox Live on Switch rumor becomes true, we can get that Goldeneye XBLA port finally. Oh well, back to my 473rd playthrough of Everything or Nothing :)
You’re absolutely right in your concerns. It was GE N64 and AUF that got me into Bond. Video games are a bigger part of pop culture than ever before and have surpassed the film industry in revenue, and yet EON is turning a blind eye. They’re literally ignoring an industry that has surpassed their own in profits; an industry in which one of their older entries is regarded as sacred (Goldeneye); an industry that has proven essential in engaging the next generation of fans (hardcore and casual). The only reason some of the most recent Bond games failed is because they weren’t given the time, money, care, or attention they needed. EON needs to start taking the gaming industry as the serious business it is.
all of which you said i agree with - HOWEVER - it might not be EON's fault here... EON are owners of the rights and license (through Danjaq and all that other crap too obviously).. but bottom line, they may be all for more Bond games.. but.. they have to find the right developer - not only one they feel comfortable with, who will do the Bond brand justice - but also a developer WHO ACTUALLY WANTS IT lol... yes we had rumors about the president of Telltale wanting to do a Bond game - but they no longer exist as a company, so i am glad nothing went to them... bottom line, to the rest of the industry, the Bond video game property might not be seen as we fans see it... the last 3 games that were released all under-performed the previous one before it - and yes, we can sit back and say it was mismanaged and poorly handled and blah blah blah - but to another studio exec, all they care about is that bottom line - and they'll view that as waning interest in the property - and pass on it, deeming it not worth the risk...
i believe it's going to take a 2nd tier studio, someone larger than a small indy company, but not AAA to take a chance on it - and do something different and unique.. like how Rocksteady came out of nowhere with Arkham Asylum.. that is what Bond is going to need.... and like i said in previous posts for years, i think staying away from movie tie ins is the best route to go... ideally, i would prefer the games to have their own timeline (based off of some of the continuation novels from Gardner, Benson and etc) - but - if they still did it in a way like Everything or Nothing, or Blood Stone - still using the current Bond actor at the time, but fitting these in as side adventures in between the movies - and only loosely connecting them - thats fine.. but they should be there own thing - we don't need anymore QOS the videogame, or SF the videogame.... i understand it helps to have that promotional tie-in, but if you create a strong game that stands on it's own, you won't need to..
Activision failed. EA was great but they're out of the licensed business. A while ago I wanted Ubisoft but they probably have enough franchises to worry about. I'd be very happy with a smaller publisher. I know someone suggested Capcom a few years back. Hell, maybe Microsoft buys the rights and has Rare make another game. Even though they're not the same team, that would certainly make headlines. Time will tell. It just sucks to know how much wasted potential there is and for the moment, there's nothing we can do about it.
my god - that would be 10 years (if that happened) between that and 007 Legends... holy crap.... imagine, that would be like if no game was released after Goldeneye64 until FRWL came out in 2005 (or whenever it was).... wow...
MGM Hires Robert Marick to Expand Consumer Products
https://variety.com/2019/film/news/mgm-robert-marick-expand-consumer-products-1203165505/
“Marick is responsible for overseeing the expansion of MGM’s traditional merchandise, interactive and consumer products business. He’s also developing a global strategy with a focus on core consumer products licensing, digital and gaming, location-based entertainment and direct-to-consumer businesses.
Marick will be working on MGM brands including...James Bond.”
And honestly speaking, there are a lot of developers hungry to get their hands on the Bond license. Saying no one wants it is nothing short of nonsensical. No disrespect intended.
