On account of the cassette tape (pre CD), his reputation before working with Blofeld, his visit from Bond (checking radiation shields) and his fate being unknown. Can't make much else fit though!
Nor is it:
However, it is indeed:
CLUES:
1. It's not February 2nd is it?
AKA Groundhog Day. Metz has to deal with Klaus Hergesheimer. And then immediately afterwards he has to deal with Klaus Hergesheimer!!
2. I want everybody to hold hands.
He dreams of unilateral disarmament and world peace.
3. Patience is not one of my virtues.
He is not best pleased when Tiffany blocks his van at the petrol station.
4. A Stutus Quo song could be used to describe something that happened to me.
Their song "Down Down Deeper and Down". Metz takes the elevator deep underground.
5. :D
"If you see a mad professor in a minibus, just smile!"
6. I had an unexpected guest.
He doesn't realise Bond has climbed into the back of his van.
7. I see that my reputation precedes me
Willard Whyte comments that the power of Blofeld's satellite could be incerdible given Metz' reputation in light refraction.
8. CD's hadn't been invented yet.
Hence the coded cassette tape that Bond first spies in the lab.
9. My actions could be deemed quite cowardly.
Metz begs Blofeld to surrender.
10. In the end, I was duped.
He realises that Blofeld doesn't "give a damn" about peace.
11. Did I live or did I die? MY fate is left unknown.
It is unknown if he has survived.
Not the easiest of clues but thanks to all for playing and many congrats to @Tokoloshe.
It's your turn next.
1. If I'm captured then it's game over
2. As time goes by, my other half makes me look ever more foolish
3. It's too late for me to change my mind.
Good guess because the clues loosely fit, but not correct.
My clues are quite specific and very often have double meanings and/or hidden references. Keep thinking.
Is it General Orlov?
Not the Baroness.
(I do think that is a stretch)
1. If I'm captured then it's game over
2. As time goes by, my other half makes me look ever more foolish
3. It's too late for me to change my mind.
Incorrect guesses:
Goldfinger
Lupe
Margaret Thatcher
MayDay
Orlov
Severine
Vesper
The information you need to solve this is all there. It may help to read the clues in a less literal manner - they are intended to be cryptic.
Yes sir! Well done :)
Can you explain your thinking before I reveal all?
Very good clues. I'm assuming the first one refers to Chess?
Clue 1 game of chess featured in code names during the PTS White Knight ect.
Clue 2. M makes him look daft when Bond saves the day.
Also both the actors played in the BBC series As Time Goes By together .
Clue 3. By the time the order is sent to abort the attack the missile is out of range and cannot be called off.
Well done @Mrcoggins. Over to you!
1. I only show up briefly
2 Butt you see quite a lot of me.
3. I can be quite distracting if you want me to.
That's all for now good luck.
Why the insult?
I guess Naomi.
