    Yes! Pleydell-Smith it is!

And so it finally comes to an end...

    1) A sudden change in the temperature was a concern of mine.
He tells Strangways to hurry back before the cards get cold.

    2) I didn't break my vow of secrecy.
About Bond's arrival to the airport.

    3) Sometimes it's difficult to tell whether I'm working or not.
Whether he is at work or at the Club, he is dressed in a suit while sitting down and smoking.

    4) I'm no saint but I do share another characteristic with Bond.
A similar hyphenated name. In AVTAK Bond takes the alias James St. John -Smythe.

    5) Bond's final destination is where you don't lose your focus.

He tells Bond that Dr. No runs the place like a "concentration" camp.

    6) I'm not very mysterious but I may provide valuable information about the mystery at hand.
He provides valuable clues to Bond relating to Strangways' disappearance.

    7) Extraordinary innards!

    "Cyanide in a cigarette? Fantastic!"

    8) I wish that someone would have shown me the ruler of drinking containers.
The Queen of Cups might have alerted him about Ms. Taro's treachery.

    9) Bond did something that really surprised me.
When he wanted to go out the other door to see Ms. Taro.

    10) Look for the woman.
"Cherchez la femme. " Professor Dent says this in regards to Strangways' secretary at the Queens Club. It could also be a reference to Ms. Taro.

    11) It's not Christmas but I like to play Santa.
He gives Bond the package from London which contains the geiger counter.

    12) I was unprepared for the inconvenience but Bond wasn't.
The files on Dr. No have gone missing.

    13) Despite my laid back nature, I was able to give Bond a good argument.
In this case, argument meaning Quarrel. He tells Bond where to find Quarrel.

    14) God save the Queen.
He's British and is a member of the Queens Club.

    15) Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
    Strangways and his secretary.

    16) Einstein would approve of my judgment.
    Pleydell-Smith smokes a pipe.
"I believe that pipe smoking contributes to a somewhat calm and objective judgment in all human affairs." - Albert Einstein, 1950.

    17) I didn't catch whose funeral it was.
He didn't see Strangways get shot and put into the hearse. Bond later says the famous line about being on the way to a funeral.

    18) Don't bring lilies.
Because this is a social call for 007! He wants to meet everyone socially at the Club.

    19) You won't see me in an episode of Mad Men anytime soon.
"We didn't advertise it, I can assure you." Regarding Bond's arrival to the airport.

    20) I helped to confirm Bond's sneaking suspicion.
Bond calls him and asks if he has sent a driver to pick him up.

    21) It just wasn't in the cards.
For Strangways to return to the card game.

    22) Those who search for Blofeld's pet will not be seen by me.
    The Three Blind Mice.
Lyrics from the song -"They're looking for the cat."
    Pleydell-Smith never sees them.

    23) Four Your Eyes Only
    Four Eyes. Pleydell-Smith wears glasses.

    24) It won't be the nicotine that kills you.
    The cyanide in the cigarette.

    25) Call of duty.
Bond calls him from the airport.

    26) Interrogation isn't necessary.
Bond doesn't want anyone brought in for questioning. He wants to meet them socially.

    27) Puzzled and blue about the two.
    Strangways and his secretary.

    28) You might find me at the end of a letter.
    P.S.

    29) He'd rather be fishing.
Fishing was the latest craze of Strangways before he disappeared.

    30) Regarding wolves who dress like sheep, at the wheel I fell asleep.
He was not able to determine that Dent and Ms. Taro were agents of evil.

    31) It was the end of one era and the beginning of another.

Jamaica gained it's independence in 1962 and was no longer a British colony. Dr. No was the first EON Bond film.

    32) Don't roll out the red carpet.
Bond didn't want an official reception at the airport.

    33) My job and I are the perfect match.
    The initials P.S.
    Principal Secretary / Pleydell-Smith

    34) There's been far too much of Bond's car from DAD for my liking.
Strangways and the files on Dr. No have "vanished" into thin air.

    35) Bridge over troubled water.
Bridge as in the card game. Troubled water would be Crab Key.

    36) I don't bother to watch the sunset.
The sun never sets on the British Empire.

    37) Bond's vision is much sharper than mine.
Bond is suspicious of Dent and Ms. Taro.
    Pleydell-Smith never suspected a thing.
    Also, Bond doesn't wear glasses.

    38) The insect was acquired shortly before all the trouble began.
Strangways got the fishing "bug" about three weeks before he disappeared.
