BTW, I still wanna kill Lee Tamohammy for making my man look bad... >:/
Well I'm a grown up and I like Brosnan (and Dalton, and Connery, and Craig, and Moore, and Lazenby), so nope.
I think GE is Brosnans best and I wouldn't want to take that away from him. I'd prefer it if Dalton got his never made Property Of A Lady film, the one set in China. I was reading about it and that seemed awesome.
I was glad when I found out you had Dalton as you're favourite and Brosnan as your 2nd, I'm not alone anymore! :D
I don't entirely blame Tamahori, he's made good films. The script was fairly terrible.
Roger was 46 when he became Bond. He was fifty by Spy.
I prefer Bond as darker featured. It started that way with Connery. Brosnan did have some moments where he looked dangerous but he let the air out too quickly.
LTK would never had happened under Brosnan. That was a Dalton aimed film. Just like CR would never happen under Brosnan.
It was not just people who grew up in the 80's. I knew fans who grew up in the 60's who loved Dalton's take because they liked the books as a result of seeing early Connery films.
But Bond has become at times like the Dracula franchise which changes image and rarely pays attention to Bram Stoker's novel. If an actor gets the part right according to the true source, then that should be respected.
If some want a personality playing Bond, then the character will not survive for long in today's climate. Audiences are less forgiving than 30 years ago.
:))
You could tell Dench liked Brosnan and Brosnan liked Dench. I wouldn't want to take that away from him.
I like Brosnan but I admit him being bond in 86 would have been a mistake. Me and my mum are watching Remington Steele on DVD at the moment. She liked him as Bond but refers to him in Rs as "Lego man".
That would be great.
BTW, which is better, Reeses Pieces or Goobers?
The "me too" and "I never miss" deliveries from Brosnan are probably two of his best moments in the role.
On the contrary, I have read all of them, many times in fact. I just happen to prefer the films to the books. I have always felt that the character Fleming created in the books left a lot to be desired. He came close to creating something excellent, but he fell just short of perfection. Personally, the character I fell in love with was not the one Fleming penned in Casino Royale, but the one which Sean Connery personified in Dr. No.
Do excuse me, i've got something in my eyes. :( Even though it's Brosnans best Bond (imo), i'm curious as to what a Daltonised TND would have looked like...
Dalton as Bond
Anthonthy Hopkins as Harmsway (or Carver)
Sela Ward as Paris
Edward Woodwood as M
And no BMW.
I just googled what an Aston Martin looked like in 1997-- pretty damn sharp if I do say so!
*Would they have choosen a car that had been on the market for 3 years, though?
Nice! But I'd rather see Bond driving a Bentley! :)
Sorry- that was meant for @MajorDSmythe 's comment about Dalton in Tomorrow Never Dies ;)
Sharp? Please. After the V-8 vantage that Tim had, the next properly pretty car Aston made was the Vanquish, and they put that into DAD. I'm glad that Bond went through a BMW phase. Like his lotus in TSWLM, it made for some good variation. While I wouldn't mind seeing Q hand Bond a tricked out Bentley Continental SS in Bond 24, I also wouldn't mind seeing any of the new Astons, from the V8 to on through to the new Vanquish which looks epic!
