Christopher Nolan spoke to Empire about 'Man of Steel':

"It’s Zack’s movie so it’d be a bit rude of me to turn up and say I’ve got a few ideas now. My big point of responsibility was helping shepherd David’s script. When I’m finished with this I’ll be there for whatever Zack wants from me, but it’s very much his movie."

And here's a tease of Hot Toys' newest piece: The Bat from The Dark Knight Rises:

As excited as I am for Taken 2, it really was a surprise hit that just didn't need to be touched upon again.

I am allowing Taken 2 to impress me though, even if I don't find it necessary. I have been pleasantly surprised before.

You and I both. I'll get more and more excited as the release gets closer, but I won't let myself get too excited, in case it does become a disappointment. We should have the trailer any day/week now. I'm surprised it's taking so long.

Christian Bale speaks about doing a fourth Batman film:

"My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it's appropriate, I think it's going out at the right time. But… if Chris came to me with a script and said, 'You know what? There is another story', then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work."

Honestly I don't care. Stallone proved he's still got it in Rocky 6, Rambo 4 and The Expendables. He said that he wants to make a good film so Rambo goes out on a high note, he did it with Rocky 6 so I don't see why he can't do it again.

This week both Savages and The Amazing Spider-Man were released.

Currently, as of 152 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, Spider-Man is at 74% Fresh.

Most of the Rotten reviews are saying the same thing, though: that this unofficial reboot doesn't offer anything new. A few stated it has a good love story, but fails as a good super-hero movie.

Savages, which imo is more interesting of a film, is at 100% fresh from 9 reviews. It's too early to tell, but that's a good start! The reviews all say its a warm welcome of classic Oliver Stone, and the film is chaotic in it's action but has something to say.

I'll definitely be checking this one out.

The sequel to Spiderman will be better probably, when they shock everyone and
    kill Gwen.

Yes but then it will be..
just another gritty, revenge driven story. It seems the only way to create a strong, determined character is to make him want to get back at someone these days.. shame. That was actually one of the major complaints when reading the Rotten reviews on Quantum of Solace. Any character can turn cold and driven by losing someone they love. Get creative people!

QoS wasn't a revenge tale for Bond though, @JWESTBROOK, and he learns at the film's conclusion how worthless revenge is when it won't bring back lost loved ones. "I don't think the dead care about vengeance."

He brought the man who killed his love to justice in the end. He may have stopped another villain in the process, but it was a result of his hunt for information on Vesper's love.

He was out to find who was responsible for her death, it was just far larger than he expected.

I'm looking forward to 'Savages.' Didn't know it was out already, but I just bought my books for the next college semester this fall, so I'm pretty low on cash. I HAVE to see 'The Dark Knight Rises,' so I might wait for 'Savages' to hit my local $2 theater, which is already playing 'Prometheus' and 'Snow White & The Huntsman,' fairly new films for such a low price.

I read Empire Magazine's review of Taken 2, and in it they said it was worse than the first Taken film. But then they gave it a 2 out of 5, while their Taken 1 review was a 1 out of 5. How does that make any sense?

Their complaints were that it didn't go "bigger and badder" than the first film, and it was over-edited. They compliment the film on it's twist of the first films plot, but say the directing isn't the quality they expected.

In my opinion, their review is contradictory and lazy. They rank the sequel higher than the original, but say it's not as good. And then they complain that it's too simple, when that's what the 'action' franchise is popular for: simple, straightforward, badass action.

I feel like in the hands of a different reviewer, it would have gotten 3, maybe 4/5 and same with it's original. They obviously didn't know what to expect (which to be honest isn't much) from what is supposed to be a simple, fun, action film with a badass lead.

I still expect it to be just as enjoyable as the first, and that's all I need to spend that $10 at my cinema.

In other news.. I've updated the title to be specifically related to DREDD, but as always this thread is open to any news/information/discussion.
I'll likely be seeing DREDD this Sunday, and I expect it to be good fun. Again, like with Taken 1 + 2, I'm not expecting Oscar level stuff. I'm expecting fun, awesome action and according to reviews, DREDD delivers.
  • DREDD is awesome. Story is similar to The Raid but Urban is great as Judge Dredd, the action is great and the slo mo scenes look great.

The Sweeney is no 1 at the UK box office.

Taken 2 has made nearly 50 Million domestic in the US alone it's opening weekend. Anybody give it a go? Have a review?

All I can say about Taken 2 is that I feel bad for anyone that paid money to see that movie. It really was the worst movie I've seen all year, and I've seen almost every movie that was out in theaters in 2012.

The action sequences were some of the worst shot and poorly edited sequences I've ever seen and they made the Quantum of Solace editing look like it was Casino Royale. The plot was terrible because it was basically the same as the first one, which left you with no suspense and the bad guys were so bad it was laughable. The movie also had no sense of realism like the first one and the new director did a terrible job with this.

The direction was awful, the cinematography sucked and the movie was so predicatable and cliched. The only redeaming part was Neeson, but still his performance was nothing like the first movie and he wasn't half the bad ass he was the first time around.

Overall I would give it a D+ and I would recommend staying away. If this opened up to 50 million in the US, I can only hope Skyfall can get double that and hopefully this movie doesn't turn away people from the genre for a while after how bad it was.

Man oh man. The Bourne Legacy and Taken 2 have fallen, now Bond remains. It seems the only moderate competition for 007 would be the Mission Impossible series, but who knows when there will be another film?

Taken 2 wasn't bad, it was pretty good. But it had the same problem as Die Hard 4: it wasn't an 18, and the action sufferd for it.

Both 'Taken 2' and 'The Bourne Legacy' were films I heavily anticipated and was incredibly disappointed on. Shame. I hope SF doesn't fall in the same boat.
  • Bourne Legacy was a disappointment (but still not bad), but I honestly wasn't expecting much from Taken 2 anyway, the trailers looked badass but a sequel wasn't needed.

The two biggest disappointments for me this year: Phiranna 3DD (first one was a funny horror comedy with hot girls in bikinis, second one was a cringe worthy piece of crap with hot girls in bikinis) and Prometheus (just didn't live up to the hype and had almost nothing to do with Alien).

Empire is releasing news that the creators of the Taken franchise, as well as Sony Studios which backs them, will be going ahead (against comments from the majority of those involved) with a Taken 3.

"We didn't start talking about Taken 3 until we saw the numbers," Kamen tells Hollywood.com. "But then we said, 'Oh, okay. I think we should do a third one.' And Fox wants us to do a third one."

    Key part:
"We've taken everyone we can take — it's going to go in another direction. Should be interesting."

Well the 'new direction' seems interesting. I just want to know what they're coming up with. Whether it's worth it or not...

But if they come back with an R-rating, a good new direction, I'll be interested.

I just find it hilarious they came out and said it's for the money.
