Wow, very interesting, @Germanlady. I never even thought about that. I just surmised it was some old couple taking shelter in the lodge. I really can't wait to see all of the secrets on the big screen in November.

Im really looking forward to seeing the scene in
the neon Shanghai office building. We know that Patrice 'kills' Bond in the opening of the movie, so I cant wait to see Patrice's reaction when Bond's 'ghost' comes back to get him, the final shot of the trailer is awesome. Seems clear that shit is clearly about to go down.

Also remember Dennis Gassner talking about that scene saying its all about Bond coming back from the dead and illusions. Excited.

    Great. Thanks for the spoiler.

@Pierce2Daniel, not all of us know all of that, including myself, until now. Please, use the spoiler tag!

@doubleonothing, it's why it's hard to come on here and enjoy myself anymore. I have to constantly worry about what will be said. Use spoiler tags, people, they're right there for this reason. Don't ever surmise everyone knows something you do. It's given that they probably won't.

I'll be keeping my sharp little eyes on Pierce2Daniel from now on. Probably. That's if I don't get distracted by something shiny.

Listen, if you're going to post something that might reveal plot details that are not common knowledge, please use the spoiler tags. I won't ask nicely next time!

Exactly. Unless it's something glaringly obvious in the teaser, like "Bond being shaved by Eve." or "Bond on the float at the casino.", just use spoiler tags.

@Pierce2Daniel - I've added a spoiler tag to your post. Not everyone wants to know the ins and out of the film before watching it.

Is it a problem that I've probably watched the trailer over 100+ times now? I can't wait to see it again on the big screen tonight!

@KlausHergesheimer, absolutely not. I'm about to give it a fifteenth watch, which is nothing compared to you, but still as enjoyable!

Totally forgot I could do that! Hahaha!

To make people feel a little more at ease, the information @Pierce2Daniel posted is not entirely accurate.

Wait, where is Finney? Is he the one standing over Bond's shoulder when he is reloading the assault rifle in the lodge? I'm still not 100% sure who the old couple was, or who Finney's character even is, so a "yes" or "no" would work to that question.

    Yes, that's Finney.

Okay, I must've watched the trailer 20 times by now and I can't find the part where there's someone standing over Bond's shoulder. Does anyone have a screenshot of it?

    Wow, it looks amazing.

To be fair, I thought the QoS teaser trailer looked great too, and I didn't love the final product. But the script wasn't finished before production, so I'm hoping for a better result with SF.

I'm pretty sure all the trailers are the same, excluding one shot at the end, which differs between Bond and Patrice fighting in the water, and Bond fighting a thug at the casino.

Contrary to what many here believe, I have no problems with CR and QOS as films... imo they are very well made films, 2 of the best of the last decade..... but as 'Bond films', they are total failures. I don't find an ounce of Bondness in both films, apart from a character named James Bond who has nothing in common with the original character.

DC, what exactly then IS your definition of Bondian based on the above statement? I find it difficult to believe that anyone cannot pick up Bondian moments in the Craig films, especially in CR.

Q, Moneypenny, gadgets, one-liners (atleast more memorable than those in CR), fun, glamour, escapism, larger-than-life adventure, epic scope, grand scale..... didn't find any of that in CR.

I think CR did have some fun and escapism. I missed things like Q, Moneypenny and gadgets too but alot of CR was like a classic Bond film.

Bond is at an exotic location, tracking a villian. He then chases villian in an amazing free running sequence (and Bond films are all about fresh stunts). He then blows up an embassy after a big firefight (big explosions and battles are something Bond has always had). Then Bond travels to Miami, charms a receptionist, and steals security footage. He wins a villians Aston Martin in a card game (cool car and card games, classic Bond, although I wish they didn't bring back the DB5), and sleeps with a villians girlfriend (Bond has a history of doing this). Later he finds the girl dead (it's happened in all the classics), and there's a big action sequence when Bond saves an airport from a bomber (in a way, it's all really larger than life).

The 2nd half imo isn't as good and doesn't have as many classic touches (plus I hated some the Bond/Vesper dialouge), but even then there's a villian with a cool gimmick, and a great poker game. CR might not live up to some of the other films but I think there are classic touches and some fun in the 1st half.

Oh dear, I don't remember either shot. Time for a re-watch. Probably will turn out that I've been watching some really gloomy fan-made trailer all along...

Regarding Finney, isn't it confirmed that he's reprising his role as Dr. Albert Hirsch...? Turns out Bond's been working for Treadstone all along!

@Getafix, that's how I was with the initial The Dark Knight Rises trailer last year: it was the fan-made one with Robin Williams in it, and I was confused when nobody else was talking about Williams' presence in it.

Look at this comment from Youtube:

"i miss the days when james bond is all about gambling, women, guns, explosions, gadgets and cars. But everything became serious now :("

When, six years ago, when Casino Royale was released? Or how about four years ago, when Quantum of Solace was released, and contained five of the six things mentioned?

Absolutely thrilled by the teaser trailer, as it does exactly what it says on the tin - TEASES and leaves us breathless for more.

Cannot wait to see the whole thing. Daniel is looking mighty fine as usual.

Thank you. That's what some people - not saying anyone on here, just people posting on other news sites - don't understand: it's a TEASER trailer, which sets out to tease. I don't see how people can make complete judgments on an 84-second teaser trailer, of all things. Wait until October/November, see the film, then decide. Only then, can you truly know how the movie is.
  • I think Skyfall is going to be really faithful to what Fleming vision and not the silly gadgets and stupid plot in the past films. It might even feel like a novel written by Fleming adapted to the screen that is what I hoping for......with some humour of course and gadgets.

Some of the comments below the trailer are awful do they read Fleming or they just focus on the movie only......... anyone agree?

Craig trying to be more like Moore would be a disaster. He's an intense, serious, non-verbose actor--ever seen him in an interview?

A lighter Bond won't happen at least until after Craig steps down.

no-one is saying Craig should be like Moore.... how absurd.... if Craig will have more 'one-liners' and 'funny moments', obviously they will be tailored for him... each actor has the humour tailored to him...

I think most of the people who post comments on youtube (is that what you are talking about?) don't know a thing of what they are talking about (this is true for the trailer as it is for everything else). So no, they have never read Fleming (I doubt most of them even know who Fleming was). I go even further, most of those people didn't even watch all of the films (or never paid attention), they are stuck on clichés and what they hear people talk about and pose as specialists!
I have a friend who has a literature channel on youtube and I wonder how she stands it! Ridiculous people making all sorts of silly comments, again posing as specialists, when they have no clue what they are talking about!

A few years ago I read an interview with a former teacher at Guildhall who had retired (don't remember his name, sorry), talking about all the pupils he had along the years, som many that had become stars, etc. At a certain point he talked about his biggest disapoitments and one of them was that Craig followed a career in drama instead of comedy! He said something like "it's not that he's not good a drama but his true talent is in comedy". I never forgot that comment! By the way, ever seen him on Comic Relief?

Depends on what humour you want. BTW - I have seen him being very funny and all laughter in interviews - often.
But he is more on the darker humour side in his films. As a person, he is, what did Berenice say - he is like a clown and incredibly funny and goofy..everybody who ever worked with him said that. He is very quick...

I have no doubt DC can deliver on the humour front. He just needs better material to work with. Hopefully SF will do that. And no, that doesn't mean I want him to be like Roger Moore.
