Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace had the right balance of humor for Craig. People in general seem to have missed all the jokey moments in Quantum of Solace that were there staring at them. Airport , taxi and hotel reception scenes to name a few.

Yeah, you can't help but wonder that. QOS had it's fair share of jokes.

What I loved about QOS, is that the humour was more natural. Pretty much the only thing I like about the film. Another example is the dialogue exchanged between Mathis and his girlfriend at the villa.

To have more humour in SF than we have in CR would be wrong for the darker, grittier, more Flemingsque style of the Craig era. Some natural laughs during normal conversation is fine.

The thing is, it's not so much more humour I think people want but instead, a much more relaxed Bond, with a cool confidence that doesn't require Bond to be looking so furious most of the time. People want to see Bond clearly having a good time doing his job. Look to early Connery for details.

    Exactly!

No one (or at least, not many) are asking for the return of bad one-liners, sight-gags and winking animals. While admiring and enjoying DC's excellent take on Bond, what many miss is the sense of Bond really enjoying himself. This is one of the things that the early films do so well - the feeling that you are on board for a roller-coaster ride with Bond, and that it's going to be a lot of fun along the way. You anticipate the enjoyment before you go in and have a sense of expectation at what Bond is going to serve up this time. It's a feel and a recipe that can be played with, but has an essence that is Bond.

I believe the word association in the trailer shows Bond being evaluated as to whether he may be still reliable or credible as an active 00, 'possibly' in the aftermath of the main attack on MI6 (mind the gap!). Post trauma etc, clues seem to point to him trying to get his edge back. But my theory on his reaction to the word Skyfall is that of him affirming a secret protocol - he's not just saying this interviews done. In effect M's safety cannot be guaranteed by MI6 since security has been so severely compromised that even their safe houses could be known. Bond will have to get her to Safe Harbour - 'Skyfall', but will he be up to the task and what allies could he count on, Tanner certainally, Eve? Originally thought she might be part of M's close protection group, now she seem's to look more like she might be a 00 in waiting? Silva will function as a stalking sociopath think No Country meets Red Grant!! Are we in for one hell of a mano a mano. This one's gonna be dark, treachery, betrayals and twists - mind you, all beautifully shot. There will be blood and this ending could be a downer, so make the most of those witty remarks and exotic locales boys and girls. Yes, Spooks could have been an influence it's that good a show and the only thing I'm concerned about is, if they blow the title song and the titles!

"...what many miss is the sense of Bond really enjoying himself."

If you mean Bond smiling and smirking duing an action scene when his life is in danger then I'm not into it. If you're referring to him being more relaxed and happier during a non action moment such as a gambling scene and when he's conversing with a Bond girl for example, then this is fine. Wasn't this pretty much how it was in Casino Royale though?

In CR, you see how Bond was relaxed, almost playful with Vesper from the moment they met upto the point where they reach the hotel and Vesper tells Bond to take the next LIFT (British people don't say elevator)? I want to see more of that side of Bond. I love Craig, my second favourite Bond after king Connery but we need to see him in a better mood.

I don't know why everyone whines about Dan not looking cheery in his Bond films. He's great, and has plenty of happy moments, even the sadistic smile as Carlos blows up in CR. He smiled when he and Vesper were together in Venice, and he was a big flirt when they went boating and fooled around in their room. Even before that Bond was enjoying Vesper's company when he was in recovery, and he was smiling ear to ear at her. Even before THAT he was happy as could be on the train where he and Vesper met, and smirked like a schoolboy at their banter. Before THAT he was seducing Solange with absolute enjoyment (duh!), and was REALLY enjoying himself. Those are only a small range of examples, and that doesn't include QoS! He is a cheery man in his Bond films, but people just don't want to admit that they are there so they can continue senseless arguing.

I suppose the whining goes more for QOS, where he is indeed not supposed to be cheery, as he mourns his love and seeks answers to his questions. Coming off the brosnan films, its a different way of displaying the lighter moments and in QOS there were less plus a rougher way of fighting and a rougher man all together.

After DAD almost everybody wanted more seriousness and now, after more of that, people like to have a balance between the seriousness and the nonchalance of the older films (Connery, not Brosnan). I am not talking about those, who will complain no matter what, but those with real arguments and no ill meaning might mean this and I tend to agree.

After all we have heard, the prods got it and made a lighter film without sacrifying the much needed modern taking of Bond.

In English I'd called it a definite case of the pot calling the kettle black, but that's a tricky one to translate!
  • possibly spoiler but skyfall could be the code word when england and mi6 are attack, agents gets kill that why we see the the coffins and bye the way bond looks to be falling in the water he might had been shot hence the reason he seems to be being re-evlated, maybe the m past is coming to hauted her when she orders oo section to kill an enemy and his family is kill instead an silva is out to destroy mi6, and bond seems tto see m in a different light, kind of like when you start to know your parents past mistakes, and know he must protect her and kill silva before he kills her, i think he might be hiding her in his family scottish estates, thats why theyre looking at property in teaser trailer, but right now im just guessing what did anyone else get about possibly story lines fronm the trailer

Tame yourselves, and be civil. I am seriously getting sick of all this lately.

That is the problem, not only the one, who starts it gets the heat, but also those, who
answer to them. Like this, it will never stop. Ignore them and it will get even worse. Peace sometimes doesn't come by being civil dealing with those, who are not. So - if more would speak out instead of just turning their heads, we wouldn't have that trouble. Mark my words - but hey - I can shut up. No problem...

@Germanlady, @Getafix made a comment you deemed unnecessary, and responded rudely with "or you could be tempted to shut up for once..."

So you are as much the problem as he was in that situation, and you both have butted heads over things like this before.

In Royale, one facet of Craig's portrayal of Bond I don't like is how cocky he is. I find it a little nauseating. With any luck he'll be less so in SF. Infact, if the makers have paid attention to his character arc and the fact that he's now closer to a seasoned agent, he should be less cocky in the new motion picture.

Oh, I like Craig's Bond's cockiness. I think it is balanced nicely. I really do not want to lose that element in his films. And it will go with a lighter touch, which Skyfall seems to have (we keep hearing).
A little cockiness is fine but I think there was a bit too much of it in CR.

@Brady - True - so do tell what is your way? Do you have an idea, how to make him/them change their ways? Because I do believe, its often not opinion, but just to do step on peoples feet and at times, you react. You do feed the trolls - true again - but doing nothing isn't the solution either from our experiences here.

Darth Dimis post in the other thread, in which he might have included me, hopefully brings some reason...

wow, I'm off the internets for a couple of weeks, a very, very interesting trailer hits the air and members here start bickering about each other? You're like Dutch Christians in wartime! Lighten up people!

Anyway, as this is about the trailer, I do wonder. MI6's not supposed to act within the UK. Are they going to use that? Or is it ' Bond's loose' again? I really wouldn't like that. Interesting as well are those coffins. Well, I'm all in for the new movie!

I just watched CR last night and I had forgotten how much fun Bond actually had - a fair bit! I definitely will be disappointed if SF has more humour than CR, that's for sure.

Why are so many people against the darker, moodier Bond films like TLD, LTK and QOS? One thing I do actually like about QOS is the level and style of the humour. We've had so much humour during the Bond films over the years. For Craig's tenure as Bond, I would like his films to remain darker and more Flemingsque. After Craig's left the role, go back to full on comedy by all means.

I must get my hands on this 4/5 minute footage and that being said, that length of footage is nowhere near a "teaser".

Would that be something, that will never be shown to the public - just to show the folks at the party, what to expect? Since most of those people worked on the film.
