    I've NEVER read 'Colonel Sun,' unfortunately, but after I saw some comparisons between the torture scene in SP and some of the same dialogue in this novel, I had to pick it up. Got it for really cheap online and should be here in the next few days, really looking forward to finally reading it. Figured @Dragonpol would enjoy hearing that, since I know he's in love with it.

    Better late than never. I hope to release a series of articles on Kingsley Amis' Colonel Sun this year over on The Bondologist Blog. :)

    I am the proud owner of the Jonathan Cape UK first edition and just love the Tom Adams surreal cover art.
    More importantly, it's the best continuation novel by a country mile and the equal of many of Fleming's novels with the exception of MR, OHMSS & FRWL which are in a league all of their own.

    An interesting article.
    I remember the CS launch quite well. The critics were not all kind albeit I was always of the opinion that professional jealously was behind a lot of it.
    I think the book sold moderately well despite the fact that the decision to use the pseudonym of Robert Markham can only be described as a marketing faux pas.
    Has Amis fronted it with his own name, it would have done a lot better.

    Glad you liked the article. It is an interesting piece and I was more than glad to host it on my blog. And of course as the last image that accompanied the article showed Kingsley Amis' name is finally and firmly on the cover of Colonel Sun where it should really always have been and not that nonentity "Robert Markham"!
